Lillian E. LaPan

LaPanKINGSBURY – Lillian E. LaPan, 93, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, with her family by her side, at the Stanton Health and Rehabilitation Center in Queensbury.

Born on September 15, 1919, in Queensbury, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Lola (Barrett) Lemery.

Lillian attended Glens Falls Schools.

In 1937, she married Albert LaPan.  He passed away in December of 1995.

Lillian was an active member of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society as well as the St. Anne’s Sodality.  Lillian was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the 60 Plus Senior Citizens of Hudson Falls and Fort Edward.  For many years she enjoyed going on trips with them.  Lillian enjoyed playing pinochle, bowling, traveling and spent many summers camping at Lake Hadlock.  One of her favorite past times was crocheting and sewing many beautiful items for her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Earl Lemery and Donald Lemery.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Barnes and her husband, George of Hudson Falls and Barbara Oligny of Queensbury; her son, Thomas LaPan and his wife, Melanie of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Kathy Moench and her husband,  Douglas of Latham, Karen Rose and her husband, Gordon of PA, Ann Hodkinson and her husband, Albert of PA, Mary Heydrick and her husband, John of Hudson Falls, Robert Barnes and his wife, Donna, of MA, Tim Barnes and his companion, Barb of Hudson Falls, Cheryl Oligny of Scotia, Linda McEachron and her husband Ted of Gansevoort, Dianne Oligny and her companion Traci of Hagaman, Jeff Oligny of VA, Lori Handlon and her husband, Ryan of NV, Matt LaPan of Glens Falls, Brandi LaPan and her companion Justin of South Glens Falls, Logan LaPan and her companion Andrew of Queensbury; 13 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; her sister in law, Muriel Dorsey of Fort Ann; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 9 am, on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor officiating.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Lillian’s family would like to thank the staff in the South Wing of the Stanton Nursing and Rehab Center for the wonderful care given to their mother.

    Gramma will always hold a special place in my heart. The smell of her house, the chickens in the kitchen, the big willow tree we would play under, picking fresh rhubarb and eating it. I will miss her greatly but I know ahe is with my Lord and Savior and I will see her again when I get to heaven.
