Kay M. (Alden) McDonald Bordeau

HUDSON FALLS – Kay M. (Alden) McDonald Bordeau, 80, went into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility.

Born on March 29, 1939, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late James and Alice (Beane) Alden.

She is survived by her children, Jack McDonald and his wife, Lisa, Mike McDonald and his wife, Bonnie, Mark McDonald and his wife, Kim and Bill (Katina) McDonald; her five grandchildren, Shannon McDonald, Mary-Kay Schwab and her husband, Jeremy, Laura Garrant and her husband, Bryan, Kayla McDonald and Megan McDonald, ; two great-grandchildren, Xavier Schwab and Royal Garrant; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Kay’s request, all services will be private.

Lester S. Moumblo

HUDSON FALLS – Lester S. Moumblo, 69, of Hudson Falls passed away on August 31, 2019 in the warmth and comfort of his home after an 11 year battle with cancer caused by exposure to Agent Orange.

Born on September 7, 1949, he was the son of the late Lester G. and Mary (Forth) Moumblo.

Les proudly served his county during the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Army. He was drafted in 1969 and served in the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles”. Les received an honorable discharge in 1971.

In addition to his parents, Les was predeceased by his sister, Nancy J. Colvin. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Jane; his son, Samuel (Taylor Winney); sisters, Anne Catalfamo, Leslie (Will) Vasquez, Joan Moumbleaux; and mother-in-law, Fanny Gaulin.

As per the family’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Thursdayat Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, in the town of Stillwater.

The family would like to thank Dr. Donald R. Merrihew, Jr. and his wonderful staff at Convenient Medical Care for their endless love and support.

Lois Kelley

HUDSON FALLS – Lois Kelley, 83, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 following a long illness.

Born on October 7, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Margaret (Penders) Bartlett.

On December 26, 1953, she married her husband, Clarence Kelley. They were married for 63 wonderful years before he passed away in 2016.

Lois was never a fan of animals until her family bought her “Sassy” who changed her world. She also loved playing golf and card nights with her siblings. Lois enjoyed baking and was known as the “Pie Lady” to her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Kelley; her son, Darrin Kelley; a grandson, Richard Kelley; and her siblings, Dennis Bartlett, John Bartlett, Gillette Bartlett, Richard “Dick” Bartlett, Margaret Prevost and Pat Foster.

Survivors include her son, Howard Kelley and his wife, Karen; her daughter, Kathleen Sweet and her significant other, Brook Waters; her grandchildren, Howard Kelley, Jr. and his wife, Val, Angela Kelley, Jeremy Kelley, Charles Passno, Dina Passno, Shawn Sweet, Lucy Sweet, Darrin Kelley, Jr., Kristin Kelley and Breanna Kelley; her sisters, Lona Jennings, Cindy Porter, Marilla Washburn, Michelle Kelley and Ann of Florida; her brothers, Clayton Bartlett, Lee Bartlett, Larry Bartlett and David Bartlett; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren.

Ann J. Healy

HUDSON FALLS – Ann J. Healy passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2019, with family by her side.

Ann was born on October 16, 1942 to the late Thomas and Jean (Brown) Casey.

She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and went on to St. Peter’s School of Nursing in Albany.    Ann worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at Hallmark Nursing Center in Queensbury.

On February 12, 1966, she married John “Jack” Healy at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.  He passed away on November 9, 2014, after spending 48 wonderful years together. 

Ann was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls for many years.  In her retirement, Ann and her husband, Jack enjoyed time in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Ann loved her family and always put others first. She enjoyed music, swimming and spending time at the family camp in Harrisburg Lake, NY.

Ann is survived by her three children, Timothy Healy and his wife, Amy, Michael Healy and his wife, Melissa Ferrie-Healy and Sheila Brazie and her husband, Scott; her grandchildren, Ryan, Jack, Matthew, Charlotte and Luke; step grandchildren, Emily and Jeramy; her two sisters, Colleen Donahue and Mary Ellen Britt; sister in law, Shelia McLean; brother in law, Thomas Healy and several nieces , nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Ann’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the Park in Hudson Falls.

William Philip Simmonds, Jr,

GLENS FALLS – William Philip Simmonds, Jr, formerly of Glens Falls NY, died peacefully in Ticonderoga, NY on Aug 1st.

He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. William P. Simmonds who resided in Glens Falls most of their lives. Bill was born in 1949 in New York City.

The family later moved to Glens Falls where he resided most of his life.

Bill attended Glens Falls High School and then Trinity Pawling School, graduating in 1968. He had a lifelong love and knowledge of sports which led him to sports writing at both Trinity Pawling and Waynesburg University, where he graduated in 1972. He then attended Delphi University where he specialized in Park and Recreation Management.

