QUEENSBURY – Emma Raine Wall, infant daughter of Tanner Wall and Makayla Tucker, was born at peace on July 21, 2021 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Although her time here was short, she was loved beyond measure by her parents.

Emma was previously joined in heaven by her infant sister, Amelia Wall; her paternal great grandparents, Carla Gilman and Stanford Gilman and her maternal great grandmother, Gayle Jones.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her  brother, Kaiden Wall; her paternal grandparents, Dorraine Wall and Randy Wall; her maternal grandparents, Autumn Tucker and William Tucker; her maternal Great grandparents, Linda and Alfred Tucker; her aunts and uncles, Meghan Gilman, Adam Wall, Marcus Tucker and Izick Tucker.

There are no services currently planned.

Emma’s parents would like to thank everyone for their care and support, especially the nurses and staff of the Snuggery at the Glens Falls Hospital.

QUEENSBURY – Thomas Joseph Ross, 72, passed away on July 26, 2021, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Tom was born on November 7, 1948 to the late Joseph and Colleen (Burke) Ross of Whitehall. 

After graduating from Whitehall High School in 1966, Tom immediately joined the United States Air Force.  Upon returning home, he attended Adirondack Community College, now SUNY Adirondack, and graduated with honors from the Siena College accounting program with honors.  Tom went on to become a CPA and began his professional career as a CPA in this area.  In 1980 he joined the regional accounting firm, Silverstein and Loftus, as a tax supervisor.  As the firm grew, he earned a series of promotions.  In 1986, partners Saul Silverstein and Gerald Loftus invited Tom to join them as a shareholder and the firm’s name soon became, Silverstein, Loftus and Ross.  In 1999 Tom was named President of the firm and began leading it through an era of steady growth during which the name of the firm evolved to reflect retirements of longtime partners and the addition of new partners.  2012, Tom and his partners sold the firm, then known as Ross Rigby and Patten, to Marvin and Co.

Despite a full-time thriving and demanding career, Tom dedicated countless hours to local charitable organizations. In 2001, Tom was the recipient of the J. Walter Juckett Community Service Award, an award given by the Adirondack Regional Chambers of Commerce to an individual who demonstrates “a fierce commitment to betterment of our local community”.  He had a previously been honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from Adirondack Community College.

Tom held many volunteer leadership positions across the region.  His service has benefitted the ACC Foundation, Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce, American Cancer Society, Glens Falls Hospital Foundation, Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra, Hudson Headwaters Health Network, Operation Santa Claus, Queensbury Economic Development Corp., Queensbury Lions Club, Siena College and United Cerebral Palsy Association of the Tri-Counties.

Tom was a prolific fundraiser, leading some of the largest capital campaigns of the time in the region.  As chairman of the Capital Campaign for the Adirondack Community College Foundation in 1990, he led the $4 million campaign for the college, surpassing the stated goal.   In the early 2000’s, he chaired the Glens Falls Hospital Foundation Capital Campaign, which raised $14 million for the hospital to build what is now known as the Northwest Tower.

A lifelong Red Sox fan, Tom also enjoyed following Boston College athletics and playing golf at the Glens Falls Country Club, where he served 6 years on the Board of Governors.  He was a 30+ year member of the Glens Falls National Bank Regional Development Board and a member of the Siena College Board of Associate Trustees and Board of Trustees.  Tom served 8 years on the board, including the leadership position of President of the Prospect School, UCP of the Tri-Counties as well as the Board of Directors of Hudson Headwaters.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Michele Petit Ross; his son, Michael Ross of San Diego, CA; his brothers, Angelo (Marsha) Ross of Whitehall and Joseph (Linda) of Granville; his sister, Kathleen (Elijah) Harvin of Fayetteville, NC along with many cousins, nephews and nieces. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Colleen (Burke) Ross.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Christopher Hoy, whose expert and compassionate care made a difficult illness so much easier.  The staff at Glens Falls Hospital and the DCI Dialysis Center will always be remembered for their dedication and care.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Tom in a special way may donate to the Glens Falls Hospital Foundation, 126 South St. Glens Falls, NY 12801, he was always thankful to have such wonderful healthcare so close to home. 

Friends may call Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.   

A funeral service will be conducted 5:30 p.m., following the calling hours, at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert Powhida, officiating.

GANSEVOORT – Thomas Harry Brown, 79, of West River Road, passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

Born on May 26, 1942 at Glens Falls Hospital, he was the son of the late Irving LeRoy and Gail Clark Brown.

He was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

At the age of six, Tom accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal savior and has actively served and worked for Him all his life. His favorite scriptures have been John 3:16 and Matthew 5:16.

