Charles “Chuck” L. Burch

FORT EDWARD – Charles “Chuck” L. Burch, 67, of Fort Edward passed away at Glens Falls Hospital on Saturday, December 4, 2021, following a short illness. 

Born on July 24, 1954 in Glens Falls, Chuck was raised in Johnsburg, NY and was a graduate of Johnsburg Central School. Chuck was a long-time business owner in Hudson Falls, NY, but most recently retired as a driver at Target Warehouse in Wilton, NY. 

As a father, our Dad will always be remembered as the one to go to when Mom said “no” because most assuredly, Dad would say “yes”. He will be truly missed by his children and grandchildren. 

Chuck can be summed up in two words: “social butterfly.” He loved to be around people and they, in turn, loved to be around him. His many friends were like a second family to him and they knew him to be a very jovial, welcoming soul, the life of the party and a man who would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. 

During his retirement, Chuck lived his best life every day. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, traveling, riding his motorcycle with friends, but most of all, riding motorcycles with his son, Patrick.  He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, loved to BBQ for people and became a seasoned gardener over the years. 

Chuck is survived by his three children: Mandy Hughes (Keith Hughes), Jennifer Burch, Patrick Burch (Jennifer Brayman), and his five grandchildren: Dristin Hughes, Alisondra Hughes, Hannah Burch, Mackenzie Burch and Kaylee Burch. 

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls. All visitors are asked to please wear a facial covering or face mask, regardless of vaccination status.

A private family visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. prior to the public calling hours.

The family would like to thank the staff at Glens Falls Hospital for the care given to our Dad. We would also like to thank his circle of friends, too numerous to list, for being there for our Dad. 

Jerry A. Worth

GLENS FALLS – Jerry A. Worth, 69, of Kensington Road, went into the arms of the Lord on Monday, December 6, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 24, 1952 in Glens Falls, he was a life-long Hudson Falls resident and son of the late Robert and Shirley (Blair) Worth.

Jerry attended Hudson Falls High School. On January 21, 1989, he married Carol Sink at the Church of the Annunciation in Queensbury. He worked for several moving and storage companies as well as asphalt pavers in his younger years. Jerry made a career as a carpet installer, working for himself and assisting many other companies with installing. He was talented at what he did and through word of mouth, he was always able to keep busy with his work.

Jerry enjoyed the outdoors, spending his time fishing and riding his bicycle. He liked working in his flower gardens and received many compliments on his flowers. Jerry also liked taking photographs of birds and nature. He was a devoted father to both of his children and a good husband. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, John Worth.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carol Worth of Glens Falls; his children, James Worth of South Carolina and Jessica Worth of Glens Falls; a sister, Sharon Howe (Del) of Florida; a brother, Jimmy Worth of Florida; his beloved four legged grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to High Peaks Hospice, especially Jerry’s nurses, Vicky Goodspeed and Maria for their care and compassion.

A service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Bailey of High Peaks Hospice, officiating.

Daniel E. Usher

GLENS FALLS – Daniel E. Usher, 59, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December

2, 2021 at Elderwood in Ticonderoga, NY.

Born May 6, 1962 in Glens Falls, he was a life-long area resident and son of the late

Kenneth and Ellen (Mastrangelo) Usher. Dan was a graduate of Glens Falls High School.

Dan was a huge football fan and loved watching his Denver Broncos play. He enjoyed jamming out to ‘80s rock music, playing golf, skiing, playing poker, and especially bowling.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by the love of his life, Rhonda “Rhoni” Laabs.

Dan is survived by his children, Stephen Usher (Courtney) of Waterford and Megan

Usher (Michael Ingignoli) of Troy; his grandson, Charlie Usher; his sisters, Dale Maturski (Howard) of Pownal, VT and Jeanne Cirino (John) of Queensbury; and his brother, Kenneth P. Usher (Susan) of Glens Falls.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY. A service will follow at 6 p.m.

