QUEENSBURY- David R. Greene, 69, of Queensbury, formerly of North Creek, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Glens Falls Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born August 4, 1951 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Rollin and Marie (AuClaire) Greene and father of his late infant son, Daniel, and his wife, Nancy Greene.
David graduated in 1970 from Johnsburg Central School and attended two years of college. He retired from Curtis Lumber in Warrensburg as laborer but worked for many years in the lumber business as a grader.
David was a 25-year member of the Pottersville Volunteer Fire Department and a 25-year level 3 critical care tech. for North Warren EMS. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Cortina Greene and her boyfriend, John and Cortina’s son, Odin; his daughter, Ashley Barber and her husband, Joseph; his son, Geoffrey Greene and his fiancé, Brenda, and Geoffrey’s daughter, Reagan. Also, he is survived by his ex-wife, Hazel Greene; his aunts, Dorothy Jurgens and Esther AuClaire; his brother, Ron and sister in law, Barbara; a niece, Kelly St Jean; a nephew, Michael Greene; and David’s faithful companion, his Yorkie, Sara.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the King, 685 Bay Rd., in Queensbury, Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 1 p.m.
Inurnment will take place in the spring, at Pottersville Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his son, Daniel.

QUEENSBURY – Norma Ann (Hart) Potvin, 86, formerly of Hudson Falls, passed away peacefully at home on Friday February 5, 2021 surrounded by her adoring family.

Norma was born in Hudson Falls on December 10, 1934 to Joseph and Eunice (Granger) Hart. Although Norma was an only child, she grew up surrounded by dozens of first cousins who were more like siblings to her. She began her education at St. Mary’s grade school in Hudson Falls and later graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, class of 1951. She was active in many clubs during high school and was voted junior prom queen. After graduation, Norma attended The College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ and earned a bachelor’s degree in English. Following graduation, she taught English at Fort Edward High School.

While in high school, Norma met a handsome young man named Mitchell (Lee) Potvin, Jr. who would become the love of her life. Norma and Lee were united in marriage on August 24, 1957 by Monsignor Kiffin at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hudson Falls.

After living in Buffalo for four years while Lee attended dental school, they moved to Fort Campbell, KY for two years while Lee served in the army. In 1961, they returned to Hudson Falls to settle down and raise their growing family. While raising six children, Norma somehow found time to volunteer for numerous organizations, including the Glens Falls Hospital Guild, the Upper Hudson Dental Wives Association, Big Brothers/Sisters, and the Hyde Museum. Norma also served on the Hudson Falls School District Board of Education for 20 years, 11 of those years as Board President. Norma and Lee were also active members of The Glens Falls County Club for many
years. Norma’s Catholic faith was incredibly strong, and she was very active in the parish of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s where she was a lifelong member and one of the first babies baptized in the new church. She served as Lector and Eucharistic minister, was a member of the RCIA catechist team, taught religious education, served as a member of the bereavement committee, Ella’s Cupboard and Martha’s hostess committee. Norma also distributed Holy Communion to patients at Glens Falls Hospital. Together with her husband, Norma volunteered at St. Joseph’s House of Grace to watch over and assist the residents in their final days of life and more recently they delivered meals for Meals on Wheels. In 2011, Norma and Lee were recognized as Citizens of the Year by the Hudson Falls Rotary Club.

In the little free time Norma had, she enjoyed reading and completing the daily crossword puzzle and cryptoquotes with ease. She was a voracious reader and routinely devoured 5-7 books a week. Thanks to her Irish roots, Norma was blessed with the “gift of gab” and enjoyed numerous close friendships. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, antique shopping, dancing and most recently spending time with her knitting group. However, none of these hobbies compared to the joy and pleasure she derived from spending time with her family and attending her children’s and then grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, inductions, etc. Her large family was the world to Norma, and she would drop everything to spend time with each and every one of them. She loved them fiercely and unconditionally, and God help anyone who crossed them!

