Mary A. Hubbard

Hubbard 2SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Mary A. Hubbard, 63, of Route 197, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on October 8, 1952, in Rutland, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Brilyea ) DeLong.

Mary attended Hudson Falls High School.

On July 29, 1970, she married Terry Hubbard in Kingsbury.

For many years, Mary was a deli worker at Walmart on Route 9 in Queensbury and at Valero’s Convenient Store, just off exit 17.  At Valero’s, she had a steady following of customers who would ask just for her to help them out.  In her younger years, while working at Gurney Lane, she would babysit up to 12 children at a time, because of the love that she shared with them and the wonderful home cooking, many of the children she helped raise refer to her as Mom or Meme.  Mary took pride in making home cooked meals for family and friends.  She will be remembered by all for being the kind of person who would brighten up a room, if you were down, she could bring you back up.  She was a loving, caring matriarch of the family, that could rule with an iron fist if necessary.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by an infant son, Ricky Hubbard and her sister, Joanne Jenkins.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43, Terry Hubbard of South Glens Falls; her children, Terry Hubbard and his wife, Thelea of Indiana, Billie Joe Chambers and her husband Butch, Michael Hubbard and his wife, Crystal and Meredith Robbins and her husband, Chris, all of South Glens Falls; her grandchildren, Ricky, Sara, Tara, Dylan, Tyler, Cody and Mariya; three great grandchildren, Fisher, Hunter and Jhetta; her siblings, Raymond DeLong, Anne Corty, Linda Sumner, Rickie DeLong, Angelo DeLong, Gary DeLong and Dennis DeLong; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her pug puppies, Molly, Baby and Jema.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be in the spring at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

George R. Barnes

BarnesHUDSON FALLS – George R. Barnes, 82, of Dean Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 10, 1933 in Hensonville, NY, he was the son of the late Lambert and Extelsia (Haskell) Barnes.

George was a 1952 graduate of Granville High School.  Following his graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Korean War as a Radio Mechanic.

On April 6, 1958, he married Nancy LaPan at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

First out of the Navy, he took over his brother in law’s dairy farm in Hebron.   After selling the farm, he began a long career at General Electric, retiring after 30 years.

George loved keeping his hand in farming and along with his wife, moved to the LaPan family farm. He enjoyed being outside, which included hunting in the Catskills and fishing in the Adirondacks, walking in the woods and cutting firewood. George also enjoyed traveling in his RV, vacationing to the ocean and throughout the country, including Alaska and Hawaii.  He also was an avid NASCAR follower.

George was known for wheeling and dealing.  He would buy and sell anything with a motor including cars and boats.  He also loved to help his children work on their homes.  His kids called him MacGyver, because he could fix anything with anything.  George was an excellent carpenter, creating beautiful furniture from the wood he cut in his wood lot.  He also enjoyed playing cards, including pinochle, cribbage and pitch.  He was very social.  Most of all, he loved doing activities with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three sisters, Barbara Marchaland, Maie Juckett and Catherine Goodspeed, an infant brother and a grandson, Nigel Hodkinson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Barnes of Hudson Falls; his six children, Kathleen Moench and her husband, Douglas of Latham, Karen Rose and her husband, Gordon of Fort Washington, PA, Ann Hodkinson and her husband, Albert of Fort Washington, PA, Mary Heydrick and her husband, John of Hudson Falls, Robert Barnes and his wife, Donna of MA and Timothy Barnes and his companion, Barbara of Hudson Falls; his eight grandchildren, Samantha Moench, Alexander and Nathaniel Rose, Trevor Hodkinson, Robert and Ryan Barnes, Elizabeth Natale and Katelyn Barnes; his four great grandchildren, Sean, Hailey, Connor and Landon Barnes; two brothers, Edgar Barnes and his wife, Marion of Granville and Ronald Barnes and his wife, Barbara of Marathon, NY; his sister, Elaine Menapace and her husband, Richard of Cortland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, officiating.

The Rite of Committal with full military honors will be conducted at 12 noon on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Following the graveside service, everyone is welcome to the family home at 189 Dean Road in Hudson Falls.

Patsy “Graz” Graziano

GrazianoHUDSON FALLS – Patsy “Graz” Graziano, 67, of Hudson Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital with his close loving friends, Pat Monahan and Frank Battiste, at his side.

Born on August 3, 1948, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Patsy and Josephine (Russo) Graziano, previously owners of the Kingsbury Hotel.

He graduated from Hudson Falls Senior High School in 1967. He attended RBI until a motor vehicle accident made it impossible to continue.

