Mary “Gen” Bernard

HUDSON FALLS – Mary “Gen” Bernard , 93, of Broad St., Hudson Falls went to the welcoming arms of the Lord at her home on Saturday, March 29, 2014 after a long illness, surrounded by her loving daughters.

Born on December 23, 1920 in Ticonderoga, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Angeline (Provost) Myott.  Gen married Ray Bernard of Hudson Falls on April 25, 1943, at St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Gen retired as a Head Baker in the Cafeteria at Hudson Falls Senior High School. She was a life long communicant of St. Paul’s/St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls and was a member of The Martha’s, the Senior Citizens of Hudson Falls and was an active member of the St. Anne’s Sodality. She enjoyed baking, “playing the slots” in Reno, going to the Saratoga Racetrack, golf and bowling. Gen’s main love and interest was her family.

In addition to her parents, Gen is predeceased by her husband Ray, her daughter Sharon and son-in-law Joseph Yaksta, brothers Frank, Milt, Hank, Don and Walt Myott, and sisters Aileen Taylor, Cecelia Jones, Evelyn Anderson Fredette and Marion “Lib” Fountaine.

Survivors include three daughters, Anne Reed and her husband, Thomas and Linda Barrett all of Lake Luzerne and Mary Chadwick and her husband, Chip of Reno, NV. Her daughters can only hope to have the wit, grace and longevity of their awesome Mom. Keeping up with her was a struggle! She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert Reed and his significant other, Linda Kotasek, Andrea Walker and her husband, Mike, Brent Reed, Michael Barrett, Patrick Barrett and his wife, Christine, Cherie Russell, and Michelle Kerest and her husband, Tom. She has eleven great-grandchildren, Taylor and Morgan Walker, Hanna, Brogan and Mattison Kerest, Benjamin Russell, Emily , Josh and Lorianne Barrett and Race and Fletcher Barrett; her sister in law, Muriel Dorsey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday, April 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home Inc. at 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday April 2 at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the Park in Hudson Falls, with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Mel, Margaret, Anna and Debbie, who have delivered loving, compassionate care and companionship for the past few years. Thank you.