Norma was predeceased by her parents, a brother-in-law, Joseph Potvin, and many cousins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband of 63 years,
Dr. Mitchell Lee Potvin, Jr.; her six children, Amy (Scott) Spencer, Dr. Mitchell Lee Potvin, III (Charlotte), Stacy Potvin (Sharon), Dr. Joseph Potvin (Carolyn), Cheryl (William) Hogan and Renee (Michael) Borgos; her 17 grandchildren who loved and adored her, Jordan (Jennifer), Maura, Cullen (Melissa), Evan (Amanda), Leah (Joe) and Tessa Spencer, Connor Potvin,Thomas, Benjamin, Daniel and Eliza Hogan, Nora, Luke and Heath Borgos, Joseph, Magdelene and Stephen Potvin; as well four great-
grandchildren, Lyla, Finley, Carter and Declan. Norma is also survived by her brother-in-law, William (Lyn) Potvin and her sisters-in-law Anne Marie (Bill) Mather and Patricia Potvin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Norma’s family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Gaiotti-Grubbs, her nurses and all of the wonderful staff at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center for the care and compassion they gave our mother over the past few years. Her family is also eternally grateful to High Peaks Hospice for their support in Norma’s final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Avenue, South Glens Falls, NY.

Friends may visit with the family at the church prior to mass from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Frances Anne Kelleher Gallup, known as Anne to her friends and family, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on February 1, 2021 at the Home of the Good Shepherd in South Glens Falls, New York. She was beloved by her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Born August 5, 1932, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late William and Frances (née Bruce) Kelleher. Anne graduated from Fort Edward High School, and later graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. She taught at Fort Ann High School, before becoming a homemaker and mother to her four children. After raising a family, she went back to work as a reading specialist and teaching assistant in the Hudson Falls school system.

While she was growing up in Fort Edward, her family attended St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward, and later, after moving to Queensbury, she joined Our Lady of the Annunciation Roman Catholic Church.

Anne enjoyed music, art, reading, crossword puzzles, and time with her family. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She was gentle, considerate, and a very attentive listener. She will be remembered for her wry, witty sense of humor, quick mind, and impeccable sense of style. Anne traveled the world with her brother William including trips to Ireland and Scotland, special to her because of her family’s heritage. Anne remained physically active, fit, and independent well into her old age. She volunteered for several years as a docent at the Hyde Collection in Glens Falls and the Old Fort House Museum in Fort Edward.

In addition to her parents, Anne was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ellen Nolan (Robert); brother, Rev. William Kelleher; sister, Helen Kelleher Smythe (John); and former husband, Martin G. Gallup.

Left to cherish her memory include her children, Claire Gallup Suminski (Joe) of Franklin, NC; Amy Gallup Kuster (Valentin) of Kingsbury, Martin A. Gallup (Ghislaine) of Clifton Park, and Jane Ellen Gallup of Glens Falls; and grandchildren, Patrick Futch (Gabriella), Michael Futch (Teresa), Annie Suminski, Tessa Kuster Hetherington (Geoffrey), Jamy Beth Suminski Ferraro (Michael), Dana Kuster, Amanda Futch, Jerome Suminski (Katie), Lillian Futch, Molly Suminski, and Annabelle Gallup; she was fortunate to live to see five great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held 11 am on Tuesday, February 9 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Roman Catholic Church, in Queensbury. If attending in person, please wear a mask and follow coronavirus guidelines.

HUDSON FALLS – Mabel I. Clear, long time resident of Hudson Falls and the Town of Kingsbury,  passed away peacefully on February 4, 2021, at the age of 89, at The Home of the Good Shepherd, Saratoga Springs.

Born on January 15, 1932, in Pawlet, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Jessie (Corey) Ballard. It was often said by her family that Mabel was descended from some very tough and strong Vermont stock.

She was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School Class of 1949 and a faithful member of her classmates “49ers” luncheon group that met once a month for years.

Mabel married the love of her life, Richard, and shared a wonderful 48 years of marriage with him until his sudden passing in 1997.  Together they were a true team and raised a family of six children at their home on Route 4, Kingsbury.

For almost 30 years, Mabel worked in the Hudson Falls Central School System.  She began working for the Cafeteria Food Service at Hudson Falls High School and then transferred to Dix Avenue Elementary to become the School Secretary for the last 20 years of her career.  She knew all the students who attended Dix Avenue and would greet them by name even years after her retirement in 1992.

Mabel enjoyed walking her favorite route in Hudson Falls with Richard, sewing, doing needlepoint projects, putting together puzzles, reading and playing cards.  She especially enjoyed the garden that she and Richard planted every year. She would preserve the tasty produce that Richard always joked that he grew with “his own hands” and  many years a hundred quarts of tomatoes would be canned and promptly consumed by the next spring. Their shared love of gardening culminated in a 10 year commercial greenhouse project called Mabrich Farms, which each year produced thousands of pounds of hydroponic tomatoes for local supermarkets.