Graz was an accountant for Construction Enterprises, where he had worked for Ron Moss, later Henry Barbieri, DaJon Brothers 2 and worked with his brother-in-law at Hugh Combs TV for awhile. In his younger years he worked for the late Frank “Chee Chee” Santoro, was a Boy Scout and was a Columbian Squire through the Knights of Columbus. He was a drummer for the “KilRoys”, a band he started, later he joined the JB Greasers and he loved deep sea fishing and being with his friends.

Graz was an avid Seahawks fan, loved the Yankees, was a “pretty good” pool player, playing at Church’s Pool Hall, and was a wonderful character who brightened up the day. He collected coins, bills and silver certificate. He loved to make people laugh, in the past several years he battled cancer courageously and was known and loved by many. Graz lived life on his own timetable and although he had some setbacks in his life, he never let anything keep him down. He was especially proud to be the Godfather to Donna Shock and Marc Monahan.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two nephews, Ronald and Jeffrey Combs, a great-niece, Christie Ferullo and his brother-in-law, Hugh Combs.

Survivors include his sister, Jean Combs of Hudson Falls; his nieces, Sandra Lortie and her husband, Raymond of Queensbury, Debra Geer and her husband John of West Fort Ann, Laurie Normandeau of Boulder, CO and Donna Shock and her husband, Chris of Hawaii; several cousins and his aunt, Antonette LaPorte.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A funeral mass will take place 11 am Tuesday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park, with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at, St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Graz’ family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Orchard, whom he thought of as family and the doctors and nurses on Tower 5 at the Glens Falls Hospital, for their love and compassion

Herald C. Vaughn

Vaughn Herald Vaughn Herald 1KINGSBURY – Herald C. Vaughn, of Kingsbury, 95, passed on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born January 18, 1921, in Kingsbury, he was the son of the Forrest and Mary (Wooley) Vaughn.

Herald was a graduate of White Bear Lake High School in MN and also attended Albany Business College.

He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1940 to 1946 as a Boatswain’s Mate First Class, during World War II.

On December 7, 1958, he married Lola O’Connell at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.

Herald was a carpenter at Local 291 and a millwright for R.D. Larrow Construction.
He enjoyed working in his wood shop and was a great craftsman.  In his younger years, Herald enjoyed snowmobiling.  He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Floyd Vaughn, his mother in law, Jane Hanley, his sister in law, Mary Bemis and his brothers in law, Chucky Bemis, Jon Hall and Willis O’Connell.

Survivors include his wife, Lola (O’Connell) Vaughn of Kingsbury; his children, David Vaughn and his wife, Kathy of Queensbury., Susan Bolton of Brant Lake, Darrin Vaughn of Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Ryan and Justin Vaughn, B.J. and Zachary Bolton, Nicole and Shannon Vaughn; and his great granddaughter, Violet Clunis.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., on Sunday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

The funeral service will follow the calling hours at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Burial will take place in the spring at Kingsbury Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Dorothy Ellen LaPan

LaPanDorothy Ellen LaPan, 88, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born April 8, 1927, in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Gertrude “Ma”(Seitter) Garling.

On April 24, 1949, Dorothy married William A. LaPan. He passed away on April 19, 1996.

She worked for Continental Insurance in Glens Falls for many years.

Dorothy was a communicant of St. Mary’s/ St. Paul’s Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cross word puzzles and needlepoint. Dorothy also enjoyed visiting the Maine Coast, the 1000 Islands, watching sports and going to the  horse races at Saratoga.  Most importantly, Dorothy loved spending time with her family.

Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was predeceased by one son, Mark W. LaPan and her sister, Elaine Measeck.

Survivors include her two sons, Paul A. LaPan and his fiancé, Amy Cargen of Syracuse and Peter M. LaPan and his wife, Lynette of Clifton Park; her five grandchildren, Nicole Dobson and her husband, Chris, Christopher LaPan and Halee Riley, Eric LaPan, Jacob LaPan, Todd LaPan; her great grandchildren, Tyler Dobson, Maisie Riley LaPan; her sister, Nancy Wilson of Rochester; her daughter-in-law, Colleen LaPan of Fort Edward; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls, with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Memorial donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to American Lung Association of the Northeast, 418 Broadway, 1st Floor, Albany, NY 12207.

Eva O. Brown

brownQUEENSBURY – Eva O. Brown, 92, a longtime Queensbury resident, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on January. 22, 2016.

Born on February 5, 1923, in Queensbury, she was the daughter of the late Ovide and Mary (Jensen) Prince.

