John Stephen Wells, Sr.

Wells. JohnSOUTH GLENS FALLS – John Stephen Wells, Sr., 67, of South Glens Falls, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at St. Peter’s Hospice on Albany.

Born on July 13, 1947, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Lillian (Pease) Wells, Sr.

John’s wife, Carolyn Wells, passed away on December 11, 1995.

For many years John was a dairy farmer, working the farm with his wife until 1994.  He then worked for Duke Concrete for several years.

He was an avid New York Yankees fan and was a huge WWE wrestling enthusiast.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Florida and was active in the Dick Ladd Square Dance Association.

In addition to his wife and parents, John is predeceased by a brother, Joseph Wells and a sister, Linda Blake.

Survivors include a son, John S. Wells, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Hudson Falls and a daughter, Valerie L. Wells of Hudson Falls; his step-children Gena Wells and Becky; his grandchildren, Brittany Porlier, Glenn Hurd, Jr., Koreena Hurd, Shyanne Hurd, Lucas Hurd, Stephen Wells and Tiana Wells; his step grandchildren Harley Wells  and Aaron Wells;his brothers and sisters, Kenneth Wells, Jr., Wayne Wells, James Wells, Patricia Wells-Cook , Ellen DeRusha, Joan Heustis and Marlene Wells; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

Following the calling hours, all are welcome to a gathering at Val’s home.

A graveside service will take place in the spring at Morningside Cemetery in the town of Hartford.

Memorial donations in John’s memory may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Emma E. (MacDonald) Parsons

ParsonsHUDSON FALLS and PAWLETT, VT – Emma E. (MacDonald) Parsons, 94, most recently of Johnsburg, went to be with her Lord, on Monday, November 24, 2014.

Born on February 12, 1920, in Chestertown, she was the oldest child of the late Howard and Katherine (Hill) Underwood.

Emma was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

On March 22, 1940, she married Leslie MacDonald.  He passed away on August 6, 1983, after 43 years of marriage.  On January 9, 1988, she married Edward Parsons, Jr.; he passed away in October of 1999.

Emma was a Washington County Home Health Aide for 15 years and was a member of the American Bell Association.  Her Christian faith was an important part of her life.    She attended the Gospel Lighthouse Church and was a founding member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle, where she taught Sunday school for 35 years.  Emma was also a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Association and attended the Granville Assembly of God Church.   Since 2009, Emma has been attending Sodom Community Church in North Creek, to be with her family.    She was a wonderful lady who not only put her church as the center of her life, she lived her faith.  Emma could make friends everywhere, inside and outside the walls of a church.    The other core of her life was her family.   Emma felt so blessed to have the affection of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.  Her family loved her greatly and will miss her deeply, but they know she is with her Lord.

Emma was a part of the Wells, Vermont Senior Citizens and was an active member of the Gore Mountain Senior Citizens, where she was known as the “Sunshine Lady”.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her two sons, Raymond MacDonald and Douglas MacDonald and her infant daughter, Gloria MacDonald, her sister Katherine Tyminski, her brothers, Clarence, Charles, Phillip and Ralph Underwood.

She is survived by her children, Noreen Bennett (Edward) of Hadley, Allen MacDonald (Beverly)of Delaware, Kathleen Allen ( Ronald) of Johnsburg, Darrel MacDonald (Debbie) of Fort Edward, Lorna Outten (Byron) of Delaware and Candice Blake (Pat) of PA; her 26 grandchildren; her 51 plus great grandchildren; her 4 plus great, great grandchildren; her daughter in law, Beverly MacDonald of North Creek; her brothers, George Underwood and Ernest Underwood both of Hudson Falls, Harry Underwood of South Glens Falls and Leo Underwood of Coeymans Hallow; many nieces and nephews; and special sisters in law.

Friends may call on Friday from 10 to 12 Noon at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow at 12 Noon on Friday at the funeral home, with her son in law, the Reverend Ronald N. Allen, pastor of the Sodom Community Church in North Creek, officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Maureen J. Lukaszewicz

LukaszewiczHUDSON FALLS – Maureen Jude Lukaszewicz of River St. in Hudson Falls passed away Friday, November 21, 2014, surrounded by her family.

