AbbeyAbbey oldQUEENSBURY – Ann S. Abbey, 81, a long time resident of Queensbury, went into the arms of the Lord, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Indian River Health Care Facility in Granville, surrounded by her loving family

Born August 10, 1932, in Queensbury, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Melvina (Mero) Stockwell.

In 1949, Ann graduated from Glens Falls High School.

She worked at General Electric in Fort Edward and Hudson Falls for over 40 years.

Ann loved spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren and enjoyed traveling reading, and walking.

Besides her parents, Ann is predeceased by her ex-husband, Carl I. Abbey, her brothers David, Charles, and Wayne Stockwell, and her four half brothers, and two half sisters.

Survivors include her son, Carl S. Abbey of Hudson Falls and his loving companion, Susan Dalbey; her grandchildren, Christopher Abbey of South Glens Falls, Brett Abbey and his wife, Hillery of Queensbury, Keith Abbey and his significant other, Beth Bello of Fort Ann; her great grand children, Luka, Kendall, Reann, Andrew, and Kyle Abbey; her special niece, Joan LaPier and her husband, David of Queensbury; several other nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her special friend, Diane Ingleston of Whitehall.

Friends and family may call Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m, at Carleton Funeral Home,h Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with Rev. Donald Shuler, interim pastor of the Village Baptist Church of Fort Edward, officiating.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Pine View Cemetery in the town of Queensbury.

Ann’s family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Indian River Health Care Facility for their compassion, care and kindness given to Ann and her family.

Donations in memory of Ann may be made to a charity of one’s choice

    Prayers and condolences to Ann’s son Carl, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and Joan and Dave LaPier.
    Ann was a very wonderful woman and we enjoyed the laughter she gave us whenever we saw her. She is now at peace and will be watching down over you all with smiles.