Joanna K. Marine

HUDSON FALLS – Joanna K. Marine, also known to all those who knew and loved her as Josie or Gog, formerly of Martindale Avenue, died December 1, 2021, after a rich full life.

Born on September 16, 1921, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Doyle) Keays.

Joanna was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

On May 4th, 1940, Joanna Keays married Herman Marine in Hudson Falls.  They were married 49 years when he died on March 31st, 1989.

Over her life, she has worked for several area insurance agencies, including Hughes Insurance and Behan Insurance Co.

Joanna was a lifetime Communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, where she served as a leading in the Catholic Daughters of America for many years.  She also proudly served the church as a Eucharistic Minister.   For several years, Joanna was very involved in the New York State Insurance Women.

She loved travelling. Joanna went to England, Ireland, Prince Edward Island, Hawaii, Jamaica, and Maine. She made multiple trips to Old Orchard beach with her friend, Pat Lamb, where they enjoyed flying kites on the beach. In Jamaica, she rode donkeys with her friend, Marie Philo. She also enjoyed reading books and going shopping with her friend, Muriel Newton. After her retirement, she worked for a short time with her friend, Jane Edgerly, at Jane’s Sewing Shop in Hudson Falls. Throughout her life she was an avid reader, a wonderful cook and a generous giver to her favorite charities, Covenant House, and Paralyzed Veterans, for many years.   Joanna hosted all the holidays at her home.  She enjoyed the company of her family and friends and the wonderful memories made.  Joanna recently celebrated her 100th birthday at the Pines of Glens Falls.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, William Keays and James Keays and her cousin, whom she raised as a sister, Harriet Hogan.

Survivors include a son, Peter (Ann) Marine of Hudson Falls; a daughter, Kathleen Flanagan of Hudson Falls; grandchildren, Beth (KJ) Donohue of Hudson Falls, Mike Marine of South Glens Falls, Mark Marine of Denver, NC, William (Heidi) Marine of South Glens Falls, Susan (Ben) Bishop of Hudson Falls, John Marine of Ballston Spa, Robert (Megan) Flanagan of Bend Oregon,  and Adam Flanagan of Hudson Falls.  She is also survived by great grandchildren; Keven Donohue, Dennis Donohue, Michael Marine, Joseph Marine, Jack Marine, Nicholas Marine, Vincent Marine, Amelia Marine, Violet Marine, Sophie Flanagan, and Dax Flanagan, and one great-great grandchild, Sienna Donohue.  Also surviving her are Holly Cole of Sabael, NY and Pamela Forde of San Diego, CA, both considered her as their second mother and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m., at St. Mary’s/ St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated, 1 p.m., following calling, at the church.

The Rite of Committal will follow the mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Diane C. Purner

HUDSON FALLS – Diane C. Purner, 78, passed away on November 25, 2021, at Albany Medical Center, following a stroke.

Born on December 20, 1942, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Charles and Madalyn (Coates) Nicholson.

Diane was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

Diane was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson Falls.  She served as church secretary, treasurer, director of the choir and director of the bell choir.  For the fall Bazaar, she built so many of the items throughout the years that were sold, along with her homemade candy and craft items.  She was just always willing to help out where-ever needed.

Diane enjoyed her horses and huge garden years ago, along with all the other animals.  Diane was very talented with anything that she wanted to learn, which is such an extensive list.  Throughout the years she belonged to many area organizations.

In 1962, she married Paul Purner and together they raised two sons, Michael and Peter.  Upon retirement, they began spending their winters in Homosassa, Florida.

She will be remembered as a hardworking, kindhearted, self-sufficient person, who was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone.

In addition to her husband, Paul Purner, she was predeceased by her brother, Clyde Nicholson and her sister, Gail Nicholson.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael Purner and his fiancée, Brenda Nutting and Peter Purner; her grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) Traylor, Joseph, William, & Nikita Purner; her great grandchildren,  Zachary and Nyla Traylor; her sister, Linda (Bill) Haessly; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from 11 to 12 noon at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon at the funeral home with Pastor Peggy Norton, of the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls, officiating.

