Cindy Barot

HUDSON FALLS – Cindy Barot, 61, of Hudson Falls passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends, Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Glens Falls Hospital, after a long battle with cancer.

Born July 8, 1957 in Glens Falls, Cindy is the daughter of the late James E. Barot, Sr. and Gladys (Bragg) Barot.

Cindy was a dedicated employee for many years at Angio Dynamics, Tech Park, Glens Falls location.

Cindy was a loving sister, aunt, great aunt and in-law who enjoyed spending time with family. She spent many summers, winters and holidays visiting with her siblings and their spouses. She interacted with her nieces and nephews and cherished those moments and years watching them grow into adults. Cindy considered them as if they were her very own children.  Her generosity and love spread throughout to family and friends.

In her quiet time, Cindy enjoyed playing computer games, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and always kept up with local and world news. She devoted her time to her dog, Chelsey, whom she loved dearly.  On a lighter note, Cindy took delight in giving advice.


Cindy’s nephew, Christopher and wife Amber graciously welcomed her into their home shortly after she became ill. In the last eight months of her life, Cindy lived with her loving brother, Charlie. During the week Charlie’s son, Zack, would do frequent visits and bring lunch to his aunt. Cindy was blessed to have family members nearby helping during her difficult time.

Those who knew Cindy loved her and she will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents, Cindy is predeceased by her sister, Caroline Restivo, her nephew, PJ Husek and her brother-in-law, Robert Stevens.

Survivors include her siblings, Linda Stevens of Queensbury, James E. Barot, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Glens Falls, Charlene (Bunny) Pugliese and her husband Edwin of Glens Falls, Ruth Keller and her husband William of Athol, and Charlie Barot of Hudson Falls; her longtime friend Susan Ireland of Glens Falls; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Stoutenburg, MD and staff;  staff at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center;  and the staff at Tower 2.

At Cindy’s request, there will be no calling hours.

There will be a graveside service in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park St., Glens Falls, NY  12801.

Rolland H. “Beezie” Wade

FORT EDWARD – Rolland H. “Beezie” Wade, Sr., 89, of Broadway, passed away, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on January 30, 2019.

Born on August 14, 1929 in South Bridge, MA, he was the son of the late Waldo and Myrtle Wade.   Beezie was a hard worker.  He grew up during the depression, taking any jobs he could get to support his family.

Beezie served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1959.  He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.  Beezie worked for Native Textiles in Glens Falls for 13 years. He also made furniture at Telescope, Inc., in Granville and for 25 years he worked for Decora in Fort Edward, until his retirement in 1991.

In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and riding motorcycles.  Beezie also loved getting his hands dirty working on cars.   He spent many hours riding his bike on the bike path, from Fort Edward to Lake George.  You could also find him watching western movies on his TV.   Although, the center of his life was his family.  Beezie loved family picnics and spending time with his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his four children, Linda Wade of Corinth, Rolland H. Wade, Jr. and his significant other, Katherine Brumley of Saratoga Springs, Michael Wade and his significant other, Sandy Copeland of Queensbury and David Wade of Fort Edward; his step daughters, Caroline Greene and Robin Haflin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Clyde Wade of Argyle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Stillwater, with full military honors.Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Anthony “Tony” Caroprese

ARGYLE – Anthony “Tony” Caroprese, 67, of Lufkin Way, passed away unexpectedly, after a sudden illness, on January 29, 2019, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on March 23, 1951, in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Gerard and Gaetana (Codispoti) Caroprese.

Tony was a 1969 graduate of Franklin K. Lane High School in Queens.

On June 11, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Hopkins, in Queens.  Tony and his wife, Bonnie wanted to raise their children upstate, so they moved their family to Ballston Spa. Although, Tony and his wife, lived most of their married life in Victory Mills. 

He worked in the auto parts industry for his entire career and loved being called “T the C”, Tony the Counter Man.

Tony also enjoyed bantering about politics and was always up for a lively debate.  He enjoyed playing poker with his friends, camping on Lake Champlain with his wife and traveling the country, camping with their 5th Wheel.  Tony loved his wife, his children and his grandchildren and will forever be missed by them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Bonnie Caroprese of Argyle; his children, Heather Welch and her husband, Thomas, Jr. of Schuylerville and Melissa Caroprese of Spain; his grandchildren, Casey Welch of Schuylerville and Lucas Welch also of Schuylerville; his brother, Gerard Caroprese and his wife, Lucille of New Jersey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Tony’s request, there will be no services.

William “Bill” Theis

GEORGE’S MILLS, NH – William “Bill” G. Theis, 89, of George’s Mills, NH and formerly of East Glenville, passed away on January 9, 2019 at Concord Hospital in New Hampshire, after a brief illness.