Born on June 5, 1967, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Sandra Lukaszewicz.

She loved animals; she also loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed traveling, bicycling, and going to the racetrack.

Maureen worked at The Pines in Glens Falls for the last 16 years as a Dietary Aide. She was a dedicated and hard worker.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Maureen helped care for both her parents in their last years.

She is survived by her siblings Bernie Lukaszewicz (Mary) of Lake Placid NY, Tim Lukaszewicz (Anita) of Merritt Island FL, Michael Lukaszewicz (Kim) of Kingsbury NY, Kelly Smith (Steve) of Odessa Fl, Kathy Prossick (Mark) of Odessa Fl, and Bridget Allister (Bill) of Mill Creek WA, her nephews Jeff Lukaszewicz, Robert Lukaszewicz, Justin Lukaszewicz, Matthew Lukaszewicz, and Royce Allister, her nieces Ashley Prossick, Brittany (Smith) Elliott,  Brenda Smith, and Megan Allister.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park, in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Burgoyne Avenue in the town of Fort Edward.

Maureen’s family would like to thank Glens Falls hospital staff and Home Health Aides for their care of Maureen.

Gail Marie (Young) Camfield

CamfieldGLENS FALLS & WHITEHALL – Gail Marie (Young) Camfield, 63, of Glens Falls, went into the arms of the Lord, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the Glens Falls Hospital, after a long illness.

Born on May 29, 1951 in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosemary (Constance) Young.

Gail graduated from Whitehall High School and attended Mary McClellen Nursing School in Troy.   For 30 years, Gail was a nurse at Glens Falls Hospital 

On June 29, 1981, she married Richard Camfield in Glens Falls. They have been married for 33 wonderful years.    Gail loved spending time and taking care of her husband and family.  

She also was a beautiful seamstress, a great baker and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Samuel Young, Michael Young and James Young.

Survivors include her loving husband, Richard Camfield of Glens Falls; her daughter, Heather Harrington and her husband, Scott of Glens Falls; her grandchildren, Brett Harrington and Tess Harrington; a sister, Connie Crosier of Whitehall; a brother, Tim Young and his wife, Cathy of PA; two sisters in law, Maureen Young of Whitehall, Carol Young, also of Whitehall and Katherine Rielly and her husband, Mike of NJ; a brother in law, Peter Camfield and his wife, Ellen of Rochester; her cousins, Sarah Basta, Joe Sulllivan, Jerry Sullivan and John “Jack” Sullivan; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at St. Michael’s Church in South Glens Falls, with Rev. Tony Childs, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street in the City of Glens Falls.

Erika U. Morgan

MorganHUDSON FALLS – Erika U. Morgan, 77, passed away peacefully on, November 19, 2014, in the loving arms of her family.

Erika was born May 28,1937 in Ohlau, Germany. She was the daughter of Anna Handrischik and Paul Schudy.

Erika was married for thirty years to Richard D. Morgan (Locksmith). Together they had 8 children. Erika came to America in 1963 with three small children and pregnant for the fourth. Shortly after her arrival our father left for Vietnam. Alone in America, she taught herself English through watching the Mickey Mouse Club. Our mother picked apples as a field worker in her early years to provide for her family while our father served our country. Her wish for a son was granted by a pair of twin boys following 5 girls. At that time 4 or 5 other sets of twins were born within days of each other. Those mothers all got together and formed the Tri County Mother of Twins Club to which our mother was a founding member. Last was the birth of her third son of which our mother referred to as her “encore performance”.

Our mother spent most of her life, as she put it, “married to the phone” as she ran our father’s locksmith business. She somehow found the time to coach our softball team “Morgan’s Angel’s”, run a paper route with us, den mother for the boy’s Cub Scouts, transport the twins to violin & cello lessons, and travel with 8 children all over the state for track and field competitions. Our mother took great pride that the 8 of us were so well behaved she could take us anywhere.

