Ralph N. Whiting

Whiting 1HUDSON FALLS – Ralph N. Whiting, 74, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

Born on January 26, 1939, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Frank and Grace (LeValley) Whiting.

Ralph worked for over thirty years at Decora, formerly located in Fort Edward.

He was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church, formerly in Glens Falls, where he was active in the Diocesan Development Program.

Ralph enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren.  His greatest joy was the time spent with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a great grandchild, Aiden Ryan Perry, his brothers, Frank, Richard, George and Douglas Whiting and a sister, Dorothy Whiting Rowe.

Survivors include his wife Patricia; two sons, Jeff Whiting and his wife, Kathy of Hudson Falls and Christopher Whiting and his wife, Tammy of Hudson Falls; his daughters, Rose Whiting Wells and her husband, Sam of Hudson Falls, Theresa Whiting of Hudson Falls, Stephanie Pidgeon and her husband, Matthew of South Glens Falls and Elizabeth Cenate and her husband, Joe of Hudson Falls; 26 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Harriet (Whiting) Nichols of Queensbury; two brothers, Raymond Whiting and his wife, Margaret of Queensbury and Robert Whiting and his wife, Beverly of South Carolina; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

The Rite of Committal will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, later in the spring.

George R. Case

Case 1CaseHUDSON FALLS – George R. “Rockhead”  Case, 76, of Martindale Avenue, Hudson Falls passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

Born on May 4, 1936, in Granville, he was the son of the late George E. and Margaret (Roberts) Case.

He served with the United States Army from 1958 to 1962, serving most of his time in Germany.

George received a Degree in Engineering from Hudson Valley Community College in the first year the college offered an engineering program.

In 1970, he began his career at Sandy Hill Iron and Brass in Hudson Falls as a mechanic.  He was promoted to General Manager of the Maintenance Department in 1975 and retired in 1993.

George loved the outdoors, fishing, nature, the Adirondack Mountains reading, listening to his tunes and tinkering in his garage. He was a selfless, great provider to his family who remember him as a great story teller, some true, some not so true.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by three sisters, Sharon M. Case, Shirley Woods and Geraldine Zellars.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Shirley M. Case of Hudson Falls; his children, Lori Kelly of Sturbridge, MA, Lisa Sellers (Patrick Stallings) of Macclenny, FL, Scott George Case and his wife, Meiki of Fort Edward and Amy Chadek and her husband, Charles of Ocala, FL; two granddaughters, Amber Kelly of North Grafton, MA and Chloe’ Sellers of Macclenny, FL; a brother, John Case of Fort Edward; a sister, Louise Rizzo and her husband, Sal of Granville; his first wife, Elaine Tinsley and her husband, Dick of Ocala, FL; his wife Shirley’s children, Timothy Ames of Glens Falls, Theodore Ames of Queensbury, Theresa Backus, her husband Steve and her son Kelly of Queensbury and Jason Mattison and his wife Tracy and their children, Jacob, Bradley, Tyler and Emily, all of Wasilla, Alaska; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

Funeral services and interment are private.

Paul E. Lindsey

Lindsey, PaulHUDSON FALLS – Paul E. Lindsey, 80, a longtime resident of Seventh Street, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at the Glens Falls Hospital.  

Born on February 4, 1933, in Ticonderoga, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Alice (Hurlburt) Lindsey.

Paul was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

On October 31, 1953, he married Estelle Lemery at St. Mary’s Church in Glens Falls. She passed away on November 28, 2012.

Paul served with the National Guard for several years.  He worked as a draftsman for General Electric and then was responsible for Quality Assurance for Kamyr and Neles-Jamesbury in Glens Falls.

Paul was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls and was a longtime member of the Monsignor Arthur S. Kiffin Council 296  Knights of Columbus in Hudson Falls.  Paul was also an avid bowler. He served as secretary in several area bowling leagues and he taught youths bowling on Saturdays.  He was also an avid golfer.  Paul’s love of aviation started when his National Guard days motivated him to build many detailed scale model airplanes.  Several years ago, Paul returned to the skies, by earning his pilot’s license. 

