Amy M. Tranowicz

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Amy Marie Tranowicz, 42, most recently of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at home.

Born November 5, 1981, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Margaret “Peggy” Ball of Gansevoort and David Tranowicz of South Carolina.

Amy grew up in South Glens Falls and attended South Glens Falls High School. In 2008, she met the love of her life James “Jay” Etu Jr. and began their beautiful family in 2009 with their daughter Liliana. A few years later they welcomed their second daughter, Layla.

For many years, Amy was employed at CWI in Glens Falls as a Residential Aide working at their location on Bay Road.

Amy was a private person. She really enjoyed reading. She loved suspense thrillers, horror, and mystery novels by her favorite author, Dean Koontz. Amy was also a reality TV junkie. She would watch “Cops”, “Live PD”, “My 600 lb. Life” and “1,000 lb. Sisters”. Amy also liked to watch “Law and Order: SVU”, cooking shows and Dr. Phil. While watching Dr. Phil, Amy and her sister, Lori, would be on the phone with each other talking about the situation Dr. Phil was trying to resolve. Amy also loved to cook and bake. She was known to bake the best cakes.

Amy is predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Sterling Ball; paternal grandparents, Betty, and Bill Tranowicz; her uncle Larry Ball; and Jay’s father also known as Papa Blue, James Etu, Sr.  

Survivors include her fiancé, Jay Etu; her daughters Liliana Rose and Layla Bettyjean Tranowicz; her mother, Peggy Ball; sister Lori (Ed) Marble; her nephew, Jayden Perkins; her maternal grandmother, Mildred Rundell; and her father, David Tranowicz. Amy is also survived by her aunt, Karen Cozzens whom she was very close to and had a special bond, and several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will be held at 1p.m. immediately following calling hours.

A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after the funeral service at the SGF Eagles Club FOE #2486, located at 80 Main Street in South Glens Falls.

    I will always miss her. Had many good memories that started when she was 16. She had a heart of gold and she was so proud to be a mom. I’m sorry for everybody who loved her. My biggest regret is that I allowed her to lose contact with me.

    I went to school with David and Peggy; and I go to church with Mildred. Words cannot express how my heart hurts for the entire family. I pray God’s comfort and peace to all. “Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4.
