Barbara E. (SMITH) Arnold

QUEENSBURY – Barbara E. (SMITH) Arnold passed away at home, May 2nd, 2019 surrounded by her loving children.

Born on December 4`, 1934 in Fenimore, NY. She was the daughter of the late Ellen and Powell Smith.

Barbara graduated from Glens Falls High School, class of 1952.

She was employed at Glens Falls Insurance Company, The Lumberjack Restaurant in Blue Mountain Lake, NY and she retired from General Electric in Fort Edward after 25 years of service. After her retirement, she was employed by TPI Payroll Service.

Barbara was a Life member of The Glen Star Chapter #95 of Eastern Star.

She enjoyed square dancing, riding her motorcycle, going out to eat with her family and friends, doing word search puzzles, and watching her Soaps, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. She very much enjoyed listening to old time country music, especially Smokey Greene. She was a very generous and giving person and never put herself before others. She will be deeply missed by all who new and loved her.

Barbara married Ralph Arnold in 1953 and had three children, Steven R. Arnold of Hudson Falls, Ronald R. Arnold (Debra) of Lake Luzerne, and Marilyn R. Williams (Jerry) of Lake Luzerne. She had six grandchildren, Kimberly Delisle, Andrew Arnold, and the late Matthew Arnold, Melissa Spangler (Matt), Bryan and Timothy Arnold, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her Blue Mountain Lake family. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Donald P. Smith (Barb) and sister Alberta Pedersen Hill.

Per Mom’s request, services will be private for the family. Rest in peace Mom, God knows you suffered enough.

The family has asked that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.

We know Mom gave to them all. The family wishes to thank her neighbors, Red and Nancy Bell for all of the support and friendship given to our mother. She loved you guys. To Roger Vannier for picking up the Chronicle and your many visits that she enjoyed so much. To Glens Falls Hospital, Washington Center, and High Peaks Hospice for all that you do so well.