In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by his two sisters, Doris Donaldson and Mary Jane Rivett and his brother, Charles Donaldson.

Paul is survived by his sons, Paul E. Lindsey, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Chittenango, Peter J. Lindsey and his significant other, Peggy Mattison of Hudson Falls and Phillip A. Lindsey and his wife, Shelly of South Glens Falls; his grandchildren, Daniel Lindsey and his wife Katie, MA2  Carson Lindsey, USN, Paul B. Lindsey, William Lindsey, Brittany Lindsey and her significant other Shane Maynard and Sarah Lindsey, Nicholas Lindsey, two great-grandchildren, Payton and Hailey;  and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc, 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park, in Hudson Falls with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

Marvin C. Hall

HallGLENS FALLS – Marvin C. Hall, 89, of Fifth Street, passed away, on Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Stanton Healthcare Facility in the town of Queensbury.

Born on October 30, 1923, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Clarence and Rita (Crippen) Hall.

Marvin was a 1941 graduate of Glens Falls High School.

From June of 1942 through November of 1945, he served with the United States Army, during World War II.

On February 5, 1953, he married Ruth E. Duell in Connecticut.

Marvin worked for 38 years for Niagara Mohawk, now known as National Grid where he was a chief maintenance mechanic.  After retirement he was a member of their 25 year club.

He was a member of Christ Church United Methodist in Glens Falls and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, gardening and bird watching.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Wilma “Billyann” Granger.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth E. (Duell) Hall of Glens Falls; four children, William Hall and his wife, Sharon of Glens Falls, Sharon Hogue and her husband, Michael of Ellicott City, MD, Valerie Healt and her husband, David of Queensbury and Terry Bell and her husband, Thomas of Queensbury; five grandchildren, Kimberley Somelofske, Debbie Hall, William Hall, Amy Towers and Michael Hall; five great grandchildren, Brittany Ann Somelofske, Alex Hall, Billy Hall, Nolan Towers and Jason Hall; one sister, Vera Lacko of Glens Falls;  several  aunts, nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours scheduled.

Interment with military honors will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery on Duell Rd in the town of Stillwater.

Memorial Services will follow the Interment at 12:30 on Friday, at Christ Church United Methodist on 54 Bay Street in Glens Falls with the Rev. Philip Richards, pastor, officiating.  A luncheon will follow the memorial services at the church.

Marvin’s family would like to thank the staff and nurses at the Stanton Nursing Home, South Wing, for the all excellent care given to Marvin.

Beverley M. Macey

MaceyHUDSON FALLS – Beverley M. Macey, 97, of Catherine Street, passed away at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility on Saturday, March 30, 2013.

 Born on May 15, 1915 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Hazel (Hagadorn) Rivers.  

She attended Hudson Falls High School and graduated from the Austin Beauty School in Albany.

On November 28, 1936, Beverley married Robert F. Macey at the former St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.   He passed away on May 31, 1995.

After beauty school, Beverley ran a beauty shop at the former Carleton Hotel in Hudson Falls.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.  She was also a member of American Association of Retired People and the 60 Plus Senior Citizens of Hudson Falls & Fort Edward and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Glens Falls Lodge #81.

 Besides her parents and husband, Beverley was predeceased by her stepfather, Clifford Mayotte, Sr. , two sisters, Rilla Ruddy and Marjorie O’Leary and a brother, Roland Mayotte.