Eva was a graduate of Glens Falls High School.

On December 15, 1946, she married O’Neil Brown at St. Alphonsus Church in Glens Falls. They had met while out square dancing and for their honeymoon they traveled to New York City and square danced to the music of Guy Lombardo and His Orchestra.   O’Neil passed away on October 1, 2009.

Eva worked for General Electric, Clark Brothers Glove Factory in Glens Falls and retired from J & J Lingerie also in Glens Falls.

Eva will be remembered most for being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put everyone else ahead of herself. She is fondly remembered for her warm, wonderful smile and loving disposition.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her siblings, Emede Prince, Ovide Prince, Jr., Emma Johnson, Frederick Prince and a daughter in law, Vicki Brown.

She is survived by her children, Fred Brown and his wife, Doreen of Bolton Landing, Connie Thompson and her husband, Bruce of Pompano Beach, FL and Beth Hajeck and her husband, Dan of Queensbury; her grandchildren, Dr. Ashli Brown and her husband Casey Johnson, Lexi North, Enjae Sabo, Danika Hajeck, Christopher Hajeck; a great-grandson, Ryan North; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday January 27, 2016, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening.

She will be interred with her beloved husband at a later date at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Veteran’s Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Frank O. Jump

JumpQUEENSBURY – Frank O. Jump, 53, of Queensbury passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 22, 2016, at Glens Falls Hospital with his loving wife at his side.

Born January 23, 1963, in Coxsackie, he was the son of the late Harold and Ruby (Stevens) Jump.

On August 22, 1998, he married Kimberly Barrett in Glens Falls.

Frank enjoyed duck hunting with his son, Kyle, camping, and the outdoors. He loved winter, camping with his family and bowling.  Frank was a fan of NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon.  He enjoyed dressing up at Halloween and was nicknamed, “The Grim Camper Reaper”.  Most importantly, Frank enjoyed attending his sons football games and hanging with his grandsons on the weekends.

Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Millett.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Kimberly Jump of Queensbury; his two sons, Kyle Matthew Jump of Queensbury and Keith Stewart of Queensbury; his daughter, Samantha Augusta and her husband, Matt of Queensbury; his two grandsons, Alexander and Jaxon Augusta; his sister, Donna LaMere and her husband, Frank of Coxsackie; and two nephews and their families. Frank is also survived by many close friends.

At Frank’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Angelo “Chuck” Catalfamo

Catalfamo Catalfamo1HUDSON FALLS – Angelo “Chuck” Catalfamo, 70, a life-long resident of Hudson Falls passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City.

Born October 6, 1945 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Anthony and Annette (Trombley) Catalfamo.

He was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School where he was recognized as an outstanding athlete in baseball and football.  A friend to all, he was also the Junior Prom King.  Chuck was drafted into the New York Mets organization out of high school, though after two years, an injury ended his pitching career.  Upon returning to Hudson Falls he completed a masonry apprenticeship and began a career in construction.  Through his strong work ethic, positive attitude, vision and faith, he grew his business, A.J. Catalfamo Construction, into a thriving family business, which continues today.

On August 12, 1967, Chuck married his high school sweetheart, Anne Moumblo, at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Chuck made friends easily due to his sunny disposition and fun sense of humor. Though strong in stature, he was a big softy.  He was a friend to all in need and was known for being generous and active in his community. He was a volunteer for the Hudson Falls Girls Softball League for 21 years, serving as a coach, sponsor, and league president.  He continued to mentor young athletes up until his death.  Most importantly, Chuck was a dedicated family man.  His favorite thing was to spend time with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren.  He was always seen watching his daughters’ games and coached many of their softball all-star teams.   He and Anne spent hours watching their grandchildren and took great pleasure in all of their endeavors; he was very proud of his daughters and grandchildren.  In addition to the people in his life, Chuck was always surrounded by beloved pets and had many loyal companions, including his recently deceased dog, Sweet Pea.

In addition to his family, Chuck had a wide circle of friends and business associates.  He could be found most Friday nights having dinner with friends at his favorite spot, the Talk of the Town restaurant.  He also enjoyed trips to Florida to visit friends and watch spring training.

Among the many awards Chuck received, he was just voted into the Section II Capital District Football Hall of Fame.  Previously he was inducted into the Glens Falls Area Baseball Society and Hall of Fame, and was inducted into the Hudson Falls High School Wall of Distinction.  All in all, Chuck was a person who anyone in need could turn to; he did so much for so many.

