Lawrence D. LaPlanche, Sr

FORT EDWARD – Lawrence D. LaPlanche, Sr, 76 of Fort Edward, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at Glens Falls Hospital after a brief illness.

Born on March 9, 1947 in Glens Falls, he lived in the area his entire life and was the son of the late Bernice (Fuller) and Ernest LaPlanche, Sr. Lawrence attended school in South Glens Falls and enlisted in the military, only to be medically discharged from boot camp early on.

Lawrence was a carpenter and woodworker for many years. Prior to his retirement, he drove a bulk mail truck for 15 years for several municipal Post Offices in Washington County. Lawrence was a talented mechanic in his earlier years and was always fixing something. He loved to cook for friends at some of the local bars and he was a life-long fisherman. Lawrence had a giving spirit and often made donations to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Karen Loveland; and three brothers, Joe, Frank, and Terry LaPlanche.

He is survived by his son, Lawrence D. LaPlanche, Jr. and his fiancé, Danielle Abbenante; a brother, Ernest LaPlanche, Jr.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Southside Cemetery in South Glens Falls at a later date.
