Sandra E. Waters

Waters, SandraGLENS FALLS – Sandra E. Waters, 74, of Ridge Street, passed away peacefully, with her husband, David at her side, on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at her home.

Born on November 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Florence (Simpson) Hall.

On December 5, 1959, she married David Waters at the Granville United Methodist Church.  Sandra and David remain members of the Granville United Methodist Church to this day.

Sandra worked for many years at Boston Scientific in Glens Falls.  Following her retirement, her husband and her sold their home and bought a camper to travel the east coast.   Sandra’s intention was to visit their children and to take as many picture of lighthouses as they could find.  They spent wonderful times with their children and got pictures of many water towers.   She enjoyed collecting Precious Moments and lighthouses, assembling puzzles with her husband and reading.   Sandra also loved spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored. 

Sandra was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Waters Hettie, her brother, Carl Hall and her sisters, Linda Hall and Barbara Baldwin.

She is survived by her loving husband, of 56 years, David Waters of Glens Falls; her daughters, Susan Underwood and her husband, Ralph of Schaghticoke and Florida and Denise McKinney and her companion, Stan Peculis of Fort Edward; her sons, David Waters, Jr. and his wife, Emelia of Lake Luzerne, Jeffery Waters of Port Richey, Florida, Richard Waters and his wife, Kelly of South Carolina, Alden Waters and his wife, Erin of Harrisville and James Waters of Fort Edward; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; her brother, Ray Hall of Granville; her sisters, Patricia Purdy and her husband, Robert of Queensbury and a special sister, Eileen Purdy of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Following the funeral service, everyone is welcome to a gathering at the Cronin High Rise Community Room, 43 Ridge Street, Glens Falls.

Graveside services will be at North Granville Cemetery in the town of North Granville at a later date.

Arthur E. Waters

Waters2Waters3HUDSON FALLS – Arthur E. Waters, 72, of Brook Road, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.

Born on November 4, 1942, in Green Island, NY, he was the son of the late Edward and Lorraine (VanNess) Waters.

After high school, Art served with the US Marine Corps as a member of the landing team, whose purpose was to make Marines ready for action and to provide good will to the people on the islands, they protected.  He was honorably discharged on March of 1964 as a Corporal.

In 1963, he married Charlene LaMere at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls.

He retired from Norlite in Cohoes.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  Art also was a founding member of Hudson Falls Girls Softball, serving as board member for many years.  He coached Tri-County Middle League Softball League, Hudson Falls Little League and assisted his daughter, Kim as Varsity Softball coach.  Art worked for the Hudson Falls recreation program.  When the Hudson Falls Sports budget failed, he organized a softball tournament to raise funds for the Hudson Falls athletes.  He was an avid softball player and was known as the “The Arc of Derby Park”.  He also umpired softball at Jenkinsville Field and Derby Park. He enjoyed playing broom ball on Glen Lake as well as ice hockey at Derby Park.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers in law, Ovid LaMere and Cletus LaMere and his sisters in law, Eunice Clark and Elva Daniels.

He is survived by his sweetheart since the age of 15, Charlene (LaMere) Waters of Hudson Falls; his two daughters, Kelly Leclaire and her significant other, Jeff Dunn of Hudson Falls and Kimberley Waters-White and her husband, Anthony of Hudson Falls; four grandchildren, Kieran Waters White, Korey Anthony White, Kerry Patrick White and Hayley Pamela Leclaire; one brother, John “Jack” Waters of Hudson Falls; his sister, Kathleen Paige and her husband, James of Fort Ann; his sister in law, Sandra Backus and her husband Robert of Gansevoort and his brothers in law, Russell LaMere and his wife, Keeta of Queensbury,  Keith LaMere and his wife, Michele of Florida, Chuck Clark of Gansevoort; his sister in law Donna LaMere of Queensbury. He is also survived by a nephew, whom he and Charlene raised from the age of 12,  Bret LaMere; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, February 6, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9 a.m. on Saturday, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

Pall Bearers will be Matt Backus, Mike Backus, Nate Mattison, Rolland Schenk, Roger Ovitt and Kurt Schaffer.

Instead of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to a charity for the elderly.