What Mabel loved the most was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mabel and Richard attended  almost every sporting activity that their grandchildren participated in and they enjoyed every minute.

In addition to caring for her active family, Mabel also found the time and energy to be a Republican Committee member which was an elected position, a fundraiser organizer for the March of Dimes and a 4H Club co-leader.   

She was predeceased by her son, Joseph, her grandson James Daly, and her sisters, Dorothy Underwood and Norma Whitney.

Mabel is survived by her five daughters; Janet Daly and her husband James, Jean Breski, Judy Centerbar, Joan Ryan, Jeriann Aiken and her husband John, along with her grandchildren; Matthew Centerbar, Michelle Centerbar, Shannon Daly Gorr, Meaghan Daly, Peter Matte, Richard Matte, Amanda Matte Beecher, Christopher Matte, Josh Ryan, Heidi Ryan, Justin Ryan and Jake Ryan; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Patricia John and June Harvey McGrath and brother-in-law, Peter Clear; and many nieces and nephews.

All of Mabel’s family cherished her and are feeling her loss deeply.  She was truly an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was there for her family always. 

In order to assure the safety of all during the pandemic it has been decided by the family that a graveside service will be held during the spring.

The family would like to thank the staffs at The Home of the Good Shepherd residences in Moreau and Saratoga Springs for the loving care  that they provided for their Mother over the last year and a half.

HUDSON FALLS – Christopher Joseph Plummer, 51, of Dennis Ave., went into the arms of the Lord and to be with his father and his brother, on Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Born on June 30, 1969, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Linda M. (Wood) Plummer and the late Albert Thomas Plummer.

In 1988, Christopher graduated from Glens Falls High School and then began working with his father as a plumbing apprentice.  After working for his father and three years at Moore’s Electric, he started his own business of small engine repair.   Christopher loved working with his hands and could fix anything that moved. If a motorcycle, car or any small engine didn’t start, he could bring it to life.

Music played an important part of his life.   Christopher was a self-taught drummer and at one time, beat the drums for his father’s band, “Frankie & The Hubcaps”.  Although music was important, his family took the center stage.  That love of family was only surpassed by the devotion and endearment he had for his daughter, Emma Lynne Plummer.

Christopher was an outdoor man, who enjoyed coon hunting and deer hunting in the Adirondacks.  He was so very proud to have helped build the family hunting camp in Stony Creek, where they all spend wonderful family moments. At the camp, his family fondly remembers him being chased by bears just about every time he visited the outhouse.  Christopher also cherished the time with his mom, dad and brothers, building his parents beautiful home.

Many would remember his wonderful sense of humor.  He was so humorous that one would have to leave the room to let out a great belly laugh and to catch their breath.

Besides his father, Christopher was predeceased by his grandparents, Albert and Mae Plummer and Lorraine and Joseph Wood, and his brother, Brian Plummer.

Survivors include his daughter, whom he adored, Emma Lynne Plummer of Hudson Falls; his ex-wife and mother of his daughter, Jenn Plummer of Hudson Falls; his loving mother, Linda M. Plummer of Hudson Falls; his brothers, Scott Michael Plummer of Hudson Falls, Patrick Angelo Plummer and his wife, Jessie of SC and Nicolas Albert Plummer and his wife Rachel of PA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Due of the COVID pandemic, all services for Christopher will be private.

The exciting moments of pregnancy have turned into such sorrow and heartfelt loss with the death of our beautiful baby girl, Scarlitt Lynn-Hope Nix on January 27th,2021 at 8:33 am.

She leaves behind her loving family who will always love her. Scarlitt is the daughter of Alyssa Garney and Jacob Nix II and his fiancé Victoria Bosford. In addition, she leaves behind siblings being her sister Peyton, stepsister Sara Grace, Brother’s Leland and Lorenzo. Paternal grandparents being Heather Garney, boyfriend Chad and Carl Garney Sr, maternal grandparents Jennifer and Jacob Nix. Aunt’s and uncle’s on mother’s side being older sister Jessica and her fiancé Tory Sr and their son (Tory Jr), Older sister Mercedes and her fiancé Rian Jr and their five kids (Lexis, Zoey, Kaleb, Maddison and Aria), younger brother’s Carl Jr and his girlfriend Cindy and Adam. Uncle’s on father’s side being Jared and Justin. With many other family and friends who already loved Scarlitt.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls New York for their incredible care provided to Scarlitt and the whole family even with the tough situations we had to face. But I would like to say a very big special thank you to the wonderful nurse Jamie, she was a lifesaver in such a tragic time. The family can’t thank everyone enough for all the thoughts and prayers.