Survivors include her son, Robert F. Macey, Jr. and his wife, Joan, of Queensbury; three grandchildren, Patrick Macey and his wife, Kristy, of Queensbury, Michele Leonka and her husband, Christopher, of Queensbury, and Nancy Kearney and her husband, James, of South Glens Falls;her  great grandchildren, Brendan Leonka, Brittany Leonka, Jared Macey and Derek Macey, Aidan Kearney and Kelan Kearney; three brothers, Clifford Mayotte, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of California, Paul Mayotte and his wife, Barbara, of CT and John Peter Mayotte and his wife, Amelia, of FL;one sister  Linda Mayotte of Hudson Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, with the Reverend Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal  will take place later at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Margaret Mary Brodeur

GLENS FALLS – Margaret Mary Brodeur, 94, of Glens Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Pines in Glens Falls.

Margaret was born on June 16, 1918, in Cooperstown, the daughter of the late Wilfred L. and Rose (Lynch) Brodeur.

She attended Sanford Street School from 1922 to 1932 and St. Mary’s Academy from 1933 to 1934.  Margaret then transferred to Glens Falls High School from 1935 to 1936.  She graduated from Marymount College in 1940, with a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Studies.

Margaret was employed by George R. Coreghlan, Jr., Esq. and Ryan Yavonditte & McCall, Esqs, as a legal secretary.   She was also a secretary to Commissioner Edward R. Dickenson, Jr., in the New York State Department of Commerce from 1953 through 1954.  From 1955 to 1980, Margaret was a Research Economist.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sisters, Anne Webster, Kathleen Brodeur and Martha Bombard.

Survivors include her sister, Lucille DelSignore of Queensbury; and eleven nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass for both Margaret and her sister, Kathleen “Kay” Brodeur  will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park, in Hudson Falls.

Kathleen Rose Brodeur

brodeurGLENS FALLS – Kathleen Rose Brodeur, 93, of Glens Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Kathleen was born on November 15, 1919, in Massena, NY, the daughter of the late Wilfred L. and Rose (Lynch) Brodeur.

She was an honors graduate of Marymount College.

Kathleen worked for King’s Syndicate in New York City, the First National Bank in Glens Falls and for Frank McGinley in Glens Falls.

She was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church, formerly in Glens Falls.

She enjoyed the family home on Coolidge Ave. in Glens Falls and the family home in Kattskill Bay which she enjoyed from her childhood on.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen is predeceased by two sisters, Anne Webster and Martha Bombard.

Survivors include her sisters, Margaret Brodeur and Lucille DelSignore of Queensbury; and eleven nieces and nephews.

Jean (LaPoint) Sipowicz Bullock

HUDSON FALLS – Jean LaPoint (Sipowicz) Bullock, 81, of Hudson Falls, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Westmount Healthcare Facility, in Queensbury, after a long illness.

Born on June 20, 1931, in Kingsbury, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Imogene (Kingsley) LaPoint.

She attended Hudson Falls High School.

Jean worked at Chase Bag, formerly in the town of Moreau and was a short order cook at many local restaurants.  She also worked for the Washington County Veteran’s Administration.

She was a member of the Glens Falls VFW Auxiliary as well as the American Legion Post 574 Auxiliary in Hudson Falls.

She enjoyed playing pool.  Jean loved her pet bird, Alfred and her dog, Brownie.  She especially loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Jean is predeceased by her first husband, Thaddeus Sipowicz, her second husband, Sheldon Bullock, her daughter in law, Carolyn Sipowicz her brother George I. LaPoint, her sister Virginia Leone and her brothers-in-law, Jack Mylotte and John Leone.

Survivors include her 7 children, Deborah Granger and her husband, Michael of Queensbury, Diane Murray and her husband, Richard of Hudson Falls, Denise Rothermal and her husband, J. David of Hudson Falls, Daniel Sipowicz and his wife Susan of Argyle, Dennis Sipowicz of Malone, David Bullock and his significant other, Stephanie of Hudson Falls and Deidre Bullock of Ohio; two sisters, Joyce Mylotte of Rensselaer and Shirley Denno of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Jodi-Marie Rowland (Scott), Stephen Baker (Kimberly), Tammy Willett (Richie), Jason Baker (Monique, Michael Murray, Julie Bonn (John), Pamela Gitto, Chad Granger and Michale Granger II; 12 great-grandchildren;  three great-great grandchildren; two step grandchildren, Chad and Michael; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special friend Chancey Huestis.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A service will follow the calling hours at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Following the funeral services, family and close friends are invited to a reception at the Hudson Falls American Legion, Post 574, on Pearl Street in Hudson Falls.

