Joan (Chadwick) Starteri, 69, a longtime resident of Notre Dame Street, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Our House Residential Care Home in Rutland, Vt.
Born May 17, 1943, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Anne Marie (Leroux) Chadwick.
Joan attended Hudson Falls High School and for many years, following school, was a housekeeper in many area homes. She was well-liked by every family she helped. Joan was the type of person that was ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed her. She loved to work, and for more than 20 years, was employed at C.R. Bard in Queensbury.
Anyone who knew her understood Joan’s love of shopping until she dropped. She also enjoyed walking and baking, especially, banana nut bread. Her cat, Addie, gave comfort to her throughout the years. Joan was very proud of her son, Sam, and his family and loved spending time with them.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Jean Brown.
Survivors include her son, Sam Starteri and his wife, Ali, of Texas; her grandchildren, Kiara and Meghan Starteri, both of Texas; her siblings, Richard Chadwick and his wife, Peg, of Queensbury, Linda Sherry and her husband, Norm, of California, Mary Lou Sawyer and her husband, Gary, of Queensbury, Frank “Chip” Chadwick and his wife, Mary, of Nevada, and Andre Chadwick and his wife, Sandi, of Queensbury; a special niece, Jessica Doane and her husband, Donald, and daughter Maddy, who were Joan’s caregivers for many months; and several nieces, nephews and cousins who were very special to Joan; and her good friends, Mary Beth Fenton and Judy Chagnon.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park, in Hudson Falls with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.
The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.