Our mother was also a great neighborhood mother. She mentored many children. She gave money for good report cards, lost teeth, and haircuts regardless of who you belonged to. She was known to play a hot summer night of hide and seek with the neighborhood, or an illegal pool hopping, cabbage night egging , or fireworks in the driveway. She was known to use our father’s credit card to buy a washer or dryer for a less fortunate neighbor. She maintained the elderly neighbor’s sidewalks and driveways for over 40 years. Right up until her 70’s she mowed lawns, shoveled snow, and split firewood with an axe.

She believed in honesty above all else. Pride, respect, and hard work was instilled in all of us. She made our lives fun. We would draw chores out of hat hoping we would be the one to draw the “free pass”. She bought tickets to every play, rock show, kung foo fight, or acrobatic display the 8 of us kids would perform on a rainy days. She assisted in building the carnival booths for the neighborhood fair, fixed bikes for neighborhood kids who did not have one, and put together “care packages” of food for the neighbors who struggled to feed their children. Our mother touched many lives and she will live on through the 8 of us and our memories of the wonderful times we shared with her.

In addition to her parents, Erika was predeceased by her husband Richard D. Morgan and daughter Ursula E. Morgan. Two brothers Manfred Schudy, Erwin Schudy and a sister Sr. M. Pelagia Edletraud Schudy.

Erika is survived by her 7 remaining children, Daniel and Linda (Morgan) Tallman, Scott and Meiki (Morgan) Case, Jesse Fish and Ingrid Morgan, Randy and Heidi (Morgan) Mechanick, Robert and Carrianne Morgan, Norbert Morgan, Paul and Caitlin Morgan. Loving grandchildren and great grandchildren Daniel and Samantha Tallman, Erik Tallman, Everett Voorhis and Laura Sexton, Emily Morgan, Phillip and Casey Mechanick, Alex, Lilly, and Natalie Mechanick, Katie Mechanick and Owen Hermey, Paul Mechanick and Rylee Williams, Kristian Mechanick, Jacob Durkin, Megan Durkin, and Hudson Morgan.

Calling hours will be held at Carleton Funeral Home from 1 pm to 3pm on Sunday November 23, 2014.

A celebration of Erika’s life will be held at the American Legion on Pearl Street in Hudson Falls at 4pm following her calling hours.

Anthony Joseph Trello , Sr.

HUDSON FALLS – Anthony Joseph Trello , Sr.SONY DSC, 80,  of Hudson Falls passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born January 10, 1934, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Guy and Mary (Campagnone) Trello.

He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School in Hudson Falls and graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1951, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track.  He was voted All-Conference First by area coaches, The Post Star, and area player opponents.  He met his life long loving wife, Jean, from St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls in 1949.  Tony attended the now Suny Cortland in 1952 where he played football and varsity wrestling. In 1953, Tony joined his father and mother in their family businesses, Trello’s Market and Trello’s Apartments.  The market was open in Hudson Falls for 87 years and the apartment business is still open.

In February 1953 he married the love of his life, and high school sweetheart, Jean M. DelSignore Trello.  They brought up three wonderful children, Cynthia, Anthony Jr., and Terri Lee.  They had eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  He always felt that God blessed them all.  Tony loved salesmanship and was a licensed stockbroker and life insurance and real estate associate.

In 1962 Tony coach little league football in South Glens Falls, they finished second in their league.  Also in 1962, Tony partnered with his boyhood friend, Mike Simione, to restart after a 10 year lapse and incorporate the Hudson Falls Greenjackets, where he owned, played, and then coached.  They brought great games to Hudson Falls and had great winning records.  Tony and his wife loved to travel especially to Italy, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and to New York City Broadway plays.  He also enjoyed attending Yankees games and Giants games.  The Green Bay Packers were his favorite team.  Tony loved boating and water skiing on Lake George, where he and his wife have a summer home on Assembly Point.  He also loved snow skiing in Vermont.  In 1998, the Hudson Falls Greenjacket football team inducted him into the their hall of fame and in 2007, was nationally inducted into the Minor League Football Hall of Fame at Mesquite, Nevada in the Played Coach category.

