Marie (Bentley) Nichols

FORT EDWARD – Marie (Bentley) Nichols, 84, of Fort Edward, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019, with her beloved family at her side.

Born on August 25, 1934, in Hudson Falls she was the daughter of the late Vaughn and Alice (Welsh) Bentley.

Marie was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.  She then furthered her educations by taking accounting courses, following her graduation.

On March 22, 1953, she married, Tom Nichols at the Hudson Falls United Methodist Church.

Marie worked for many years at Sheridan Catheter in Argyle, retiring in 2000.

She was a giving lady, who enjoyed watching hockey, dancing, traveling and swimming. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Vaughn Bentley, Jr., her sister, Alice Simmons and her granddaughter, Sara Hunt.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Nichols of Fort Edward; her son, Terry Nichols of Hudson Falls; her daughters, Sharlene Hunt and her husband, Richard of Hudson Falls and Pamela Elderkin and her husband, Bryan of Jefferson, NY; her beloved grandchildren, Tiffany and Jessica Nichols, Peter Hunt and his wife, Jenny, Jared Hunt and partner, Steve Walsh, Rachel Kaidas and her husband, Michael, Gillian German and her husband, Adam, Gene Mattice and partner, Heather Morava, Tyler Elderkin and Ashley Elderkin; several great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Monday, May 6, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
