Linda Mae O’Brien

GLENS FALLS – Linda Mae O’Brien of Glens Falls passed peacefully from this life on February 21, 2023. Linda was born on November 18, 1940 in Troy, New York to parents Julius Saehrig and Alice Gates Saehrig.

She is survived by her brother David Saehrig; her two sons, David (Stacy) and Casey (Gabrielle); and grandchildren Clare, Sean, and Skylar. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill.

Linda studied medical technology at Albany College of Pharmacy and was a teacher’s aide at Southwestern Central School. She was an avid birdwatcher and volunteered at both the Audubon Society and with her friend, the legendary ornithologist Roger Tory Peterson, at his institute in Jamestown for many years. Linda loved the Adirondacks, especially her family camp at Brant Lake. She also loved John Denver, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and singing old riverboat songs passed down from her mother’s family.

Linda was a breast cancer survivor and a long-time choir member at St Luke Episcopal Church in Jamestown, New York. In her later years, she enjoyed her neighbors at the Oaks in Fort Edward, having good conversations, working puzzles, and playing bingo and bag toss.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Church of the Messiah, 296 Glen Street, Glens Falls, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda’s name to the Audubon Society.

Linda and Bill were friends at The Leonard Hospital laboratory back in the 1960s. Hard workers, kind hearts and great senses of humor!