In June of 1962, Tom married Eva Keech. The couple built their home on Notre Dame Street.

Tom got his first job at the age of 12 delivering papers. He then worked at the Homestead Motel on Route 4. Finally, he held the position of shift supervisor for many years at Scott Paper (Irving Tissue) for 40 years before retiring.

As a teenager, Tom was on the track team and active in the FFA and Gospel Lighthouse Church. Being on a farm, he had raised chickens, calves and pigs and also showed the cows at the Washington County Fair. Tom had always enjoyed the outdoors especially activities such as hunting, fishing and trapping. He had built 5 complete houses and many smaller building/construction projects. He had many hobbies such as working on old cars, boating and skiing on Lage George, and swimming with his buddies at Red Bridge on the Feeder Canal – all while being involved in many church functions and activities.

Tom was a loving husband and caring father of four children.  He loved spending time with his family in the summer, boating and water skiing on Lake George and winters were spent snowmobiling the trails in the Adirondacks.  Tom enjoyed being an active part of his family’s life.

In the late 1980’s, he started farming with the purchase of 6 Herefords, took over his father-in-law’s farm on West River Road and increased the herd to 50. In 2005, he built a home on the farm where he and his wife presently live. In 2002, he began traveling after purchasing a 5^thwheel camper.

As an adult, he continued to be very active in all church functions as well as serving as deacon/council member. Presently, he is a member of the Calvary Family Life Center of Glens Falls. Beyond all the busyness of life, his daily goal was to be a witness of the love of Jesus Christ to everyone he encountered.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Winifred Hodges, Robert Brown and Linda Brown.

Survivors include his children, Pamela Schelkun and her husband, Robert of Milan, M.I., Ruth Brady and her husband, Chris of Malta, Janet Brown and her companion Shawn O’Dell, of Lacona and Thomas Brown and his wife, Ashley of Johnston, I.A.; four very special grandchildren, who he loved dearly, Karen Yelland and her husband, Joel of South Lyon, M.I., Kevin Schelkun of Milan, M.I., Wyatt Brown of Johnston, I.A. and Taylor Brown of Johnston, I.A.; his brother, Daniel Brown and his wife, Sharon of Hudson Falls; his brothers-in-law, David Hodges of Florida and Edward Keech of Holmes; his sister-in-law, Carol Huestis and her husband, Al of Webster, F.L.; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, July 28. 2021, from 10 to 11 am at the Calvary Family Life Center, 100 Sherman Ave, Glens Falls.

Memorial services will follow the calling hour at 11 a.m. at the church.

Burial will follow at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – David S. Blackmer, Sr., of South Glens Falls, passed away unexpectedly, due to medical complications, on his 55^th birthday, at the Glen Falls Hospital, on July 19, 2021.

Family and friends are welcome to a gathering from 3 to 6 pm, on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the Harry J. Betar, Jr. Recreational Park, 19 Jan Ave. in the town of Moreau.

GLENS FALLS – Darlene M. Beahan, 76, of Edgewater Place, passed away peacefully July 14, 2021, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on September 10, 1944 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Madaline (Crandall) Combs.

Darlene was a graduate of Glens Falls High School and continued her education at Adirondack Community College, receiving her Associates Degree in Accounting.

For over 20 years, she was employed at Sears in the Aviation Mall.  Following Sears, Darlene had worked for the United States government in the IRS and Immigration departments.  

She loved to read and go to plays throughout the area and in New York City.  Darlene was an avid traveler, having visited many countries in Europe and also enjoyed taking cruises with her friends.   She had a great passion for her perennial flower gardens.

The most important part of Darlene’s life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Darlene was predeceased by her brother, Lowell Combs.

Survivors include her two daughters, Beth Beahan of Glens Falls and Stephanie Jarvis and her husband, Scott of Lake Luzerne; her three grandchildren, Matthew Cowles and his wife, Kate, Anthony Cowles and his wife, Leigha and Morgan Cottrell and her husband, Chris; her great grandchildren, Sonny Cowles, Scarlett Cowles, Ethan Cowles and Thomas Cowles; her sister, Rose Potter and her husband, Terry of Fort Ann and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be conducted 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

QUEENSBURY – Sally Marie Wilson, 73, of Queensbury, passed away unexpectedly on July 13, 2021.

Born October 8, 1947 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Helen Labruzzo. She was a Hudson Falls High School alumna.

Sally spent over 30 years with Niagara Mohawk in Glens Falls and Warrensburg.   During her many years at NiMo Sally made many life-long friends that will miss her dearly. 

