Alice Henderson

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Alice Henderson, 73, went into the arms of the Lord, after a short illness, on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on September 24, 1946 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Evelyn (LaRoe) McClouth.

On February 13, 1966, she married Clark Henderson at the First Baptist  Church in Hudson Falls.  He passed away on August 18, 1997.

Alice enjoyed her family and loved surprises.  She took great pride in planting her flowers and watching them grow.   Alice found great pleasure in listening to smooth jazz and watching movies.   She was very proud to have supplied wonderful meals, such as pots full of chili, beef stew and spaghetti and meatballs to the guys who worked with her husband, Clark in the boiler house at Finch Pruyn.

Alice was an independent lady who had definite opinions. She had to have life her way, or no way.  Although she always stood her ground, Alice could be persuaded to do anything for her loving grandson, Benjamin.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed by her family.

Besides her parents and husband, Alice was predeceased by her brother, Ted McClouth and her sister, Colleen Burgess.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Denton and her husband, Karl of South Glens Falls; her grandson, Benjamin Denton, also of South Glens Falls; and her sister, Marsha Pachamay of Mass.

Per Alice’s wishes, there will be no services.

“Mom” always had a smile, wave and friendly hello for me every time she saw me. Always offered advice on my plants. She had a glimmer in her eye whenever she spoke of her loving daughter and grandson. She will be missed, but I know in my heart she left this earth on her terms. A strong willed, woman, that I am lucky to have known. I’ll be watching for you fluttering around the flowers. Rest easy my friend.

“Mom” always had a warm smile, a wave or a cheery hello every time she saw me. She was happy to offer advice on my flowers and plants, and always had a sparkle in her eyes when she talked about her loving daughter and grandson. As in life, she left this earth on her terms. I will certainly miss her.

Even though I haven’t seen Alice in a long time, I will always remember her fondly. She was there when my mother passed and did so much for us, I even named my daughter’s middle name for her. She could always make me laugh. There are so many great family memories of her. Now she is in the arms of the angels with Uncle Clark.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Alice’s passing. I have many fond memories of both her and Uncle Clark. She took great pride in decorating for Christmas. Her trees were always so detailed and beautiful. She also definitely had a green thumb. Then there were her cake’s and her talent with decorating them. She was always so busy. Never stopped moving and a woman of many talents. She most certainly had her opinions but she also thought of others before herself. Her laugh was infectious. May memories from the past comfort you and bring you peace in the days ahead.