Burial will follow at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Wayne J. Wildey

GLENS FALLS – Wayne J. Wildey, 58, of Glens Falls, passed away on November 24, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital. 

Born on January 2, 1963 in Glens Falls he was the son of the late Herbert and Lois (Fuss) Wildey, Jr.

Wayne attended Hudson Falls High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.   He proudly served his country from 1980 to 1986, achieving the rank of Lance CPL, upon his Honorable Discharge.  After serving his country, he first started working for Northern Distributing Company and ended his working career at the “Fort”, Fort Miller Company.  Wayne enjoyed his job at the Fort serving for 27 years.

After meeting Lisa Gray in 1990, they married in 1994 and were blessed with their daughter, Merissa.

Wayne leaves behind a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends.  He was a man of very few words, “I’m fine” with a heart of gold, who loved everyone.   He enjoyed all sports, fishing and hunting.  Being a high school Soccer referee was his greatest passion, but above all, was his love for his daughter, Merissa Rae.  Anyone who knew Wayne, understood his proudest moments in life was being father to Merissa and the bragging rights that it entailed. Wayne never hesitated to tell those around him all about her.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lisa Wildey; his daughter, Merissa Rae Wildey; his brother, Herbert Wildey III and his wife, Paige; his sister, Diane Hagadorn and her husband, Harold; his “favorite” mother in law, Donna Kegan and her husband, Jack ; five sisters in law, Colleen Paolicelli and her husband, Frank, Debi Gray, Sally Deming and her late husband, Ron, Jackie Kegan and Mary Kegan and her companion, Dave; several nieces and nephews, Nicholas Wildey, Kaitlin Allen and her husband, Zane, Jaleen “Birdie” Collar and her husband, Andrew, Kegan ”Beegs” Gray, Nicole Deming, Leah Deming, Joseph Wells and Anna Claire Blowers and her husband, Brian; four great nephews, Skyler, Carter, Nash and Hudson; several aunts, uncles and cousins; his closest great friends, Roger and Gail Morehouse, George and Julie Miller and Wayne and Mary Manuel; and his two daughters from a previous marriage, Angela and Terra; and his grandchildren, Kyle, Riley and Kaiden.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 10, at the funeral home, with George Miller, officiating.

Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Gurney G. Bennett

HUDSON FALLS – Gurney G. Bennett passed away peacefully in his home on November 17, 2021 after a long illness, surrounded by his companion, family & friends.

Born on September 27, 1950 in Hudson Falls NY, he was predeceased by his parents Robert F. Bennett & Thelma R. (Flanders) Bennett, and his brother Robert Fichtner.

He retired in 2014 from SCA Tissue in South Glens Falls due to illness.

As a child, his parents took his family camping at Boris Pond. As an adult, he kept up the tradition by camping with his friends Gordon Van Lint and Robert Laplant.

He had a lifelong fascination with trains and loved to watch live train videos online. He also loved bowling and darts. He never missed any of his grandchildren’s special events.

Left to cherish his memories are his companion Doreen “Corky” Bénard, his brother Glenn Fichtner and wife Barbara Fichtner of Argyle, his sister-in-law Roseanne Fichtner, his children Shemariah Carlisle of Hudson Falls, Jerica Bennett and partner Daniel Pronto-Gordon of Saratoga Springs, Dennis Patchen and partner Britt Patch of Queensbury, and Heather Wilkening of Hudson Falls and his grandchildren Raven Carlisle, John Wilkening, Rio Patch, Emma Ploof, and Abigail Ploof, and several nieces and nephews.

Steve Gorton was a close friend since childhood.

Special thank you to Rondo Gage for always being there.