It is with heavy hearts that we honor and say our goodbye to our sweet angel. Some people dream of angels, we held one in our arms.

A big thank you to ANA (Angel Names Association) for the help and assistance to make this tragic time a bit easier for myself and family.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Margaret (Wright) Hunt, 94, formerly of the Gansevoort Road, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at the Wesley Health Care Center.

Born on April 10, 1926 in Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Pearl M. (Phillips) Wright.

She married Henry “Hank” Hunt on June 23, 1944 in Greenwich, NY.

Margaret started working at age 16 in the Steven & Thomson Paper Mill in Middle Falls then she worked at the Linen Thread Company in Greenwich. For 10 years, Margaret worked at H & F Binch, Inc. and then 10 years at Valcour, Inc. in Glens Falls. Her latest employment was with Greater Adirondack Home Health Aides.

At one time she was active in the Rebekah Lodge # 73 of Glens Falls and also the Mohican Grange. She was a member of the Funtime Mix League and the Girls Night Out League, both at Pine Lanes in South Glens Falls.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her  son, Michael J. Hunt, her brothers Walter, William, Robert and Raymond Wright, her sisters, Marjorie Betty Wright, Beatrice Gosselin, Marie Weatherwax, Delia Rhodes and Mary “Gert” Carr; her granddaughter, Michell Hart and two son in laws

Survivors include five children, Pearl I. Jarvis of Argyle, Donna Manchester of South Glens Falls, Marjorie B. Dickinson (Zenas) of South Glens Falls, John Hunt, Sr.  (Sherri) of South Glens Falls and Robert Hunt (Sharon) of South Glens Falls; 16 Grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; her sister in law, Brenda Wright of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.  

Funeral services follow the calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the spring at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and aides at the Wesley Health Care Center for all their care and compassion, especially Bri and Sandy for staying with Margaret to the end.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Dear family and friends,

It is with heavy hearts that we must inform you of the passing of our father, Dominick (Mickey) Rosati on Friday, January 29^th, 2021  of natural causes. He was 90 years old and a resident of South Glens Falls.

Dad was born on July 17, 1930 to Dominick and Diana Rosati. He was raised in the Fenimore section of the town of Moreau with his five brothers – Vince, John, Phil, Lou, Fred and three sisters – Minnie, Cookie, and Rosie.

As a child, Dad attended Saint Mary’s School in Hudson Falls and was an altar boy for Monsignor Kiffin. He graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1949. A year later, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Taylor, on September 3, 1950.

After working hard and saving money, Dad decided to build a home for his young family. He completed the house in 7 months, using a house construction book for reference and with the guidance of the professionals at the old Griffin Lumber Company. He would subsequently help three of his brothers to build their homes.

Dad worked several jobs in the early years to support his young family. There were often part-time jobs to go to after a full day at the General Electric plant in Hudson Falls, where he was employed for 38 years. However, first and foremost in his life was his family. When Mom became ill, Dad took an early retirement from GE and dedicated himself fully to her care. She felt safe and secure with him by her side until she passed in 2002. He continued to be dedicated to Mom until his passing, visiting her grave every day the cemetery was open to the public.

Mom and Dad were members and eventually presidents of the Merry Mohicans Square Dance Club, where they made numerous longtime friendships. In addition, Dad was a dedicated communicant and volunteer at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in South Glens Falls. In his later years, Dad enjoyed attending his ’49ers’ luncheons and GE Quarter Century Club and retiree dinners.

Throughout the years, Dad was never more than a phone call away from his children and grandchildren to help them with all of their projects and dilemmas. Whether it be building a porch on a house or repairing a garage door, he could build or fix anything. If a grandchild called for advice from college or a daughter wanted help with a recipe, they knew Dad / Grandpa/ ‘Grampy’ would have the answer. Weekly family dinners were a tradition, with Dad doing all of the cooking.

Our Dad was known to many in the community as a lifelong friend, a fair boss, a devout Catholic, a loyal brother and uncle, a loving father and Grandpa and ” Mr. Mickey” to a young neighbor. He was a good man and we will sorely miss him.

HUDSON FALLS – Lorrie Jane “Ma” Rivers, 63, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Lorrie was born on July 15, 1957, in Glens Falls to the late Jeannette Mary (St. John) Rivers and William Moses Rivers of Queensbury.