Interment will take place later in the spring at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Jean’s family suggests that memorials in her memory take the form of donations to the charity of one’s choice.

The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Reeves and the staff of Tower 6 of The Glens Falls Hospital and the special nurses and aides, who showed so much care while jean was at Westmount Health Facility.

Judit Bain

FORT EDWARD – Judit Bain, 77, of Fort Edward, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born on May 16, 1935, in Budapest, Hungry.

In July of 1973, she married Charles Bain in Buffalo.  They enjoyed 39 wonderful years together.

Judit worked for Sheridan Medical for several years.  She enjoyed crocheting, puzzles and playing Nintendo games.  Judit was a loving and wonderful wife.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Bain of Fort Edward; her niece and caregiver, Joan Ely, another nieces Pam and her husband, Denny Huminston; her nephew, Leo Rousseau and his wife, Theresa and several other nieces and nephews; her brother in law, Henry Bain and his wife, Harriett; and her sister in law, Martha Raney.

At Judit’s request there will be no services.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Glens Falls Hospital Foundation, 126 South St Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Bonnie J. (Broderick) Stockwell

FORT EDWARD – Bonnie J. (Broderick) Stockwell, 57, of Fort Edward, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Glens Falls Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on November 18, 1955, in Rhinebeck, NY, she was the daughter of Mary (Masterson) Broderick of Hudson Falls and the late Joseph Henry Broderick.

Bonnie was a 1973 graduate of Hudson Falls Senior High School.

On May 28, 2005, she married Dennis Stockwell in Glens Falls.

She worked in the bindery department at the Post Star for many years.

Bonnie was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Assemblies of God Church in Hudson Falls where she enjoyed singing.  She liked photography and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 8 years, Dennis Stockwell of Fort Edward; her mother, Mary (Masterson) Broderick of Hudson Falls; her sons,  Justin Broderick of Missoula, Montana and Benjamin Broderick of Fort Edward; two step-daughters Denise Stockwell of Fort Edward and Patty Cook and her husband Rob of Hudson Falls; three step-grandchildren, Kayla, Christopher and Cody Miranda; her brothers, Mike Broderick of Atlanta, GA, Kelly Broderick and his wife Amanda of Miramar, FL and Craig Broderick of Atlanta, GA; her sister Deborah McNeil of Salem; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Gospel Lighthouse Church on LaCrosse St. in Hudson Falls with Pastor Paul Mead officiating.

Patrick J. “Uncle Pat” Corrigan

corriganHUDSON FALLS – Patrick J.”Uncle Pat” Corrigan, 73, of Grove Ave, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Glens Falls Hospital, after a short illness.

Born on May 17, 1939, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Archie and Alice (Sullivan) Corrigan.

Pat attended Hudson Falls High School and served in the United States Army.

For 20 years he owned and operated Corrigan’s Barbershop in Hudson Falls.  He retired from barbering and opened Uncle Pat’s Sub Shop at the same location.  He operated that business for another 23 years and then finally retired.  Pat was known for his Irish humor and was a goodhearted, kind soul.

Pat was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Darlene (LaPoint) Corrigan, a son, Tim Corrigan and two brothers, Robert Corrigan and William Corrigan and a sister in law, Susan Corrigan.

