Harold E. Vaughn

VaughnHUDSON FALLS – Harold E. Vaughn, 91, formerly of River Street, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving daughters on Saturday, September 28, 2013.

Born on October 13, 1921, in Kingsbury, he was the son of the late Millard and Mildred (Wells) Vaughn.

Harold grew up on a farm and went to school in Argyle.  Before enlisting in the US Army, he worked for a trucking company.  Upon his return from service, Harold began his career at Imperial Paint and Color, then Hercules and finally Ciba Geigy, retiring in 1983, with over 30 years of service.

On September, 4, 1943, he married Nellie Ydikoski, at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson Falls.

Harold enjoyed snowmobiling, tending to his vegetable garden and working outside on his yard.  Since he was an all around handyman, he earned the name, Mr. Fix It.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Charles Vaughn and his sister, Irene Gray.

Harold is survived by his wife of 70 years, Nellie Vaughn of Hudson Falls; four daughters, Patricia Deyette of Kingsbury, Diane Murray and her husband, Patrick of Hudson Falls, Kathleen Vaughn of Hudson Falls and Carol Basilio and her husband, Dominic of Queensbury; three grandchildren, Jack Deyette, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, Tammy Deyette and Shannon Potter and her husband, Todd; one great grandson, Matthew Ballard; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 11- 12 noon at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Following the calling hour, the Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward, with the Reverend Joseph Busch, pastor of Our Lady of The Annunciation, in Queensbury, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

 

Harold’s family wishes to thank the staff at Crescent Manor in Bennington, Vermont, for the wonderful care given to their father.