Bill always had a great sense of humor, a ready smile and kind word and hugs for his three siblings, their spouses and his 13 nieces and nephews. He loved family gatherings and fishing and golfing with his Dad and brothers.

Bill is survived by his three siblings, Jean S. Williamson and her husband Tom of Williamsburg, VA, Dr. Robert T. Simmonds and his wife, Jean Ann, of Pittsburgh, PA and Jeffrey T. Simmonds and his wife, Ellen of Cos Cob, CT.

The family will gather in Glens Falls to celebrate Bill with a memorial service this fall.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Eldercare in Ticonderoga, N.Y. for their loving, dedicated and excellent care shown to Bill over the last 5 years.

Mary Helen Renaud

HUDSON FALLS – Mary Helen Renaud, 95, of Weston Avenue, passed away on Monday August 19, 2019, at The Pines at Glens Falls.

Born on September 22, 1923 in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Verner J. Renaud and Bridie M. (Horan)Renaud.

Mary graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls. She continued her education at the College of St. Rose, Albany, where she received her BA and at SUNY at Albany, where she received her MS in Library Science.

Mary taught school at Westport Central School in Westport, NY and at St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Fails. She was employed at the New Rochelle Public Library and at the Saratoga Springs Public Library. For 29 years, Mary was the librarian at the Glens Falls Junior High School and for 18 years at the Hudson Falls Central Schools during summer school. After her retirement as a librarian, she worked at Heber Travel Service in Queensbury.

Mary was a communicant at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Fails, where she was active as Eucharistic Minister, lector, member of the Prayer and Worship Committee and Ella’s Cupboard.  She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters.

She was a charter and longtime member of the Queensbury Country Club, and a member of the Flowers to the Living Committee of the Hudson Falls/Kingsbury Chamber of Commerce. One of her proudest achievements was being active from the inception of ITWA (Improving the Teaching of World Affairs) in the Glens Falls Schools.

Most important to Mary was her faith, her families (her birth family, the Horrigans who “adopted” her and her church family) and her many friends.  Very precious to Mary were children and young people. She also enjoyed traveling, golf, swimming, photography, cooking and the times spent with family and friends. She was a rabid Notre Dame and Yankee fan.

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her brother, Verner J. Renaud, Jr., her niece, Lt. Col.  Karen Magnet (US Army), and her sisters-in-law, Frances Renaud and Gladys Renaud.

Survivors include her nephews, David Renaud of Washington and Daniel Renaud of Schaumburg, Il; her nieces, of Edgewood, Md, Nancy Rush and her husband, Eric and children, Justin, Megan and Kayla of Long Valley, NJ and Debra Hill and her husband, Clint of Mt. Arlington, NJ; her good friend, Mary Horrigan of Hudson Falls; several cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the Park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

Robert Marshall Holden

WILTON – Robert Marshall Holden, 86, of Wilton, N.Y. passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center after a short illness, on Friday, August 16, 2019.

Robert was born on June 15, 1933 in Scotia, N.Y. He was the son of the late Frank B. Holden and Senith L. (Griffin) Holden from Wilton.

Robert was married to Kathleen (Guerin) Holden on May 25, 1955 in South Glens Falls and together they had five daughters. They later divorced after 23 years of marriage but remained good friends.

Robert grew up in South Glens Falls and attended South Glens Falls High School where he was a lettered soccer team player.

From 1954 to 1957, he served in the United States Army, H/S Company, 94th Engineer Battalion (Construction), APO 154. Robert served during the Korean War and was stationed in Stuttgart, West Germany. During his time in the Army, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Svc Medal, Carbine (Expert) Edge and the Army Occupational Medal (Germany). He became a member of the Adirondack Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association and VFW Post 2457 in Glens Falls.

Robert’s occupations included 19 years as a machine tender at Finch Pruyn in Glens Falls and a member of the Paper Maker’s Union. He was also a member of the Civil Defense. While attending Skidmore College, he became a licensed masseur and worked at the Roosevelt Baths in Saratoga Springs for many years. He owned and trained two standard bred racehorses (ES KD and Tomahawk), and also worked as a Pinkerton at the Saratoga Springs Racetrack. Robert also worked as a security guard for Byrnes Security Agency in Glens Falls. He also spent time working for Saratoga Meals on Wheels and the Franklin Community Center in Saratoga Springs. His last occupation was as a travel/tourism information representative for the Adirondacks at exits 17-18 rest area on Northway 87.