Born on November 11, 1929 in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Houck) Theis.

After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted into the US Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1952.

While serving his country, on December 30, 1950, Bill married his hometown sweetheart, Beverly Ford in Newfane, NY.

He spent his entire career in the newspaper industry.  First as a typeset and then eventually retiring as head machinist at Albany Times Union.  While at the Times Union, one of his proudest moments was setting up the computer terminals for the paper at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.   Bill would also be called by other newspapers to troubleshoot computer problems.   During his working career, Bill and his family lived in West Covina, CA and Glenville.  He retired from the Times Union in 1992 and moved to the family summer home in George’s Mills, New Hampshire.

Bill loved camping with his family at Fish Creek in the Adirondacks for many years.  He also enjoyed boating, waterskiing, trick skiing on a disk and fishing on Fish Creek ponds. Along with his wife, Beverly, he loved wintering in Palm Desert, CA with his Fifth Wheel.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers in law and sisters in law, Russell Dickinson, Irving and Joyce Manning and Emmett and Janice Manning.

Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly F. Theis of George’s Mills, NH; his devoted children, Linda and Bob Lemieux of Argyle, Gary Theis of George’s Mills, NH and Brian and Jing Theis of Irvine, CA; his sisters, Elaine Dickinson and Joan Prost, both of CA; his grandchildren, Joe and Shawna Theis, Jamie and Matt Durkee, Nick and Jessica Theis, Jennifer and Dave Leskow, Alicia Theis and Michael and Mitchell Theis; his six great grandchildren, Bella and Kyler Durkee, Jamison, Owen and Aubrey Theis, and soon to be Davie Leskow; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside Services will be in the summer at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in Stillwater.

Delbert “Rusty” Ellsworth

GLENS FALLS – Delbert “Rusty” Ellsworth, 69 of Glens Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the Glens Falls Hospital.  

Born on September 16, 1949 in Rochester, he was the son of the late Sherman and Margaret (Gilbert) Ellsworth.

On December 14, 1969, he married Debra Galloway.  They have been married for almost 50 years.

Rusty loved collecting antiques and all sorts of collectables.   He was known to collect anything he found valuable and that wasn’t always monetary.   Rusty’s life centered around his grandchildren.  He loved watching them grow up and was very proud of all their accomplishments.

Rusty was a kind man who was always there to help his family and friends in need.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Timothy Ellsworth, his sister, Sharon Smith and his nephew, Jody Ellsworth.

Survivors include his loving wife, Debra Ellsworth of Fort Edward; his six children, Dale Ellsworth and his partner, Serena Haydrick, Casey Stemp and her husband, William, Stacey Ellsworth and her partner, Jonathan Alden, Brandon McKinstry, Ellie Harris and her husband, Justin and Tanesha McKinstry and her partner, Nathan Wadsworth; 11 grandchildren, Trinity, Avory, Alex, Sebastian, Damion, Kashton, Lilly, Gabriel, Jordon, Dexter and one on the way; his siblings, Andrea Ellsworth, Michael Ellsworth, Sherman Ellsworth and Robert Ellsworth; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, following the calling hour, at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Northeast Kidney Foundation, 22 Colvin Ave., Albany, NY 12206.

Chester John Spirowski, Sr.

FORT EDWARD – Chester John Spirowski, Sr., 99, went to be with his beloved wife, Betty, on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Slate Valley Center for Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on February 7, 1919, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late John and Rose (Midura) Spirowski.

In 1945, he married, Elizabeth J. Fischer, at St. Mary’s Church, in Hudson Falls, with Monsignor Arthur S. Kiffin, officiating.  She passed away on November 8, 2011, after 66 years of marriage.

He worked for Scott Paper Company, in Fort Edward, retiring in 1981.  After his retirement, Chester loved to make concrete ornaments with his son, John.  You could always find Chester on the weekends camping in Warrensburg with Betty, Mary and Maynard. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and spending time with his family.  Chester loved to tell stories of years gone by and always said, “They were hard times, but they were good times”.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Walter (Spizowski) Speck, his son, Chester J. Spirowski, Jr. and his granddaughter, Jill Parker Ward.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Jane Parker and her husband, Maynard of Hudson Falls; his daughter in law, Diane Spirowski; his grandchildren, Maynard “JR” Parker, Jr., Raymond Howard, Jr., Michael (Jo-Lynn) Spirowski, Michele Wade, Cindy (Gary) Sprague, Joann ( Michael) Therrien and Suzanne (Dale) Norton; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; his sister, Frances Speowski of Glens Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Saturday, January 26, 2019, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Leroy “Roy” Fuller, Jr.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – Leroy “Roy” Fuller, Jr. 93, passed away at Granville Center in Granville, on Sunday, January 20, 2019.