Survivors include his children, Colleen Holden and her husband, Jay of South Carolina and Daniel Corrigan and his wife, Violet, also of South Carolina; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Kay Williamson and her husband, Ron of Argyle; and a brother, Tom Corrigan  of Glen Lake; three step-children, Raymond VanNess and his wife, Jean of Randolph, Phyllis VanGuilder and her husband, Richard of Hudson Falls and Mary Harrington of Hudson Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

Michael J. Seamon

SeamonSOUTH GLENS FALLS – Michael J. Seamon, 66, of South Glens Falls, went into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at his home.

Born on December 21, 1946, in Saginaw, MI, he was the son of Helen (Hammond) Seamon and the late Roger Seamon.

He was a graduate of Petosky High School in Michigan.

Michael served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

On October 3, 2009, he married Bonnie Taylor at New Life Baptist Church in Hudson Falls.

He retired from Springer Waste Management in Fort Edward.

Michael was a loving father, husband and helpful to anyone who needed help.  He enjoyed sports, fishing, camping, hiking, NASCAR and while in high school, he enjoyed playing football.

Being a member of New Life Baptist Church in Hudson Falls was a great joy to Mike.  He served on the church’s jail ministry.

Besides his father, he is predeceased by an infant brother David.

In addition to his wife of 4 years, Bonnie (Taylor) Seamon of South Glens Falls, he is survived by his sons, Timothy Seamon of South Glens Falls and Michael Seamon of Crown Point, Indiana; his daughters, Janiece Seamon of South Glens Falls and Jackie Wakefield of Indiana; his mother, Helen (Hammond) Seamon of Petroski, MI; a sister, Cheryl Wilkenson of Oklahoma a brother, Roger Seamon and his wife, Jodi of Petosky, MI and Tim Seamon and his wife, Linda of Gaylord, MI; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his brothers in law, Richard Taylor and his wife, Tara of Katherine, GA and Keith Taylor and Tonya of Gloversville; his mother in law, Elizabeth Taylor of Wells, NY; and his father in law, Paul Taylor of Glens Falls.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at New Life Baptist Church at 62 Main St. in Hudson Falls, with Pastor John Hawkins officiating.

Michael will be returned to his hometown in Michigan after the services.

His family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the New Life Baptists Church Jail ministry, 62 Main St., Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

Duane “Tony” Dubay

GLENS FALLS – Duane “Tony” Dubay, 79, a longtime Glens Falls resident, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at The Pines in Glens Falls.

Born on February 28, 1933, in Kingsbury, he was the son of the late Roy John and Iva (Dudley) Dubay.

He was a 1952 graduate of Fort Edward High School.

Tony served with the National Guard out of the Glens Falls Armory in the early 50’s, as soon as he got out of high school.

On September 11, 1954, he married Diane Shea at St. Alphonsus Church, formerly in Glens Falls.

He worked as a mechanic for JR Earl & Sons Ford in Lake George and was a longtime self employed master mechanic at “Tony’s Garage” in Glens Falls.

Tony was a hard working man.  He was a member of the independent Order of the Odd Fellows in South Glens Falls, a Pack Master of the Cub Scouts in Glens Falls and a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church, formerly in Glens Falls.  He will be sadly missed by family, friends and his customers.  He was a quiet and gentle man who never really retired.  His customers were considered his friends.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Donald, Jack and Almond.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diane (Shea) Dubay of Glens Falls; his children, Karen Dubay and her companion, Eileen Sullivan of Whitehall, Kevin Dubay of San Antonio, TX, Suzanne Beddia and her husband Rodney of York, PA and Marianne Baker and her husband, Tracey of Tavares, FL; two sisters, Frances Gugliotta of Eustis FL and Pearl Tallini of Hudson Falls; His grandchildren, Michael Dubay, Heather McEwen, Adam Beddia, Nicole Beddia, Joshua Dubay, Gina Primeau, Christina Primeau, Sierra Primeau, Trey Baker and Stacey Baker; two great-grandchildren, Shelby Wagnon and Bryndon Wagnon; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Carleton Funeral Home, inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105  or the charity of one’s choice
