GLENS FALLS – Mary Jane (Toole) Burns, 66, of Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2020.
Born September 11, 1953 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Joan C. Toole.
On May 4, 1981, she married Robert Burns in Hudson Falls.
Mary Jane worked as an office manager for the dental office of Dr. Richard Garrett Sr., DDS and Dr. Richard Garrett, Jr., DDS.
She loved going to the family summer residence in Long Lake, where she spent wonderful moments with her grandchildren. Mary Jane just loved life and going to parties with her family and friends. She honored her heritage by cherishing her Irish roots.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her mother in law, Mary A. Burns and her brother, John A. Toole.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Robert Burns of Glens Falls; her children, Adam C. Burns and his wife, Casey of Queensbury and Joshua D. Burns of Glens Falls; her loving grandchildren, Oliver Burns, Madeline Burns and Micah Burns; her father in law, Bazil S. Burns, Sr. of Queensbury; her brother, James J. Toole and his wife, Nancy of Glens Falls; her sister, Joanne Palmer and her husband, Scott of Hudson Falls; her sister in law, Maria C. Toole of South Glens Falls and Margaret Burns Callahan and her husband, Tom Neforas of New Hampshire; her brother in law, Bazil S. Burns, Jr and his companion, Kim Finocchio of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, services will be private.

I am heartbroken for your family hearing the loss of Mary Jane. Her smiling face had greeted me many times over the years on my visits to Dr. Garrett’s office. I feel your pain, having just recently lost my husband Michael two months ago. God bless your family and may he give you some comfort as you mourn this terrible loss.

My family went to Dr. Garrett’s since we moved here in ’85. Mary Jane was always there with a smile and a chat. So sorry she was taken so soon, truly one of the nice ones and she will be missed.

Such a sweet lady, I Miss her when going to Dr Garretts office, She was looking forward to spending time at Long Lake and her grandchildren. Gods Grace on her family.
We were deeply saddened to hear of Mary Jane’s passing. She was always the rock that kept Dr. Garrett’s office functioning like a well oiled machine. I remember a time when my daughter had to have wisdom teeth pulled and I was talking to Mary Jane about having all removed today versus having to come back. Dr. Garrett thought we should only do a portion of them. Mary Jane stepped in agreeing to take them all out today and that is what happened. We missed her when she retired, but wished her a happy retirement. She touched many lives and will be fondly remembered as a person with a big heart and someone who was always smiling.
My heart aches right now, I’ve know Mary for over thirty years, ( Dr. Richard Garrett!s dental Practice) , she was such an incredible lady, and consummate professional!!!! My thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this time. I will miss her terribly!!!!!!! Kim Lewis and Hilary Tompkins
