HUDSON FALLS – Robert “Bob” L. Cowles, 83, formerly of Pine Street, went into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Glens Falls Center.
Born on September 15, 1935 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Darius and Adeline (Baker) Cowles.
Bob was very proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957.
On July 23, 1995, he married the love of his life Ruth Cirino. They were married for 12 wonderful years before her death on September 24, 2007.
For many years, Bob was a cook in the Glens Falls area, having once worked at Harold’s Country Kitchen on Ridge Street in Glens Falls. He also was employed at Palette Inc. and General Electric, both in Fort Edward.
Bob loved hiking the Adirondacks with his family and also fishing in area lakes. He was a master at creating fishing flies for all to enjoy and hopefully catch some fish.
Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Richard Cowles, his two nephews, Brian Cowles and Thomas Cowles, his niece, Donna Byrd and his sister in law, Betty Cowles.
Survivors include his sisters in law, Sandra Cowles of Hudson Falls and Helen Sullivan and her husband, Neil of Argyle; his brother in law, Richard Cirino and his wife, Margo of Lake George; his nieces and nephews, Richard, Jeff and David Cowles, Pamela Cutler, James, Daniel, Kevin and Susan Cowles, Patrick Sullivan and Thomas Sullivan; and several cousins.
Friends may call on Monday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Glens Falls Cemetery on Bay Street in Glens Falls, with full military honors.
The family suggests that donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
I am deeply sorry for your loss. Bob has a very special place in my heart. I am blessed to have gotten to know him, to have broken his tough shell, to earn his trust, and to have experienced the love in his heart.