Besides his parents, Chuck was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Carpenter.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Anne Catalfamo; his two daughters, Lori Kiernan and her husband, Neil of Hudson Falls, Lisa Catalfamo-Flores and her husband Omar of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren, Thomas Kiernan, Neil Kiernan, Anne Kiernan; his sister, Sally Brayman and her husband, Bill of Argyle; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Friends may call on Monday, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 11:00 AM, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, officiating.

A celebration of his life will take place immediately following services at the Talk of the Town Restaurant in Glens Falls.

In his memory, donations may be made to the “Chuck Catalfamo Memorial Fund” in care of “Hudson Falls Central School District” at 1153 Burgoyne Avenue, Fort Edward, NY 12828.  Proceeds will go to the constructions of batting cages for the baseball and softball teams, and to help children and families in need within the Hudson Falls School District.

Bernard John Vaughn

VaughnADAMSVILLE – Bernard John Vaughn, 80, of Adamsville, took the Lord’s hand on Wednesday, January 20, 2016.

Born on March 18, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Erma (Stewart) Vaughn.

Bernie graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1952 and the following year, 1953, he married Margaret Keays.

Bernie was employed at NIBCO while starting his dairy farm business in Kingsbury, which was later presented with a Dairy of Distinction Award.  His faithful German Shepherd, Tanya, was constantly with him during these years.

Bernie built two houses from his own sawmill, the Peg Bern Sawmill.  He and his wife, Peggy, were charter members of the Barnstormers Snowmobile Club and Bernie was a firefighter in the Kingsbury Fire Department.   He also served as deacon for Kingsbury Baptist Church for many years.  Bernie established the Hen House Diner, where he enjoyed joking with the customers.   He also operated the Adamsville Store for several years.   His passion for farming extended into his last summer, where he cut, raked and baled the hayfields of his farm in Adamsville.  Bernie was a man who liked things done right.   His hair was always impeccably combed and his lawn was always impeccably cut.  He enjoyed his early morning ride “around the block”, family gatherings at “The Pond”, his motorcycles and old cars and reading books to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  His sense of humor and the many Bernie-isms will be sorely missed.

Besides his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his brother, Malcolm Vaughn; his sister, Lynnette Vaughn and his son, Kevin J. Vaughn.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Margaret “Peggy” Vaughn; his daughters, Lisa Friedman and her husband, Charles and Karla Rukat and her husband, Tarry; his grandchildren, Heather Tucker and her husband, Jeff, Kerrie Strong and her significant other, Kevin Watrous, Kyle Rukat, Tori and Hilary Vaughn, Derek and Carrie Marie Vaughn, Adisen and Landen Friedman; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; his brother Duane Vaughn and his wife, Barb; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Gospel Lighthouse Church, 30 LaCrosse Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. at Gospel Lighthouse Church, with the Reverend Paul Mead, pastor, officiating and the Reverend Phil Bowen, co-officiating.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family, at Kingsbury Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

In lieu of flowers, Bernard’s family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Kingsbury Cemetery Association, c/o Lois Sullivan, 15 Old Cronin Rd, Queensbury, New York 12804.

The family offers a special thank you to the staff at Adirondack Cardiology and the Cardiac Care Unit at Albany Medical Center for the wonderful care and compassion given to Bernie and his family.

CatoneHUDSON FALLS – Sandy L. Catone, 57, of Mosher Lane, went into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 18, 1958 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Shiralee (Richmond) McCrea.

Sandy was a graduate of Fort Edward High School and on March 13, 1976 she married LeRoy Catone, Sr., in Hudson Falls.

She loved children and ran a day care center at her home where she provided wonderful care and attention to all the children that entered her door.  Sandy enjoyed watching football, especially the Hudson Falls Tigers, also NASCAR racing, with her favorite racer being Number 88, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.  She had a green thumb, growing healthy vegetable gardens from which she made her own tomato sauce.  Sandy loved cooking and would often cook for gatherings at the Gospel Lighthouse Church.  She liked taking rides on her pontoon boat on Stewarts Pond and the Hudson River.  Sandy was on a bowling league where she would bowl with her friends and had a knack for decorating for the holidays. She enjoyed helping her husband and sons in the garage and loved her dogs, Jack, Bear and Copper and her cat, Koda. She also loved to crochet but her favorite activity was spoiling her six grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Sandy was predeceased by her brother, Robert Monroe.

