George E. Smith

HUDSON FALLS – George E. Smith, 87, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the Pine’s Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Glens Falls,

Born on February 1, 1926, in Hartford, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Sophie May (Parker) Smith.

George attended Hartford School.

He served with the United States Army, stationed in Germany driving ambulances.

George worked for the Manley Farm in Kingsbury and Strong’s Farm where he took care of race horses, and served as a farm hand. He also worked at the Hitchcock Farm in Kingsbury.

His greatest joy was to go to family picnics.

In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by two sisters, Martha Tamaro and Shirley Horton and a brother, Johnson R. Smith.

Survivors include six sisters, Doris Blake of Hudson Falls, Charlotte Girarde of Glens Falls, Betty J. Smith of Hudson Falls, Norma LaRock of Hudson Falls, Joyce Aubrey of Hudson Falls and Pauline Perrotte of South Glens Falls; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

Prayers will be offered at 8 P.M. of Friday evening at the funeral home by the Rev. Steve Smith, Chaplain of High Peaks Hospice, officiating.
