E. Carol Porter

FORT ANN – E. Carol Porter, 75, of Buttermilk Falls Road, went to be with her husband, on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 18, 1943 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Christopher and Jeannette (Crete) Holmes.

Carol was a graduate of Queensbury High School.  For 20 years, She worked at General Electric in Fort Edward, retiring in 1984. GE always had a special place in her heart, because that is where she met her future husband, Donald.  They were married on March 25, 1972 at the Harrisena Community Church in Queensbury.

Along with her husband, Carol was a member of the West Fort Ann Methodist Church.

Carol loved spending time, at her home, with her granddaughter, Wendy (Dan) Hurlburt and her great grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia and Savanna.  She enjoyed helping them with their homework, exploring with them on their I Pads and playing jokes on each other. Her life centered around them and she cherished every moment, whether it was just sitting and talking or watching the birds and the squirrels.

Despite her limitations, Carol never felt sorry for herself.  She always had a happy, positive attitude, which carried her throughout her life and because of that, she was so well respected by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Porter, her daughter, Robin Porter, her sisters, Lucille Munger,Jean Holmes and Cindy Losgar.

Survivors include her children, David Porter of Corinth and Kim Rathbun and her husband, Michael of Fort Ann; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Mema”; her two brothers, Donald Holmes of Fort Ann and Roy Walkup of South Glens Falls; her sisters, June Fish and her husband, Kenneth of Fort Edward, Gail Peer-Rogers and her husband, Mark of Fort Ann and Christine Wilkinson of Corinth;and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, May 24th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be at a later date at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Stillwater, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2 Pine West Plaza, Albany, NY  12205.