Beside his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Guy, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 60 years, Jean Trello of Hudson Falls; his children, Cynthia Trello Chard and her companion, John Brown, Anthony J. Trello Jr. and his wife, Tammy, Terri Lee Trello Flewelling and her fiancée, James Lemery; his 8 grandchildren, Jesica and her husband, Travis Turner, Tom Chard II, Jasmine Krusko , Todd Chard, Anthony M. Trello, Elicia Trello, Desirae Flewelling, Nathan Flewelling; his great grandchildren, Tyler and Paul Krusko, Emily Turner, Anthony J. Trello III and Brayden Flewelling.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Tony’s family suggests that memorial donations in his memory be made to the Charles R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Raymond “Ray” Charles Wright

WrightQUEENSBURY – Raymond “Ray” Charles Wright, 76, of Queensbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2014, with his family by his side.

Born on April 27, 1938, in Hartford, he was the son of the late John W. and Pearl M. Wright.

Ray was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the United States Air Force Army Reserve & National Guard of New York and Connecticut. 

He worked at the Glens Falls Hospital as a security guard, Potter Ambulance Service  and Doty Machine Works before retiring from Kline’s Mobil in Queensbury.

At one time, he served as a member of the Fort Edward Rescue Squad.

Ray enjoyed going for rides, looking for deer and wildlife.  He enjoyed watching golf, hunting shows, murder mysteries and old westerns.   Ray liked playing bowling on the Wii and all kinds of computer games.

He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was always making people laugh.   Ray enjoyed family gatherings and talking about the adventures of his younger days.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Louis and Matilda Phillips, his paternal grandparents, Elwin and Cora Wright, his daughters, Tammy Wright and Barbara “Barbie” Truesdale, his sisters, Beatrice Gosslin, Marie Weatherwax and Delia Ballentine and his brothers, Robert Wright, Walter Wright and William Wright.

Ray is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Wright; his children, Shari Pullen and her husband, Mike of Texas, John Wright and his wife, Sandy of Florida, Peter Truesdale of Glens Falls and Dan Truesdale and his wife, Terri of Glens Falls; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; his sisters, Margaret Hunt of South Glens Falls and Mary G. Carr and her husband, George of Bacon Hill; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, from5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Services will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m. Monday Nov. 24, 2014, at the funeral home, with military honors presented by the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574.

Burial will be at Brant Lake Cemetery at a later date.

Ray’s family suggests that donations in Ray’s memory be given to his wife, Brenda  in the form of donations to Glens Falls national Bank, 221 Corinth RD., Queensbury, NY 12804, to help with funeral expenses.

Carol M. Maille

Maille young maille oldHUDSON FALLS – Carol M.  Maille, 91, of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully, with her daughter by her side, on November 14, 2014 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on June 2, 1923 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and May Knowlton.

Carol was a 1941 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and married Thomas Maille on December 2, 1945 at St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  He passed away in 2005.

In 1944, she enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served her country stateside, while her fiancé, Thomas, an Army veteran, was fighting for his country in Europe and North Africa.  Following her discharge, Carol came back home and started their family.   After her military service, she became a proud member of the Hudson Falls American Legion, Post 574.

Family was the center of her life.  Carol loved being home and taking care of her husband and family.   She enjoyed watching and hearing about her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren living their lives.  Carol was a strong woman who lived by the motto, “God only gives what you can handle.”  She also had a wonderful sense of humor which was shared with her family and friends.    Carol was an avid reader, wonderful cook and loved doing crossword puzzles.

She was a devout Catholic.  Carol was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and a member of St. Anne’s Sodality.      When she was not able to attend Mass, she watched Sunday Morning Mass on TV.

Besides her parents and husband, Carol was predeceased by her sisters, an infant sister, Ila May, Frances Hafner, Clarice Bennett and Angenette Knowlton; her brother, George Knowlton; and her daughter in law, Pam Maille.

