Harold “Stretch” Stiles

HUDSON FALLS – Harold “Stretch” Stiles 74, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on November 3, 2018.

Born on April 26, 1944 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Ralph “Junior” and Freida (Ackley) Stiles of Fort Ann.

Harold graduated from Fort Ann Central School in 1962.  After graduation, he worked at Sawyer Lumber and Griffin’s Lumber before landing a job at Fort Edward Express, where he retired after 30 years.  Harold enjoyed working at Fort Edward Express where he became close with the Hillman brothers and many other lifelong friends.

Harold married the love of his life, Linda Ranney on June 29, 1968.  They were married 50 wonderful years.   Harold and Linda moved to Hudson Falls, where they set down roots and raised their daughter, Stacy.

In his younger years, Harold was a member of the Fort Ann Volunteer Fire Company, where he enjoyed working Bingo.  He also enjoyed mowing the lawn and taking rides all over the countryside.   Harold loved being outdoors, where he could go hunting and ice fishing.  He was a staple at Cumberland Farms, where he stopped several times a day to have coffee and visit.

The center of his life was his family.  He enjoyed telling them stories about his younger years. Harold thought the sun rose and set with his wife, Linda, his grandchildren, Tessa and William and his daughter and son in law, Stacy and Bill.  He cherished his family above all else.   His happiest moments were spent with them.

Besides his parents, Harold was predeceased by his father and mother in law, Howard and Grace Ranney and his brother in law, Joseph Brindise.
