Mary Agnes (Bruce) Brunelle

HUDSON FALLS – Mary Agnes (Bruce) Brunelle, born July 20, 1939, went home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2019, after a brief illness.

She grew up in Fort Edward, N.Y. and attended South Glens Falls Schools. She later married Roger Durkin, and then Oliver Brunelle. Mary was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary with the Hudson Falls and South Glens Falls Fire Departments over the years. She spent most of her married life as a home maker, taking care of delinquent teenagers. She lived her later years in Garner, N.C., where she last worked in the Bakery of Krogers before retiring. Mary’s hobbies include bingo and puzzles such as crosswords and sudoku.

Mary’s predeceased include her father, Hugh Bruce; Mother, Rose Marie (Ives) Bruce; and youngest brother, Keith Bruce.

Mary is survived by her siblings; Patricia Henry (Paul), Willard Bruce (Cindy), Robert Bruce (Linda), Thomas Bruce, Dale Baldwin, Dwight Bruce (Geneva), Betty Jane Bruce, Richard Bruce, Timothy Bruce (Crystal), Hugh Bruce, Grace Wilson, Johnny Bruce and Rose Ormsby (Don).

Also, by her children; Deborah Rose Witherell (Dave) of Fort Edward, Patricia McDougall of Queensbury, Roger Durkin (Victoria) of South Glens Falls; Edward Durkin (Karen) of Queensbury, Kelly Durkin (fiancé Joe Schwenk) of Hudson Falls, Sharon Ruff (Geoffrey) of Fort Edward; including 8 step-children. Grandchildren; Travis Partyka (Yoly), Courtney Baker (Kevin), Edward McDougall, Jr. (fiancé Ashley Schusteritsch), Jennifer Malley (Nate), Eric Durkin, Kevin Durkin, Jennifer Vaughn, Tiffany Durkin, Daniel Carpenter (Brittany), Devon Carpenter (Morgan), Joshua Ruff, Patrick Ruff (fiancé Heaven Leigh), and Isabel Ruff; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors in the ICU at Glens Falls Hospital – they are all very sweet and their compassion did not go unnoticed.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Service will be held, following the calling hours, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday April 23, 2019 with Father Thomas Babiuch, officiating.

A Graveside Service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