Among his hobbies, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, skiing, skating, dancing, bowling, country music, playing the harmonica and spoons, playing BINGO, betting on horses at the Saratoga Racetrack and going to the Saratoga Racino. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends who he loved very much. He will be deeply missed by all.

Besides his parents, Robert is predeceased by two brothers, Ernest S. Holden and Raymond S. Holden of Wilton.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Kathleen and their five daughters, Kathleen R. (Ernst) Holden of West Milton, Colleen and Raymond Waldron of Moreau, Bonnie and Daniel Labshere of Hudson Falls, Barbara and Robert Maynard of Moreau; 15 grandchildren, Robin R. H. Ernst, Albert E. Ernst, Jennifer L. (Ernst) and Wayne Roshong, Michael Morgan, Jr. and Dana, Rachel (Waldron) and Gregg Ryan, Nathaniel Waldron, Blair and Joan Holden, Daniel Labshere, Jr. and Tia, David and Amy Labshere, Joseph Labshere, Veronica Maynard; 14 great-grandchildren, Jermaine K. Owens, Jr., Lydia Roshong, Chloe Roshong, Alise Morgan, Taylor Morgan, Michael W. Morgan, Isabella Ryan, Brantley Ryan, Gabriel Holden, Mason Holden, Cooper Holden, Jasper Holden, Noah Labshere and Giovanni Hayes; his sister-in-law, Mary L. Holden; three nephews, Raymond Holden, Barry Holden and Frank and Shari Holden; a niece, Mary E. (Holden) Primeau; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Prayers will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Father Tony Childs, officiating.

There will be a private graveside service at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater, with full military honors, at a later date.

Arthur LaPorte

HUDSON FALLS – Arthur LaPorte, 93, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019.

Born on September 16, 1926 in Rome, NY he was the son of the late Laura and Herbert Warner.

Arthur proudly served his country with the United States Marines during World War II and the Korean War. Due to his service, Arthur received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.

On September 2, 1955, he married Geraldine Belden in Granville, NY.

Arthur was a long-time employee at Finch Pruyn.

Many of his hobbies include his love for photographing weddings, jitterbugging with the love of his life, Geraldine, driving his tractor but most of all, enjoyed spending time with his family. He was proud to be involved with Matthew Rozell in his research and books on World War II. Arthur assisted Matthew in bringing his story to students.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Susan; a granddaughter, GeriAnne; and a great-grandson, Caleb Chase.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Geri LaPorte of Hudson Falls; four children, Brenda LaPorte and her life partner, Tom Underwood of Hudson Falls, Diane Chase and her husband, Joe of South Glens Falls, Arthur LaPorte of Hudson Falls and Sheila Bain and her husband, Jim of Salem; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At the family’s request, all services will be private.

Arthur “Art” A. Hart

KINGSBURY – Arthur “Art” A. Hart, 75, of Kingsbury, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

Born on November 9, 1943 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Edward and Lucy (Morehouse) Hart.

On September 28, 1968, he married Sandie L. Hart at St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  She passed away on June 29, 2016, after 48 years of marriage.

For many years, Art was employed at Bigelow’s Fuel Oil in Fort Edward.

He enjoyed camping, playing pool and darts and watching the NY Yankees Art was an avid NASCAR fan who especially loved to follow the Earnhardt’s.    Most important in Art’s life was his family.  He loved spending every moment he could with them.

Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, Artie Hart, Jr., his brother, Albert Hart, his sister, Evelyn Hart and his son in law, Kenny VanNess.

Survivors include his five children, Shawn Hart of Kingsbury, Tina VanNess, also of Kingsbury, Jeff Hart of Gansevoort, Mindy Suprenant and her husband, Mark of Fort Edward and Megan Catellier  and her husband, Art of Fort Edward; his grandchildren, Patrick VanNess and his wife, Terra, Stephanie Anselmo and her husband, Travis, Crystal VanNess, Jordan Suprenant, Taylor Suprenant, Lacey Catellier and Aiden Catellier; three great grandchildren, Dominick VanNess, Darl VanNess and Aurora Anselmo; his brother, Edward Hart and his wife, Anna of Kingsbury; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his close friend, Albert Jenkins of Fort Ann.

Robert E. “Bobby” Labshere, III

HUDSON FALLS – Robert E. “Bobby” Labshere, III, 36, of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly, on Monday, August 12, 2019.

Born on April 14, 1983, he was the son of Mary (Lewis) and Aike Drenth and his father the late Robert E. Labshere, II.

Following Bobby’s graduation from Granville High School, he attended Cobleskill State College.

