Cesar Sanchez

sanchezHudsonFalls – Cesar Sanchez, 38, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Glens FallsHospital surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle.

Born December 23, 1974 in Santa Clara, Mexico, Cesar was able to realize the American Dream.  After coming to the United States at age 11, Cesar worked hard to better himself through his education.  As a middle school student, Cesar attended NativityMissionSchool on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and became aware of the power of helping others.  Each summer, he was able to visit the school’s summer camp in Lake Placid and began to develop the leadership skills necessary to help hundreds of others overcome challenging environments.  It was these skills that earned him a scholarship to LaSalleAcademy and eventually a full scholarship to attend LeMoyneCollege in Syracuse, NY.  In keeping with his passion for helping others, Cesar worked in the Admissions Department for 15 years at the University of Albany and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of others.

Cesar’s life revolved around his family and friends and he had a talent for making others feel special.  He enjoyed traveling, music, dancing, hiking, golf, swimming, bocce and numerous other outdoor activities.  Above all, he loved playing with his girls, and spending time with them talking and learning new things.  A single life produces much radiance when that person follows his dreams, tries to do what is right, and refuses to let obstacles stand in the way. Cesar did all that. The world is better for his having lived. We are better for having known him. Though his life may have ended too soon, it was a life complete in so many ways.

Cesar is survived by the “sunshines” of his life, his wife Susan, and two beautiful daughters Mia and Ava.  Additional survivors include his family, parents, Juan and Aurora Sanchez, his sister, Isabel, her fiancé George, and brother, Edgar all of New   York City.  His in-laws, Joseph and Sondra Michaud, Paul and Linda Michaud, Timothy Copeland, Belinda and Steve Sundberg, Patti Michaud, Colleen and Doug Smith, several nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and special friends whom he loved very much.  Additionally Cesar had a special bond with Father Jack Podsiadlo who he always believed had a hand in all of his successes.

The family would like to personally thank all of the wonderful people who have helped care for Cesar, namely Dr. Paul R. Filion, Dr. Joseph Yarze and the many nurses on 3W who now seem like family, especially Jeff and Korrey.  These are the true angels on earth.

At Cesar’s request, there will be neither calling hours nor a funeral service.

A celebration of life ceremony will take place in Lake Placid, NY later this fall.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship has been set up in Cesar’s name to help others.  Donations can be made to Director of Development, NY Nativity 740 Manida St. Bronx, NY 10474

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carleton Funeral home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls

    Dear Sanchez Family,

Cesar was my boss at SUNY but much more than that we were true friends. Cesar was generous, helpful, kind and always with a smile on this face, truly one of a kind. We shared many jokes, stories and laughs over our years together. Cesar loved talking about this family and showing off pictures of this girls, he was a very proud father. I have many fond memories of Cesar that I will treasure forever. I know my life has been enriched by having know him.
Cesar will always have a spot in my heart, I will carry him with me always and forever.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
    Love your friend,

    Sanchez Family,

I am profoundly saddened to learn of Ceasar’s passing. I recruited Caesar to attend Le Moyne in HEOP and then Isabel so I feel like a member of the family. I was delighted when he decided to go into admissions at SUNY Albany. He was such a fine young man. There are really no words to express my grief. Eventhough God has taken him, the loving memories I have of him will keep him alive in my heart. I will keep Caesar, Isabel, and the rest of the family in my prayers.

    Sincerely,
    Carl A. Thomas

    To the Sanchez Family:

Please accept my condolences on the passing of my colleague and friend, Cesar. As a NYC high school college counselor, my students and I always looked forward to his visits. He told me many times that he saw himself in so many of my students and the relationships he formed with them were instantaneous and genuine. On a more personal note, he always shared information about the loves of his life, his wife and daughters. I will remember the great times we had at many a NYSACAC conference, especially climbing the rock wall at the Hall of Science. You will be missed, my friend.
