Marion L. Palmer

QUEENSBURY – Marion L. Palmer, 92, formerly of Ridge Road, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Pleasant Valley Health Care Facility in Argyle.

 Born on August 14, 1920 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Raymun W. and Inez (Stoddart) Louer, Sr.

 Marion was a graduate of Amsterdam schools and on March 25, 1941, she married James “Jim” E. Palmer of Amsterdam.  In 1960, she and her husband moved to this area from Canajoharie.   He passed away on June 24, 2008, after 67 wonderful years of marriage.

 Marion was a member of The First Baptist Church of South Glens Falls, where she served as choir director for 25 years.  She taught Bible history for several years and was active in the Gideons International Auxiliary.

 Marion loved music and studied voice for many years. She sang with the Mohawk Valley Chorus in Amsterdam.  Marion was a charter member of the Mastersingers, now known as the Adirondack Voices. She also was a very talented pianist and organist.  Her other enjoyment included serving as librarian for the Queensbury Senior Center.  Her greatest love was her family, for which she had made 43 hand stitched quilts to keep them warm.

 Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her four brothers, Richard D. Louer, Raymun W. Louer, Jr., Milford H. Louer and Norbert Louer.

 Survivors include her children, Lauren Palmer and his wife, Susan of Hudson Falls and Suzette Usher, and her husband, Jack of Queensbury; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Scott Palmer and his wife, Rene and their children, Benjamin and Samuel of Glens Falls; Laurie Ecker, and her husband, Lee and their children, Lauren, Bradley and Nicole of Wilton; Matthew Palmer and his wife, Renee and their children Jack and Katie of Heuvelton; Stephanie Roberti and her companion, Rich Hayden of Port Ewen and her children, Hannah, Jeffrey and Jacob of Saugerties; Maureen Usher-Riggs and her husband, Garrett of Portland, Oregon and Brian Usher and his wife, Heather and their daughter, Emory of Queensbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

 Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at The First Baptist Church of South Glens Falls with Rev. Richard Dietrich, pastor  of The First Baptist Church and Rev. Michael Plank, pastor of The First Presbyterian Church of Hudson Falls, officiating.

 Burial will be in Seeley Cemetery in the Town of Queensbury at a later date.

 Her family wishes to thank the Alzheimer’s Unit at Pleasant Valley Health Care Facility for the wonderful care and compassion given to Marion and her family.