Survivors include her loving husband of 40 years, LeRoy Catone, Sr. of Hudson Falls; her three children, LeRoy Catone, Jr. and his wife, Laura of Whitehall, Patricia May Catone of Hudson Falls and Matt Catone and his girlfriend, Karyn Cassidy of Hudson Falls; her six grandchildren, LeRoy III, Damien, Autumn and Lukas Catone, Jonathan Bennett and Noel Dickinson; her sister, Beth Shields and her husband, Virgil of Hudson Falls; her extended family, Misty Dickinson and her husband of Argyle and Gabriella Istudor and her husband, Alin Popescu of Chicago, Illinois;  as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

The funeral service will follow the calling hours at 5 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Reverend William Kenna, officiating.

Burial will be in the spring, at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

RichardsARGYLE – Leon R. Richards, 77, of Argyle, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on October 26, 1938, in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late Robert and Carmella (Corella) Richards.

After graduating from Hudson Falls High School, Leon continued his education in Culinary Arts.  He enjoyed cooking throughout his life.

On March 30, 1982, he married Donna D. Crawford, at the Bay Road Presbyterian Church in Lake George.

For the past 40 years, he has owned and operated Richards Oil Company in Argyle.  Leon lived and breathed the oil business.  He loved chatting with his customers and “peddling oil”.    When he wasn’t making sure that homes in the north country were warm, Leon spent his time hunting, camping and fishing at Blue Mountain lake.  He had a passion for the family camp on the lake and for years he was a member of the Blue Mountain Lake Club. 

Leon was a founding supporter of both the Independence Yankee and the Liberty Proclaimer Newspapers.   As a staunch conservative, he was a patriot who believed in less government, more individual responsibility, owning a business, working hard and giving back to the community.

Leon also coached Little League Baseball, when his sons were young.  He was a longstanding member of the Oneida Community Church.   Leon had a deep love for the Lord and his church family.  He will be remembered for being a very giving and generous man, who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Faye Richards.

Leon is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Donna Richards of Argyle; his step mother, Grace Richards of Saratoga Springs; his children, Jeffrey L. Richards and his wife, Michelle of Argyle, Kellie Anne (Richards) Stewart and her husband, Butch of Hickory, NC; Mark L. Richards and his wife, Jacquie of Fairbanks, Alaska and Scott L. Richards and his wife, Nicole of Glens Falls; his two step sons, Daniel Coltrain of Hudson Falls and John Coltrain and his wife, Erika of Corinth; 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; two sisters, Carrolle Kelly and her husband, Gilbert of NC and Cherie Luke and her husband, Ken of Colorado; his brother, William Saunders and his wife, Bea of Argyle; his step sister, Carol Biggie and her husband, Dan of Saratoga Springs; his step brother, Harold “Skip” Moore of CT; his first wife, Bella Harrington of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, January 22, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be 11 on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Oneida Community Church on Sunnyside Road in Queensbury, with Reverend David McCane, pastor officiating.

Burial will be in the spring at Scotch Cemetery in Bay Road in Queensbury.

In lieu of flowers, Leon’s family has requested memorial donations be sent to the Michael J Fox Foundation, for Parkinson’s Research, C/O Team Fox Adirondacks, 5 Jerome Lane, South Glens Falls, 12803, payable to MJFF Fundation.

The family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Garner, the nurses, technicians and staff of Tower 3 at the Glens Falls Hospital for all their care and compassion given to Leon and his family.

AustinFORT EDWARD – Walter N. Austin, 85, of Fort Edward, passed away comfortably at the Glens Falls Hospital, with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, after a long illness.

Born on April 1, 1930 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Elmer and Florence Austin.

Following graduation from Glens Falls High School, Walter enlisted in the United States Navy.   After his discharge, he married Virginia Dickinson on December 23, 1951 at the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church.

Walter began his working career at Finch and Pruyn, but was employed as an auto mechanic for most of his life.  He worked for many local shops and owned several of his own.

Walter loved being around people and was willing to help anyone in need.   He was an easy going man that got along with everyone he met.  Walter was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed bowling and making maple syrup.  In his younger years, he loved to dance and play the guitar.

Beside his parents, Walter was predeceased by his daughters, Sharon Austin Frey and Cindy Lou Otis, his son, Kevin Austin and his sister, Ruth Bovee.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Virginia Austin of Fort Edward; his three children, Don Austin of Fort Edward, Edwin Austin and his partner, Diane McLean of Gansevoort and Deborah Ausitn and her fiancé, James LaCourse of East Montpellier, VT; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will follow the calling hour at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Derek Hansen, pastor of the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in Moss Street Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 959 Mt Royal Plaza, State Route 9, Queensbury, NY 12804.
