Stanley E. Sunderland

SunderlandFORT EDWARD – Stanley E. Sunderland, 65, of Fort Edward, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 24, 1949, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of Dorothy (Dominy) Sunderland and the late Dwight Sunderland.

Stanley was a US Army veteran, serving in Germany.

On May 15, 1971, he married Margaret Wall, at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

After 43 years of service, he retired from SCA Paper in Fort Edward.

Stanley loved camping, fishing and being with family.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Margaret Sunderland of Fort Edward; his daughters, Michelle Realejo and her partner Paulo Matias of New Bedford, MA and Heather La Marque of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren, Eric Sunderland, Gavin Realejo and Owen La Marque; his sisters, Karen Sunderland of Nevada, Linda Sunderland of Saratoga Springs and Kim Anderson of Saratoga Springs; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his son in law, Tom La Marque of Fort Edward.

Friends may call on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.

Burial with military honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Stanley’s family suggests memorial donations be made to a veteran’s charity of your choice.