After college, he enlisted in the United States Air Force.  Bobby proudly served from 2003 to 2008.  During his tour, he served a year in Afghanistan as a Mechanic Supervisor and had an opportunity to service Air Force One.  Bobby also was a member of the Air Force color guard, representing his branch at Veterans Funerals.

After his discharge, he worked as an independent contractor in Iraq. 

Bobby was a natural athlete, he played football, baseball and at one time he played volleyball alone, against 15 other people and won.  He also enjoyed watching sports on television, especially the NY Yankees and Buffalo Bills.

Bobby loved to spend time with his son, Brayden.  Over several summers, they spent many beautiful days going the Great Escape together.  He loved taking part in any adventures with his son.   Brayden was the center of his life.  He was a wonderful father and a great son, who always let his mother know he loved her.  Bobby had a wonderful sense of humor and could make everyone he met laugh.  He will be missed by his family and his friends. 

Survivors include his son, Brayden Labshere; his mother and step father, Mary and Aike Drenth; his stepmother, Lisa Joerg; his maternal grandmother, Jean Lewis Bartlett; his paternal grandparents, Robert and Sandra Bigelow; his sister, Kelly Alexander and brother in law, Josh Alexander; his sister, Sara Labshere; his brothers, Christopher Labshere and Alex Labshere; and many aunts, uncles, one niece, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, August 16, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home.

Following the Funeral Service, Bobby will be laid to rest, with full military honors, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Chris W. Bradley

FORT EDWARD – Chris W. Bradley, 60, of McIntyre Street in Fort Edward, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019, at the North East Center in Kingston.

Born on September 26, 1958, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Norman and Ann (Brayton) Bradley, Sr.

Chris attended Hudson Falls High School and soon after was employed at a sawmill in Lake George.  At the age of 21, Chris was in a serious car accident, that left him paralyzed for life.  Through all of this, he had a wonderful outlook and always wore a smile.  Chris never felt sorry for himself or complained.   He lived alone but always enjoyed the company of his family and good friends.  Chris loved sitting outside in the sun, enjoying the Buffalo Bills football games and watching NASCAR.  The car of his choice was a Chevy Camaro, but he ended up with a van that allowed him to see the world.  Chris lived through a lot and made lemonade out of lemons.  He left a huge print on the lives that he touched.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Norman Bradley.

Survivors include his sisters, Sherry Dufour and her husband, Mike of Hartford and Bonnie Dufour and her husband, Ronald of Vermont; his brother, Rick Bradley of Hudson Falls; his special friends, Carol Havens of Hudson Falls and Scott Garnsey of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chris will be laid to rest next to his mother and brother at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury, on Thursday August 29, 2019, at 11 a.m.

Spencer Reese Lewis

GREENWICH – Spencer Reese Lewis, passed away peacefully at the age of 9 months on Wednesday, August 7, 2019.

He was born on November 5, 2018, in Glens Falls, he was the son of David J. Lewis and Andrea R. Benway.

From his first day in this world, Spencer was a fighter.   Everyone who came in contact with him, fell in love.  Spencer was an all-around happy baby that made everyone who met him fell in love with his big, contagious smile.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Catherine Benway, his paternal great grandparents, Pete and Frances DeLong, Bea Chadwick and Shirley Graves.

He is survived his father David J. Lewis and his mother Andrea R. Benway; his sisters, Justice Harris, Liberty Benway and his twin sister, Serenity Lewis; his paternal grandparents, Pam and Bill Graves; his maternal grandfather, Patrick Benway; his maternal great grandmother, Joanne “Nana” Moffitt; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

All services for Spencer will be private.

Spencer H. Baldwin

HUDSON FALLS – Spencer H. Baldwin, 79, of Dean Road in Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 9, 2019.

Born on August 6, 1940, in Whitehall, he was the son of the late James and Marjorie (Crouch) Baldwin.

After his graduation from Granville High School, he joined the U.S. Army.  During his service, he was selected 4th Army Soldier of the year.

In 1963, he joined the Machinist Apprentice Program at Sandy Hill Iron and Brass in Hudson Falls and retired in 1995, as Manufacturing Manager.  During his retirement, he and his wife, Sandra traveled extensively throughout the United States, visiting all but one of the major national parks and the Caribbean.

Spencer enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling, caring for his lawn and garden, and just enjoying life. He was a kind and thoughtful man, who will be missed by many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, James Baldwin.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra (Bain) Baldwin; his sons, Scott (Stephanie Schulze) and Stephen and his wife, Laurie (Nolan) Baldwin; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, August 15, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be private, and interment will be at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

A celebration of Spencer’s life will be held at a later date.
