SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Richard (Rick) Carlton Granger, 75, of South Glens Falls, passed away at his home Thursday afternoon, December 8, 2016, after a short illness, with his wife, Netina, by his side.

Born on January 22, 1941, in St. Albans, Vermont, he was the son of the late Carlton and Nora (LaDue) Granger.

Richard and Netina were married on July 1, 2000, during a picnic service.

Richard worked at Native Textiles for many years as a truck driver.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, church friends, and telling stories. He enjoyed helping others, especially if it involved fixing or remodeling. Tinkering in the garage brought him great happiness. Rick enjoyed researching genealogy, enabling him to trace his first descendant from England. He was known to drive hours throughout New York to gather information to add it to his growing genealogy records. These extensive records will become a treasure to his family.

Richard is survived by his wife of 16 years, Netina; his son, Matthew Granger and his wife, Marcy Hokama-Granger, and their son, Niko, all of Brooklyn. His is also survived by Netina’s children: Barbara Potvin and her daughter Julia of South Glens Falls, Kevin Varmette and his wife, Tammy of Gansevoort, and Kenneth and his wife, Windy Varmette, and their children, Damien, Aaron, Eli and Olivia of Lansing, Michigan.

Friends and Family are invited to call on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home on Main Street, in Hudson Falls. Immediately following calling hours, a service will take place at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor James Swanson of Turning Point Wesylan Church in Fort Miller, NY.

Burial will take place at Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made out to Turning Point Weslyan Church, 1063 US-4, Fort Edward, NY 12828.