Lorrie grew up on a small farm with her five siblings, Michael Eggleston, Shirley Eggleston French, Monica Gagne, Jessie Carpenter and Billi Jo Rivers.

She was an animal lover.  Lorrie was particularly close to her horse, Rusty and her squirrel Monkey JoJo.

In 1975, Lorrie graduated from Queensbury High School.  In 1978, she gave birth to her first daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rivers, one of her greatest achievements.

Lorrie’s eccentric and bubbly personality was a natural fit for the restaurant business.  She worked for the late “Doc” Joseph at Joseph’s Restaurant from 1984 to 1990, When she gave birth to her second daughter, Rebecca Rose Rivers.

Lorrie had a heart of gold and truly enjoyed caring for others.  In 1993, she obtained her CNA and worked for many years caring for the elderly at both the Stanton and Fort Hudson Nursing Facilities.  In 1996, Lorrie lost her father to cancer.  In 2004, she had the privilege of taking care of her very last and most beloved “patient”, her mother.

Jeannette lived with Lorrie until she passed in 2007.  The loss of her parents had left a hole in her heart, blessedly now filled. In 2014, Lorrie’s health took a decline and she could no longer care for herself.  She moved in with her oldest daughter and son in law Christopher Luce, who lovingly cared for her until 2019, when she moved to the Elderwood Nursing facility in North Creek.  Her sociable personality and natural ability to turn any situation into a party thankfully allowed her to truly enjoy her time at the nursing home.

Lorrie had a wild and free spirit.  She loved music, singing, dancing and making others laugh, and she was damn good at it.  Lorrie was always the life of the party with an exceptional personality unlike no other.  Lorrie was kind but she was always down for a fight.  She fought hard until the very end.  Now her fight is over.

Lorrie passed peacefully with her loving daughters by her side, late Saturday evening at the Glens Falls Hospital. 

Other than her daughters and siblings, Lorrie is survived by multiple nieces, nephews and countless friends; She was genuinely one of a kind and will be missed by many.

There will be no service,

Burial will take place in the spring at Southside Cemetery.

A celebration of life is planned for when it is safe for us all to be together.

A special, heartfelt Thank You goes out to the staff at Elderwood for making our mother feel at home.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – John E. “Jack” Newton, 88, of Terry Drive passed away on January 19, 2021, at Glens Falls, Hospital.

Born November 21, 1932, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Alfred and Helen (Murley) Newton.

John graduated in 1951 from Hudson Falls High School.

In May of 1956, he was united in marriage to Nancy Gray at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls. Nancy passed away on December 3, 2018 after 62 years of marriage.

John worked as an airport customer service agent for 32 years. He began his career in the Glens Falls Airport with Eastern Airlines, and Mohawk Airlines for 10 years, before working another 22 years in Albany for U.S. Airways.

Survivors include his sons, Thomas Newton of Woodstock, GA, and Steven Newton of South Glens Falls; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Per John’s request, there will be no services.

Mary Cornelia “Connie” McKenzie, 102, formerly of The Oaks in Fort Edward, passed away on January 23, 2021 at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Moreau, NY. 

Connie’s life overlapped two pandemics, 19 American presidents, and most of the significant social, scientific, and technological advances of the 20^th century.  Throughout her life, Connie demonstrated remarkable resolve, fortitude, and resilience in how she met challenges and set new directions.

Born on September 8, 1918, in Norlina, North Carolina Connie was the daughter of Robert and Nellie (Beardsley) Register.  Connie had loving memories of childhood spent with immediate and extended family at her grandfather Grant Beardsley’s millpond for Sunday fish fries. She was from a tightly knit extended family and was especially close to her cousins, with whom she played on many summer days.  At the age of 20, she left Norlina for New York City, where she served as an executive secretary at CBS radio for four years.  She met her husband, Bernard D. McKenzie, in Flushing, New York, where they raised their four children. 

Connie had a lifelong love of plants, flowers, and gardening.  Her expertise was largely self-taught and she knew the Latin name for virtually every plant. While shopping at Keil Brothers Florist and Greenhouse in the late 1970’s, she had a conversation with a staff member in which she identified by proper name many of the most obscure plants in the store. That prompted the staff member to introduce Connie to the owner who offered her a job on the spot.  During her years at Keil’s, she oversaw the purchase and sale of exotic plants.  As an avid and talented gardener and floral arranger, Connie participated extensively in her local communities and was a two-time president of the Flushing Garden Club. 