Born on November 19, 1925, in Gilman, VT, he was the son of the late Leroy Linwood and Carrie (Young) Fuller, Sr.

Roy served in the U. S. Army during World War II.

On September 14, 1947, he married Marian E. Mattison in the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls. They resided many years in Plattsburg and Burlington, VT before moving to South Glens Falls.

Roy’s 45 -year broadcasting and engineering career started in the U.S. Army during World War II.  After the war, he worked at WGLN in Glens Falls, then went to Broadcasting Engineering school in Troy, NY.  Following graduation, he worked at WIRY in Plattsburgh, WCAX television in Burlington, VT, then WWSC in Glens Falls, WXXA television in Albany, WLFH in Little Falls, WKAJ in Saratoga and finally, WSTL in Glens Falls as “Ranger Roy” playing country music.  His long career ended with his retirement in 1990.

As a member of the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls, Roy taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir and was a lay leader. He later became a member of the First Baptist Church in Glens Falls, where he served as a choir member and Sunday School teacher.

His enjoyments included computers, music and years ago, amateur radio operation with call letters K2TAM.

In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his wife, Marian; and his three brothers, Robert E. Fuller, James C. Fuller and Charles Fuller.

Survivors include his son, Bryan Fuller and his wife, Miriam of Hudson Falls; two grandchildren, Brent Linwood Fuller and his wife, Aurora of Valley Cottage, NY and Michelle Tero and her husband, Sanny of Hudson Falls; one great grandson, Christopher Linwood Fuller of Valley Cottage; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held in the spring, at the Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Gerard “Gerry” C. Morin

HUDSON FALLS – Gerard “Gerry” C. Morin, 95, of Washburn Drive, died on Monday, January 14, 2019, at home, following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 6, 1923 in St. Georges Beauce, Quebec, he was the son of the late Alfred and Roseanna (Poulin) Morin.

On September 11, 1954, he married the love of his life, Georgette Gagnon in St. Georges, Quebec.  They have spent 64 wonderful years together.

Gerry, as he was known to his friends, moved to Newcomb in 1956, with his new bride, to pursue the American dream. While in Newcomb, he worked for a logging camp. In 1959, he moved to South Glens Falls to work for a contractor named Sam Mammone and this began his long career as a Master Carpenter.  In 1987, he retired after building and renovating many homes for his customers.

He enjoyed working with his hands and time spent with his family. Gerry also loved to go on camping trips and vacations to St. Georges in Canada to see family.   Most of all, he cherished time spent with his wife, his daughter, his son in law, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.   Gerry was also very proud to have become a naturalized citizen in 1962.

Faith was very important to Gerry.   He was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, where he served for many years as an usher.

In addition to his parents, Gerry was predeceased by his five siblings, William, Ferdinand, Cecile, Rita and Geralda.

Survivors include his loving wife, Georgette Morin of Hudson Falls, his daughter, Lina Palmer and her husband, Jon of Hudson Falls, his two grandchildren, Brian Palmer (Kacie) of Rochester and Amy Catalfamo (Anthony) of Burnt Hills, his great grandchildren, Anthony, Alexander and Amelia Catalfamo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special thanks to Father Tom, Mary Stein and the HHHN Homeward Bound Team for all their care and support. The family is also very thankful for his caregivers, JoAnn Owens and family and Jennifer Anderson.   Their generosity will forever be remembered.

There will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park, in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be later in the spring, at St. Paul’s Cemetery, in the town of Kingsbury.

Those honored to be pall bearers will be Anthony Catalfamo, Brian Palmer, Jonathan Palmer, Jean-Pierre Langlois, Rick Jarvis and Steve Murray.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials in Gerry’s memory, be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Penny Lane, Latham, NY 12110.

Robert “Bob” Charles Sumner

STONY CREEK- Robert “Bob” Charles Sumner, 72, of Harrisburg Road, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 11, 2019.

Born on May 6, 1946 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Charles and Irene (Daniels) Sumner.

For most of his life Bob drove an 18-wheeler.  He was employed by Marion Construction in Florida for several years before moving back North to be with his family.

Bob loved his motorcycles, especially riding with his family and his dog, Nibbit. He spent many hours hunting deer with his brother, Steve and his nephew, George.  Bob also enjoyed fishing in the Hudson River near his home in Warrensburg. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, Bob loved watching old westerns on T.V.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his sister, Diane McQuain and his brother-in-law, Hank Manney.

