Diane J. McCarthy

McCarthy, DianeHUDSON FALLS – Diane J. McCarthy, 85, of Baker Street, passed away on Saturday October 21, 2017, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a long illness.

Born on August 17, 1932 Ft. Montgomery, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Stevens) Reynolds.

She had a wonderful marriage to Jack McCarthy, before he passed away in 1989.

Diane was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She was a wonderful cook.  Her five children were fortunate to come home from school to warm cookies.

She enjoyed T.V. games especially, Family Feud.    Friends and family always had to have her home to watch her favorite soaps, The Bold and The Beautiful and The Young and the Restless.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them.

Besides her parents and husband, Diane was predeceased by her three children, Karen Conklin, Kevin McCarthy and Virginia McCarthy; her three brothers, George, Wayne, and Lenny Reynolds; and her step daughter, Jeanne McCarthy.

Survivors include her children, Paul Rodriguez of TN and Denise Pacher of Hudson Falls; her step children, Carol Sprague and her husband, Darrin of N.J., and Mike McCarthy of Greenwich; her sister, Marjorie Rizzo of Washingtonville; her special daughter in law, Alice McCarthy; her grandchildren, Brittney and Courtney Celeste, Kevin McCarthy and his wife, Dani, Kirstie McCarthy, Jeremy McCarthy and Jeanne McCarthy; her great grandchildren, Kaylee and Sage Batcher, Shania Decker and Alaska McCarthy; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A graveside service will follow the calling hours at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Clara B. McCarthy

McCarthy, ClaraHUDSON FALLS – Clara B. McCarthy, 95, of John Street, passed away peacefully, after a short illness, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, July 2, 2017.

Born on July 20, 1921, in Port Henry, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ann (Lane) Breen.

Clara was a graduate of Port Henry High School.

On May 26, 1956, she married James T. McCarthy, at St. Patrick’s Church in Port Henry.  Together they have shared 54 wonderful years together.

Clara had the distinction of standing at the foot of the newly completed Champlain Bridge in 1929 with Franklin D. Roosevelt and standing at the foot of the New Champlain bridge at the 2011 opening, 82 years later.

She enjoyed going on motorcycle rides with her husband and sons, going to the monthly birthday club meetings at the Peppermill and doing yard work.  Clara was known for being an amazing woman, who at the age of 93 years old, was still tending to her lawn and home.  She loved going to her daughter’s sheep farm, solving the morning crossword puzzles and spending a week every year with her family in a lake house in the Adirondacks.  Clara was known for making the best macaroni and cheese in the world.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James. T. McCarthy, who passed away on January 11, 2011, her brother, James Breen, her sister, Ann Oligny and her daughter in law, Melanie McCarthy.

She is survived by her children, Thomas McCarthy and his companion, Donna Russell of Chicopee, Mass, Jeffrey McCarthy of Hartford, Peter McCarthy of Hudson Falls, Christopher McCarthy and his wife, Beth of Hudson Falls and Marianne McCarthy and her husband, Kevin of Charlton, Mass; six grandchildren, Ryan, Brent, Kyle, Nicholas, Aidan and Kierra; her sister, Mary Toomb of the Bronx; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. on Friday, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