A celebration of life will be held in Spring 2022 at his home.

Michael Scott Sanders

FORT ANN – Michael Scott Sanders, 29 of Fort Ann, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 28, 2021.

Walter “Butch” Wall

GANSEVOORT – Walter “Butch” Wall, 50, of Gansevoort, passed away unexpectedly on November 25, 2021, at Albany Medical Center.

Born on February 14, 1971 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Elaine (Jones) Wall and the late Walter G. Wall.

Butch attended Hudson Falls High School.

On September 12, 1998, he married Melissa Younger in Hartford.

Butch was a talented contractor and carpenter who took on various jobs through his business.  He loved what he did and was able to plan and build anything he set out to do.  Butch had a passion for woodworking and woodburning.  Many of the beautiful creations he made were given to his family and friends.   Butch was an outdoor enthusiast, who loved hunting and fishing throughout the Adirondacks.   He also had treasured memories kayaking with his wife on Forth Lake.  His two sons held a special place in his heart.  Butch loved hunting, fishing and four wheeling with them at a moment’s notice.  He was always ready to spend time with them.  Butch loved spending time watching football with his friends Don, DJ and Boston.

Besides his father, he was predeceased by his best friend, DJ Philion.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Melissa Wall of Gansevoort; his sons. Shawn (Hailey) Wall of Hartford and Corey (Alisia) Wall of Gansevoort; his mother, Elaine (Jones) Wall of Hudson Falls; his sister, Sonja (Tom) Matteson of Hudson Falls; his brother, Aaron (Alice) Wall of Fort Edward; his nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

To celebrate Butch’s life, everyone is welcome to the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574, 72 Pearl Street in Hudson Falls on Tuesday, December 7, from 2 to 6 p.m.  Covered dishes are welcome.

JoEllen “Joey” Thompson

Gansevoort– JoEllen “Joey” Thompson, 50, passed away unexpectedly on Nov 24th 2021, with her loving family by her side at St. Peters Hospital due to complications following surgery. 

Born in Glens Falls on Aug, 25th 1971 she was the Daughter of James Maloney and Judith Maloney of South Glens Falls. 

Joey graduated from South Glens Falls Sr. High School in 1989, she went on to become a License Practical Nurse following graduation.

Joey was a loving and devoted mother to her 3 boys and grandmother of her grandson. She would give and do anything for anyone, always willing to give a hand to help another. Regardless of what was going on Joey always had a smile that would light up the room. Her smile, laugh and infectious personality will be missed by all. To know her was to love her. She loved spending time with her boys and her grandson. They loved the outdoors fishing, camping, hiking, relaxing sharing laughs, stories, and memories by a fire. She looked forward to long car rides with her boys. Joey was an avid hockey fan growing up collecting sticks and jerseys and loved bringing Owen to the games. Her grandson Owen “Bubby” was the sparkle in her eyes and joy to her life. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all that knew her.

Predeceased by her grandparents Edward and Thelma Pronto and William and Gladys Maloney. Mothers companion Harry Coonradt.

Those left to cherish her memories are her (Sons) Alexander Bovair, Joseph Bovair and Logan Brayman Fiancé (Angel), Grandson Owen Bovair, Grandpup Bailey, (Father) James Maloney and wife Garnet, (Mother) Judith Maloney, (Sisters) Jacquelyn Beaty husband Don Beaty, Jessica McKenzie-O’Donnell husband Brian O’Donnell, (Nieces and Nephews) Katelyn Michael fiancé John Gray, Jenelle Graham, Tyler Beaty fiancé Logan, Jenna McKenzie and grand nieces and nephews Harper, Maverick, Johnny, and Maclin.

Gail M. Ingleston

FORT EDWARD – Gail M. Ingleston, 73, of Fort Edward, left us unexpectedly, but peacefully, on November 26, 2021, at her home.

Born on March 3, 1948, in Schuylerville, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Evelyn Dickinson.

