ADAMSVILLE – Margaret “Peggy” K. Vaughn, 86, of Adamsville, gained eternal peace on February 11, 2019. Her quiet, loving ways will be missed immensely here on earth.
She was born to John and Eunice Keays on January 26, 1933 in Hudson Falls, NY. She attended St. Mary’s and graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1951.
On January 24, 1953, she married Bernard J. Vaughn. She and Bernard were charter members of the Barnstormers Snowmobile Club, and active members of the Kingsbury Baptist Church for many years.
Peggy worked at Locke Agency in Hudson Falls while raising her family and establishing the family dairy farm in Kingsbury.
Along with their dairy farm, Peggy and Bernard built and operated the Hen House Diner on Route 4. Peggy’s attention to detail and unlimited energy were key factors in the success of those businesses.
In 2007, they moved to their farm in Adamsville, where family visits were enjoyed on the front porch, and memories were made at “The Pond”.
Peggy was a woman of great faith, who placed her worries in God’s hands. Everything she did revolved around family. She felt blessed to grow up in a large Irish family in a little house; and she was devoted to making life easier for those she loved.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard J. Vaughn; her son, Kevin J. Vaughn; and siblings, David Keays, Rich Keays, John Keays and Kathryn Fitzpatrick.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Karla Rukat (Tarry) and Lisa Friedman (Charles); siblings, Noma Bump, Elizabeth Davis, Joseph Keays (Virginia), Robert Keays (Marie); grandchildren, Kerrie Strong and significant other, Kevin Watrous, Heather Tucker (Jeff), Kyle Rukat, Tori Vaughn (Hilary), Derek Vaughn (Carrie Marie), Adisen Friedman and Landen Friedman; eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
At Margaret’s request, there will be no calling hours.
Service will be held Thursday February 14th at noon at Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY.
Burial will be at the discretion of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingsbury Cemetery Association, c/o Lois Sullivan, 15 Old Cronin Rd, Queensbury, New York 12804.