Survivors include her children, Thomas H. Maille, Jr. and his wife, Rita of Omaha, NE, Paul Maille of Shushan, Mary Remsen and her husband, Thomas of Hudson Falls and Debra Rourke and her husband, William of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Carolyn Petersen and her husband, Todd, Kimberly Remsen, T.R. Remsen and Alison Maille; two great grandchildren, Noah Petersen and Olivia Petersen; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury, with full military honors provided by the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574.

Margaret “Maggie” Lamere Maynard

 MaynardHUDSON FALLS – Margaret “Maggie” Lamere Maynard, 93, of Hudson Falls, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility.

Born on February 24, 1921 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Lucy (Parker) Lamere.

Maggie attended St. Mary’s School and Hudson Falls High School.  She was a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls and was a lifetime communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church.

Maggie loved country music.   She was an active promoter of local country music, having been an officer in many local fan clubs and also organizing many benefits.   She was a loyal member of the Dick Ladd Square Dance Association.  Maggie also enjoyed bowling in her earlier years.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her two husbands, Douglas Bombard and Edgar Maynard; her daughters and sons in law, Evelyn and Sebastian Pagano and Dawn and Renald Tessier; her great granddaughter, Heather Smith; her brother, W. Kenneth Lamere and her sister, Evelyn Brown.

Survivors include her stepson, Edward Maynard and his wife, Lorraine; her grandchildren, Melissa Gifford and her significant other, Charles Randall, Renee and Andy Smith, Robin and Paul Waytkus, Raymond and Lani Tessier, Ronald and Cathy Tessier, James Pagano, Peter Pagano, Edward Maynard, Wendy and Susan Maynard and Alice and Rick Whitmore; 15 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 15, 2014, from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, following the calling hours at the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s officiating.

Irene Peggy Bapp

Bapp, IreneQUEENSBURY – Irene Peggy Bapp, 75, of Queensbury, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born December 6, 1938, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Irene (Lemery) O’Leary.

On September 7, 1956, Irene married Donald H. Bapp at West Glens Falls Chapel.  Donald passed away April 6, 2014, after 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Peggy and Don lived on Sunnyside Road, in Queensbury for 54 years and wintered in Fort Pierce, FL for 12 years.  They enjoyed attending many blue grass festivals and loved country music.   Peggy’s all time favorite thing was spending time with her sons, grandchildren and family.   Her family was the center of her world.

Besides his parents and loving husband, Peggy was predeceased by her brothers, Richard O’Leary, Jack O’Leary, Dennis O’Leary, James O’Leary; her sister, Jean Gwinup and her granddaughter, Nicole Bapp.

Survivors include her seven sons, Thomas and his wife, Rissa of Gansevoort, Tymothy and his wife, Robin of Queensbury, Theodore and his wife, Cindy of Hudson Falls, Todd and his wife, Tina of Queensbury, Terry and his wife, Sandi of Argyle, Troy and his wife, Tammie of Queensbury, Tyrone and his wife, Tamara of Queensbury; her 17 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; her brother, Thomas O’Leary of Glens Falls; her sister, MaryAnn Warfel of MD.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 16, 2014, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The Funeral Service and her burial at St. Paul’s Cemetery will be private.

CenterGLENS FALLS – Eva Loretta Center, 66, of Cronin High Rise, originally of Hyde Park, passed away, Monday, November 10, 2014 and went to a higher path of her journey.

Born on August 31, 1948 in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Annie (Greene) Holt.   

Her most beloved times were those spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters and friends.   Her Christmas times held many of her favorite memories, as well as her trips to Florida and South Carolina. 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved brother, Kenneth, who went before her on August 1, 2003.

Eva married John “Buck” Center on November 5, 1967 in Glens Falls.  He passed away on January 25, 2012.