Gail was a proud graduate of South High, class of 1967.

She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.   Family was her life and she valued the time she spent watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.

Gail was a longtime Auxiliary Member of the Gansevoort Volunteer Fire Department.  She loved lots of Cumby’s coffee and going fishing, wherever she could throw a line in.   Gail also enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially her favorite racers, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.  She was an avid animal lover, who treasured her fur babies, Teddy and Cinnamon.  Gail loved collecting cherubs and also enjoyed listening to country music.  Her family and those who knew her will always remember her for her big heart.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Ingleston.

Survivors include her children, Frank Burns and his fiancé, Maria DiCicco of Hudson Falls, Chuck Burns and Dot of VT, Billie Jo Hughes and her husband, Matthew of Hudson Falls, William Wells and his wife, Sherry Brownell-Wells of Fort Edward and Richard Wells and wife, Jenna of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Sanita Meade, Tiffany Lunt, Kyle Burns, Caleb Burns, Catherine Wells and Ann Marie Wells; her step grandchildren, Sarah Brownell and Asya Tatsey; her great grandchildren, Kelsey Williams and Nikolai Williams; and many other loving friends and relatives.

Elsie M. Paris

HUDSON FALLS – Elsie M. Paris, 89, of Oak Street, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness.

Born on May 1, 1932, in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Sarah (Hoy) Gurney.

Elsie was a graduate of Whitehall High School, Class of 1949, and Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in Schenectady.

On December 27, 1952, Elsie married James S. Paris at Our Lady of Angels Church in Whitehall.  James passed away on September 29, 2010, after 58 years of marriage.

Elsie was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, where she was a lector, a Eucharistic Minister, and Coordinator for the Bereavement Ministry.

Elsie especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was very proud of their accomplishments.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elsie was predeceased by her brothers, Henry and Alfred Gurney, and her son-in-law Lance Gifford.

Survivors include her two sons, John Paris of Hudson Falls and Daniel Paris of Kinsley, Kansas; two daughters, Susan Paris of The Villages, Florida, and Jill Paris of Rensselaer, New York; three grandsons, Daniel Carney (Kelly) of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Ryan Carney of Rensselaer, New York, and Aaron Paris of Kinsley, Kansas; one great-granddaughter, Teagan Carney of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Elsie’s family would like to thank the T3 medical unit staff at Glens Falls Hospital, Dr. Thomas Coppens and Dr. Emily Rapasadi for their kindness and compassion for their mother.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Ronald K. Naatz

QUEENSBURY – Ronald K. Naatz, 80, beloved husband and father of Queensbury passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born January 14, 1941 in Stony Creek, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Harris) Naatz. Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Naatz.

Ronald proudly served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 and received the Good Conduct Medal.

On August 21, 1965, he married his wife of 56 years, Alecia Gilman at the Baptist Church in the town of Moreau.

In his younger years, Ronald worked as a cook for Glens Falls Hospital.  He then worked for Northern Distributing in Queensbury and worked at Web Graphics for a few years before retirement. 

Ronald loved cooking and baking, and while serving in the military he was a cook. Ronald was a former member of the West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Department.   He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping, gardening, fishing, riding his motorcycle and experiencing nature.  He loved country music.  Ronald was the epitome of a hard-working family man.  Many cherished memories were made when he would load up the family, every weekend, for a family adventure. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Alecia Naatz of Queensbury; his three children, Terri Kingsley of Glens Falls, Heather Mitchell of South Glens Falls and Lonnie Naatz (Nicole) of Queensbury; his grandchildren, Chelsea Kingsley, Jacob Mitchell, Alexis Mitchell, Kayden Naatz and Kurtis Naatz, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.           

Friends may call Tuesday, November 30, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls.  All visitors are asked to please wear a facial covering or face mask, regardless of vaccination status.

A burial will take place, at the convenience of the family, at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, with full military honors.