Sally loved her time in Florida, walking the beach and collecting the most beautiful seashells. Her greatest pleasures were her daughter, Jennifer and her granddaughter, Lilyauna.  She was Jennifer’s and Lilyauna’s biggest fans in everything they did.  She would love to watch her granddaughter dance and play field hockey.  Sally and her granddaughter enjoyed shopping and watching Criminal Minds together.   She loved to talk on the phone and would make her daily phone call to everyone.  She would never miss a birthday wish to her friends and family.  Sally was the matriarch of the family being the oldest of 9 children.  Always concerned for others, she was the glue that held our family together.   Known as “Primp” by her siblings, we will miss her nervous energy and weather updates.

Besides her parents, Sally was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony and Michael Labruzzo; her beloved aunts and uncles; her oldest friend, Kathy Paquette and her beloved fur babies, Buffer and Auggie. 

Left to cherish her memories is her only child, her daughter, Jennifer Carusone and husband Peter; her beloved granddaughter, Lilyauna Marie; her sister Bonnie Labruzzo and partner Jerry; her siblings, Gary Labruzzo and Elena Crocitto, Salvatore and his wife, Diane Labruzzo, Thomas Labruzzo, Patty Chiaravalle and Patrick and his wife, Carollee Labruzzo; her soul sister, Deborah Williams as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friends and neighbors that she considered family.

Friends may call, Tuesday, July 20, 2021, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m., on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow the mass, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

HUDSON FALLS – Thomas M. Miller, 68, a lifelong resident of Hudson Falls, passed away July 11, 2021 at Glens Falls Hospital, with his family by his side.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

QUEENSBURY – Nancy G. Allen of Queensbury,  August 21, 1947  – July 10, 2021.    It is with great sadness that we announce that Nancy, a beloved wife, mother, Mema, and friend, passed away at her home, after a gallant fight with cancer.

She was the daughter of George E. and Agnes E. Goodwin of Hubbardton, Vermont.

Nancy graduated from Fair Haven High School in Fair Haven, Vermont in June 1965.  She went on to be a nurse’s aide at Rutland Hospital and worked at her parents’ store/restaurant for years before her marriage to John Allen.  Nancy was a Navy wife for two years and raised three sons.

She  would like to be remembered as caring and thoughtful.   Nancy was dedicated to and adored her sons and grandsons.   She loved to read, shop, sit by the pool in the summer, go out to dinner, enjoy her flower gardens, but most of all, spend time with her family, especially her grandsons.  Nothing brought her more joy than watching them grow and attending all their special events.   Nancy was their biggest cheerleader and fan.

She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Marie Durfee (Jim) of Middletown, Vermont.

Survivors include her husband John, and sons, John Jr., of Eugene, Oregon, Michael of Central Point, Oregon and Mark (Sheree) and the light of her life, grandsons Skyler and Kyan of Queensbury. She also leaves behind two nephews, Daniel and Christopher Durfee and a beloved niece, Anne Marie Mahar.

At the wishes of Nancy, there will be no calling hours or services.

GREENFIELD CENTER – Vernon Richard “Rick” Palmer, 63, of Greenfield Center, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 3, 2021. 

Born on February 3, 1958 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Vernon and Jean Palmer. He attended South Glens Falls High School.

Rick was a fun and outgoing guy, who could crack a joke in any situation. He was a hard worker and spent most of his life working in the janitorial field. Rick was the happiest when he was outdoors riding around on his four-wheeler and snowmobile with his kids. He spent his days off just tinkering around in the garage. Rick enjoyed watching wrestling, old movies and listening to “good old tunes”, as he would say.

Unfortunately, Rick had a stroke 2 years ago and has suffered with declining health issues since. He spent his remaining days happily living life his way with his very good friend of 40 years, David Ash and Wendy Seney.

Rick is survived by his 6 children, Shawn Palmer and his wife, April of Saratoga Springs, Jason Palmer and his wife, Danielle of Watervliet, Jeffrey Palmer and his wife, Jenn of West Lebanon NH, Brittany Palmer and Donald Palmer, both of Littleton, NH and Jonathan Palmer of Saratoga Springs; his 9 grandchildren, Tyler, Evan, Kody, Parker, Max, Blakeley, Ava, Sophie and Araya; as well as his 2 sisters, Laurie Reiter and her husband, Clarence of Warsaw, NY and Gloria Cole of Glens Falls, NY.

Friends may call, Tuesday, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

A graveside service will be held, following the calling hours, Tuesday, at Southside Cemetery in Glens Falls.
