Mecleta Elizabeth (Dunning) Waite

WaiteKINGSBURY – Mecleta Elizabeth (Dunning) Waite, 82, of Waite Road, died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born May 20, 1932, in Lake George the daughter of  the late John and Olia Mae (Feathers) Dunning.

She was a 1950 graduate of the Lake George High School and on July 1, 1950 she married Robert L. Waite. Bob died August 12, 1990. Three sons, Michael Edward, Peter David and Jamie Bruce  Waite also died before her.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Salisbury and her husband Edward of Kingsbury; two sons,  Daniel Waite of Kingsbury and Gordon Waite of Cornville, Arz.; her grandchildren, Lisa Smalley and her husband, Doug, Rhonda Rosick and her husband, Dale, Elizabeth Waite, Nicholas Waite and his wife Michelle and Steven Waite and his companion Ashlee; her great-grandchildren, Devon Rosick, Richard Rosick and Jack Smalley; her brother in law James  DeLarm of Hague; her sister Marcia Meyers and her husband Dean of Granville; several  nieces and nephews a daughter in law, Donna Waite of Kingsbury; and her special friend, Cemo Vaughn of Kingsbury.

Friends may call   from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

The Fort Edward Rescue Squad will pay respects at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Company will pay their respects at the funeral home at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. 

Funeral services will be conducted   at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m.

Mecleta’s family suggests that memorials take the form of donations to the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Company, Burgoyne Ave., Hudson Falls, NY 12839 or to the Washington County SPCA, P.O. Box 171, Hudson Falls, NY 12839

HUDSON FALLS – George M. Waite, 87, a long time resident of Ferry Street, passed away peacefully, in the hands of the Lord, on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Facility.

Born on June 12, 1925 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Duane and Rose (Rustin) Waite.

George grew up in Glens Falls and was educated at Broad Street School.  He then joined the US Navy and served in Guam, during World War II.  While serving his country, he received the Navy Cross.    While in the service, George married Helen F. Girard in 1943.   She passed away in 1971.

After returning home, he began working at Borden Dairy, where he stayed for over 25 years.  George also was employed at Mills Recreation as a mechanic.  For over 29 years, he repaired AMF pin spotters at Pine Lanes in South Glens Falls, now known as Spare Time.

George was known as the general manager of Stewarts, where on most days, he was seen drinking coffee and greeting customers.  Throughout his life, he was a very hard worker and most of his life, George had two jobs, to support his family.   After his retirement, George loved traveling across this beautiful country.  He was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed trips to the ocean.  George never missed watching his grandchildren playing softball or bowl.  The center of his life was his family.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by daughter, Georganna Waite, his brothers, Lawrence Waite and Clifford Waite and his sisters, Helen Waite and Dorothy Shaver.

Survivors include his loving children, Duane Waite and his wife, Joyce of Hudson Falls, Christopher Waite and his wife, Susan of Boston, Cathy Norton and her husband, Richard of Queensbury and Florence Smith and her husband, George of Cossayuna ; eleven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren; his brother, Lester Waite of Argyle; his sisters, Julia Sweet of Queensbury and Christina Lewis of South Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no services.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Inc., P.O. Box 226, Fort Edward, NY 12839.