Upon her husband’s death in 1982, Connie demonstrated her tenacious spirit by learning to drive at 63 years of age. This required determination and resilience, which were hallmarks of Connie’s inner strength. Being able to drive afforded greater independence and the ability to spend entire summers at her beloved family camp in Indian Lake (NY), a place that had been a source of peace and joy throughout the life she shared with her husband and children. After moving to Queensbury, NY in 1984, Connie continued to nourish her interest in gardening, floral arrangements, and wreath-making.  In addition to working part-time as a designer at Evelyn’s Florals, she began her own business, Country Florals, and regularly participated in juried craft shows where she won numerous 1^st place blue ribbons for her designs.  Her love of plants was nurtured at her summer residence in Indian Lake.  In addition to creating natural plantings and hummingbird habitats, she made beautiful terrariums using native plants and ferns from the nearby woods.

In later years, Connie moved to The Oaks in Fort Edward, where she resided until June, 2019.  At that time she moved to her final residence, the Home of the Good Shepherd in Moreau. Connie’s life and love are captured in an excerpt from The Sacred Garden by Patricia Barrett:

            “Connection with gardens, even small ones, even potted plants, can

become windows to the inner life. The simple act of stopping and looking at the beauty around us can be prayer.”

Connie’s children encourage her friends and other loved ones to honor her memory and engage in the prayer that surrounds us by buying a flower or plant, or planting a small garden, or nourishing one they have. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Katherine Rodwell, Helen Mack Larson, brother Robert Register, daughter-in-law Mary J. McKenzie, grandson John McKenzie, and granddaughter Lisa McKenzie.

Survivors include her children, Neil McKenzie and his life partner, Sandra Beare of Sitka, Alaska, Grant McKenzie and his wife, Katie of Lexington, Kentucky, Nancy Virgil and her husband, Ernest of Lake Pleasant, New York, and David McKenzie of Selkirk, New York; three grandchildren, Jessica McKenzie, Daniel Virgil, and Christopher Virgil, seven great grandchildren, Gianna, John, Orion, Maya, Luci, Emmett, and Silas; and, numerous nieces and nephews.

Connie’s children extend their appreciation for the love and support provided by the caregivers during her years at The Oaks and the Home of the Good Shepherd.

Connie enriched the lives of many and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Due to COVID-19, the family will arrange a private memorial service.

HUDSON FALLS- Julie A. Cronin “Mimi”, 77, of Hudson Falls, passed away January 28, 2021.

Born June 6, 1943 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Fran Cole.

On August 17, 1963, Julie married Robert J. Cronin, Sr. at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.  Together they enjoyed 45 years of marriage until his passing on October 20, 2008.

Mimi enjoyed her many years working in real estate.  The light of her life was her family.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and even her 4 grand pups.  Mimi will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Wendy Diamond and her husband, Randy, Mary Legault and her husband, David, Stephanie Lemery, Robert Cronin Jr., and Jessica Cronin; her eight grandchildren: Tara Legault, Michael Legault, Kelsey Walker, Myranda Lynch, Kayleigh Porter, Caitlyn Lemery, Victoria Moon and Robert Cronin III; her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Lilly, Jack, Alanna; her 4 beloved grand pups;  her brother, Patrick Cole and his wife, Janet, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Burial will take place in the spring, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

KINGSBURY – Katherine “Kathy” Amy Loveland, 57, of Kingsbury, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Glens Falls Hospital, after a short illness.

Born on November 7, 1963 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Louise (Stevenson) Bean and  the late Francis Loveland.

Kathy attended educational programs through Saratoga Bridges. She loved listening to upbeat music and enjoyed participating in singalongs.  Kathy was a happy go lucky girl, always laughing and such a joy  to be around.  Her favorite food was all flavors of ice cream and to work it off, Kathy practiced yoga.   With help, she enjoyed creating ceramic gifts for her family.  She had the innocence and purity of a child and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Besides her father, Katherine was predeceased by her stepfather, Raymond Bean.

Survivors include her mother, Louise Bean of Ballston Spa; her brother, Dennis Loveland and his wife, Linda of Newport, TN; her sister, Doraine Miller and her husband, Patrick of Ballston Spa; her stepmother, Regina Loveland of Hadley;  her step-siblings, Richard Bean and his wife, April of Fort Plains and Terry Drake and his wife, Jennifer of Hadley; and her nephews, Daniel Miller and Aaron Miller, both of Ballston Spa.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.
