Daniel Crandall, Sr.

GLENS FALLS- Daniel Crandall, Sr.  75, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at his home, in Glens Falls, with his family by his side.

Born on August 23, 1943, in Granville, he was the son of Florence (Hurley) Crandall and the late Howard W. Crandall.

Daniel was a 1962 graduate of Argyle High School. Following graduation, he began his working life as a veterinarian assistant at the Adirondack Animal Hospital in Queensbury. He then moved to Hannaford Supermarket, where he worked as a store clerk. Daniel’s last place of employment was at Irving Tissue, where he labored as a janitor.

On September 12, 1964, Daniel married Betty Barker at the Methodist Church in Granville.  They shared over 54 years together, creating many happy memories.

Daniel was an active church member of Pine Knolls Alliance Church and spent a lot of time, together with Betty, serving his spiritual community in a variety of ways.  He also loved hunting, fishing, watching and playing numerous sports. But most of all his family was the center of his life.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Crandall, his sister, Carolyn Wells and his sister-in-law, Patricia Collins.

Survivors include his mother, Florence Crandall of Granville, his wife, Betty of Glens Falls, his two sons, Daniel Crandall Jr. and his wife, Connie of South Glens Falls, Raymond Crandall and his wife, Lisa of Hudson Falls; his three sisters, Joan Brown and her husband, Norman of South Glens Falls, Joyce Wilcox and her husband, Wayne of Adamsville, Eleanor Johnson and her husband, Richard of Adirondack; his brother-in-law Robert Gillman of Glens Falls; his sisters-in-law, Lorraine Tisinger of Virginia, and Lois Flewelling of South Glens Falls; his three grandchildren, Courtney (Crandall) Duckett and her husband, Bryant, Katrina (Crandall) Weaver and her husband, Ben and Derrick Crandall; his two great grandchildren, Brayden Crandall and Austin Duckett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Rd, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.

Memorial services will be conducted on Wednesday, at 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will be at the Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made in Daniel’s name to either the Pine Knolls Alliance Church, 614 Gansevoort Road, South Glens Falls, NY 12803 or to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12839.