Survivors include her children, JoAnna Nolin and her husband, Ralph of Queensbury, Thomas Center and his partner, Marie of Shokan and John M. Center and his partner, Stephanie of Red Hook; her grandchildren, Patricia Ann Sucato, Michael Center, Beth Ann Robbins, Brandan Alden, Alicia Center, Thomas Center, Jr., Jessica Center, Samantha Philo, Ashley Center, Paige Tyler and MacKenzie Center; her great grandchildren, Alexander Warrington, Bryan Philo, III, Jacob Alden, Olivia Faxon, Mason Tyler, Luke Gordon, Parker Philo, Reina, Kaylynn Warrington, Isabella Center, Abigale Blake and Hunter Gordon; her sisters, Evelyn Sheerer and her partner, Mark of Queensbury, Catherine Leatherwood and her husband, Cooper of Wappinger Falls and Annie Laurie Austin and her husband, Chris of Florida; her nieces and nephews, Ronald and Mark Sheerer and their families, Cooper Miles Leatherwood and  Savannah and Zachary Holt; several loving cousins, especially Lida and Joanna Traver; her aunt, Lorraine Gisiano; her extended family, Pam and Ron Dionne, Clarence Woodin and the Way and Woodin families.

Friends may call on Friday from 10 to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.  at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Service will follow the calling hours on Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at a later date at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

FORT EDWARD – John “Jack” HealyHealy, 78, a longtime resident of Hudson Falls and Stony Creek passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Fort Hudson Nursing Center with his family by his side.

Born on February 23, 1936 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Daniel T. and Liona T. (Barney) Healy.

Jack graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Glens Falls and continued his education at Boston College Carroll School of Management, receiving a BS in Finance.

He was very proud to have served in the United States Marines Corps and was discharged in 1964.   After leaving the service,  Jack began his career in finance.   For many years he was employed as a comptroller at Union Camp and Scott Paper Company.

On February 12, 1966, he married Ann J. Casey at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.  They spent 48 wonderful years together.    Jack and Ann lived in Hudson Falls where they raised their three children.    Jack and his family were communicants of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.   Following their retirement, they lived in Fort Pierce, FL during the winters and at their camp on Harrisburg Lake in Stony Creek during the summers.   He loved spending time with his family at the camp.  Jack thought the world of his children and grandchildren.   He was an avid movie fan, most passionate about westerns.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Daniel T. Healy Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ann (Casey) Healy; their three children, Timothy Healy, of Houston, TX; Michael Healy and his wife, Melissa, of Glens Falls; Sheila Brazie and her husband, Scott, of Ballston Lake;  five grandchildren, Ryan and Matthew Healy and Jack, Charlotte and Luke Brazie; his brother, Tom Healy, of Glens Falls; his sister, Shelia McLean, of Ada, MI; his sister-in-law, Liz Healy of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In honoring Jack’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Jack’s family wishes to thank his nurses and aides at Fort Hudson Nursing Center for taking such good care of him.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family.

David F. Smith

SmithHUDSON FALLS – David F. Smith, Sr., 76, of Hudson Falls, went to be with his beloved wife, Joyce, on Saturday, November 8, 2014.

Born on January 2, 1938 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Jesse D. and Mildred (Lorimer) Smith.

David graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1956.  He was most proud of his membership on the 1955 undefeated Glens Falls football team.  The team became the first high school team to be inducted into the Glens Falls Athletic Hall of Fame.

Following graduation, David enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country in Korea.  While in the service, he worked in the Army Corp of Engineers as a heavy equipment operator.

After his discharge from the Army, David married his high school sweetheart, Joyce, on June 27, 1959.  She passed away on October 30, 2010, after 51 wonderful years of marriage.

David then began his career at the Glens Falls Insurance Company and retired from A.W. Lawrence Insurance Group.  He was in the insurance business for over 35 years.

David loved camping with family and friends in the Adirondacks.  He was proud of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

Survivors include his children, David F. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Queensbury, Chris Smith and his “second” daughter, Natasha Corcoran of South Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Leanne (Smith) Clark and her fiancé, Kyle Flanco of Watervliet, Sean Smith and his companion, Jess of Queensbury and Michael Smith and his fiancé, Katrina Briggs of Queensbury; his brother in law, Clyde E. Smith of Queensbury; and two nieces, and a nephew.

In keeping with David’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

A private burial will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

David’s family wishes to thank his nurses and aides at West Mt. Health Care Facility for taking such good care of him.  They would also like to thank his close high school friends for all the support given to David throughout his life.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