Survivors include his children, Charles Sumner, Bob Sumner, Billy Sumner and Shelly; his siblings, Steven Sumner and his wife, Bertha, Ellen Lurvey, Charles Sumner and his companion, Mary Palma, Bonnie Manney, Dody Thetford and her husband, Steve, Mabel Colombe and Richard Sumner, several grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Pine View Cemetery.

The family suggests that donations in Bob’s name be made to the American Heart Association, 4 Atrium Drive #100, Albany, NY  12205.

Roger G. Smith

HARTFORD – Roger G. Smith, 54, passed Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the Glens Falls Hospital into a pain free world from complications from cancer treatment.

Roger was the son of the late Robert F. Smith, Jr. and Ruth (Brodie) Smith, he was born on February 6, 1964 in Glens Falls and a graduate of Hartford High School.  His first employment after high School was with Smiths Equipment Co., with his father, Mother and three brothers in the family owned business, selling and repairing lawn and garden equipment.

He later worked for N.Y. Fire and Signal Co., and also with a larger cattle breeding company, Genex Wisconsin.

Roger is survived by his mother, Ruth Smith; his son Casey R. Smith and his girlfriend, Sarah Bellanger and their soon to be born daughter; he is also survived by three brothers, Robert (Gayle) Randy (Diane), and Ronald (Sue); also many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Burial will be in the spring at Morningside Cemetery in the town of Hartford.

We the family wish to thank the many doctors and staff that in anyway helped Roger with his many years of Cancer survival struggle, also Tony and Verna and those who helped with his vacation to Jamaica and Carol B. Who Volunteered to fly back with Roger after his operation in Florida, Thanks everyone.

Arthur “Art” Wells, Sr.,

FORT EDWARD – Arthur “Art” Wells, Sr., 82 of Mahaffey Road, went into the arms of the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019, at The Pines in Glens Falls.

Born on May 2, 1936, in East Windsor Hill, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph and Beatrice Wells, Sr.

Art was married to Lena B. (LaPlante) Wells, mother of his children, for over 24 years.  For the past 32 years, he shared his life with his best friend, Sharon Dickinson, who passed away this past July.

Art was a longtime business owner in the area.   He established AW Paving and Seal Coating in Fort Edward.  The paving business was a large part of his life.  Art loved working alongside his children and also meeting and making many friends along the way.

He was a dedicated father, grandfather, brother and friend.  Art loved his hot cup of tea and visiting with his family and friends.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping with his children.  He was a car enthusiast, who loved attending car shows and restoring old cars.  Art was very proud of the work done on his 1975 Dodge Truck.  Although, his favorite car was always the 1957 Chevy.  Family was the center of Art’s life.   He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed every moment with them.  

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his companion, Sharon Dickinson, his brother, Samuel Wells and his sister, Ann Wells.

Art is survived by his loving children, James Wells, Arthur Wells Jr. and his wife, Wendy,  Michelle Allison, Gary Wells and his wife, Jennifer, Leonard Wells, William Wells and his wife, Melynda, Beatrice Greenough and her husband, Mike and Karen Wells and her companion, Frank Smith; his two brothers, Joseph Wells and his wife, Audrey and William “Willy” Wells; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special friend, Ray Kirby.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. 

Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Marie S. LaTour

HUDSON FALLS – Marie S. LaTour, 96, of Earl Towers, passed away, on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility.

Born on July 12, 1922, in Witherbee, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rachel (Pagana) Vartuli.

She attended Mineville High School.

While she was working as a nurse’s aide in Ticonderoga, she met Ainsworth LaTour.  After moving from Michigan to be with Marie, they were married on July 4, 1948, at St. Michael’s Church in Witherbee, NY.

In 1993, Ainsworth passed away and Marie moved to this area to be near her sisters.

Marie was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  She loved to read and write letters to her family and friends.   Marie also enjoyed watching television.  She often traveled to see her sons in Burlington, Vermont, Springfield, Ohio and Salt Lake City, Utah to attend her grandson, Jason’s wedding.

In addition to her parents and her husband of 45 years, she was also predeceased by her beloved son, Michael LaTour; her brothers, Patrick, Frank, Joseph and Michael Vartuli and her sisters, Catherine Corbo, Theresa Rizzo, Josephine Rossini and Mary Sines.

Survivors include her sons, Edward LaTour and his wife, Ann of Springfield, Ohio and Joseph LaTour of Burlington, Vermont; her five grandchildren, Jason LaTour, Megan Stewart, Adrie LaTour, Philip LaTour, Maria LaTour; her two great grandchildren, Kaitlin Stewart and Sacouya LaTour; her sister, Angie Curran of Queensbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday, January 14, 2019, from 10 to 12 noon, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will follow the calling hours on Monday, at 1 p.m. at the Church of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ticonderoga.
