Jane Y. Rinfret

rinfretHUDSON FALLS – Jane Y. Rinfret, 98, formerly of North Oak St., died Tuesday January 2, 2017, at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, MA.

Born on January 17, 1918 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Anthony J. (d. 1957) and Lillian A. (Weatherwax) Rinfret (d. 1925).

From 1927, Jane made her home with the Edward J. Shanahan family in Hudson Falls.

She graduated from Hudson Falls High School and NYS University at Cortland, where she received a BA, MA and 15 additional post graduate credit hours.

Jane’s teaching career in Hudson Falls began at St. Mary’s School, where she taught second grade for two and a half years.  For 38 and a half years, she taught at Margaret M. Murphy Elementary School in Hudson Falls. For the first 25 of those years, Jane was a kindergarten teacher, and then a first grade teacher for the remainder of her teaching career.

Jane was an active member in many professional associations, throughout her career and after her retirement, including: the Tri-County Teacher’s Association, The NYS Retired Teacher’s Association, The N.E.A., the AARP, the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Hyde Collection’s Volunteer Council.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, where she was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Mater Dei Council # 1442.

Her enjoyments included traveling, baby-sitting and reading.

Survivors include her cousin, James McColl and his wife, Candance of Ballston Spa; their son, James McColl and his wife, Lynn of Saratoga Springs; Barbara Shanahan of Syracuse; Robert Shanahan and his wife, Linda of Cumming, GA.; and her longtime companion, Connie Dodge of Hartford.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will be in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Burgoyne Ave. in the town of Fort Edward.

Jane’s family suggests that memorials be made to the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Inc., P. O. Box 226, Fort Edward, NY 12828 or the St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, 11 Wall St., Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

 

Helen Beagle

GANSEVOORT – Helen Beagle, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on December 27, 2016.
She was born on July 11, 1922 to the late Cora and Albert Hoffman.
Helen was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her home was the place where her family always gathered. Everyone loved to go to “Mom’s”, “Gram’s”, and “Nana’s” house.
Helen had an abiding faith in God and was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church. She loved to read her bible and listen to music.

Helen was predeceased by sisters, Iona Lawler, Lillian St. Peter, Eleanor Gibson, and Winnifred Hoffman, and brother, Ernest Aldous.
Helen is survived by her husband, Richard Beagle; daughters, Linda (Lawrence) Kutcher and Donna (Thomas) Conley; grandchildren, Lawrence (Wendy) Kutcher, Amie (Jeffrey) Tollison, and Staci (Douglas) Talkington; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jessica Brower, Colton Weatherwax, and Grayson and Ellora Talkington; and several other family members.

Viewing will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2016 at 10am at the Gospel Lighthouse Church, 30 La Cross St, Hudson Falls, followed by a service at 11am, and burial at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 1pm.

Roland A. Ouellette

ouellete-rolandFORT EDWARD- Roland A. Ouellette, 79 of Burgoyne Avenue, passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side, on Friday, December 30, 2016 at The Pines in Glens Falls.

Born on April 23, 1937 in Caribou, Maine, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Gertrude (Taylor) Ouellette.  Roland grew up in Maine and graduated from high school there.

He was a very proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country as a driver and medic from 1958 to 1960.  He lived his life as an American patriot and also was a dedicated member of the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574.

On May 31, 1964, Roland married the love of his life, Carol Washburn.  They enjoyed 34 wonderful years together before her passing away February 27, 1999.

Roland was employed as a Union Laborer through Local 186 out of Plattsburg for 30 years.  He worked on several local building projects including the Adirondack Northway, the Glens Falls Civic Center and the Niagara Mohawk Hydroelectric Dam.  Prior to joining the Union in 1961, he worked with his brother, Richard on the Atlas Missile sites.

In addition to the American Legion, he was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #81 and supported many local charities.

He had a great faith in the Lord throughout his life.  And, he was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

He loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time with them.  Roland loved every minute spent with his grandsons and especially winning a game of checkers against the boys. As an animal lover, he cared for many pets over his years and more recently he liked to pet-sit family dogs and those of his friends.   Roland also was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching figure skating and loved to dance.  At every wedding, he was the first to get up and dance and the last to sit down.   Roland enjoyed the company and visits of friends and family.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Roger and Norbert Ouellette; his daughter in law, Linda L. Ouellette; and his brothers in law, Reggie Mayo and Joe Lewis.

Survivors include his children, Kim Ouellette of Florida and Linda Burch and her husband, Brian of Argyle; his grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Gabriel and Luke Burch; his brother, Richard Ouellette and his wife, Joan of Warrensburg; three sisters, Nola Mayo of Florida, Nancy Lewis of Colorado and Norma Jean Hermanson and her husband, David of Tennessee; a sister in law, Gladys Washburn of South Glens Falls; and several much loved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 9 to 10 A.M. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Thursday, following the calling hour, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park in Hudson Falls.

Roland’s pallbearers will be his son, Kim Ouellette, his grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Burch, and his nephews, Norman Ouellette, Chad Mayo and Todd Ash.

Following the Mass, everyone is welcome to McManus Hall, next to the church, to share memories of Roland.

Burial will be in the spring, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward, where he will be laid to rest, with full military honors, next to his beloved wife.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Hudson Falls American Legion, Post 574, 72 Pearl Street, Hudson Falls, NY  12839.

Janice A. Barot

Janice ”Jan” (Cartier) Barot
HUDSON FALLS – Jan Barot, 80, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016, at The Pines in Glens Falls, with her son, Ed and his wife, Lori at her side.

Born on August 13, 1936, in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Beatrice (Betters) Cartier.

She married George Andrew Barot at St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, on October 22, 1955.

Jan graduated from Fort Ann Central School in 1955.  She was a hard worker all her life, having been raised on a dairy farm in Fort Ann.  On the morning of her wedding day, Jan got up at 5:00 a.m., went to the barn to milk 18 cows and still managed to get to the church on time.  She worked as a seamstress at Troy Shirt Guild and Gruber’s Maternity Dress Factory.

Sewing was a lifetime passion, beginning in high school.  Jan was crowned Junior Prom Queen in a beautiful gown that she made herself.   Whenever friends and family needed a seamstress, they knew who to ask. Jan also worked at Sherwood Medical in Argyle for 19 years, retiring in 1998.  It was a short retirement, however, as she soon became an attendant on school buses for special needs children in the Hudson Falls School District.    She loved the children and was known as “Grandma Jan”.

Some hobbies Jan enjoyed were bowling, gardening, yardwork and decorating.

Above all, Jan was a loving wife, mother, mother in law, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was devoted to her family and friends and was always there when anyone needed her.

In addition to her parents, Jan was predeceased by her youngest child, Brian Paul Barot, who passed away in November 1979 and by her sister, Marlene Scally, who passed away in August 2016.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, George A. Barot; her daughters, Valerie (Jeff) Zeno and Vanessa Ross; her sons, George Andrew, Jr. (Suzanne) Barot and Edward E. (Lori) Barot; her six grandchildren, Jason (Kate) Zeno, Jeffrey (Anna) Zeno, George A. (Ladyne) Barot, III, Christy (Aaron) Coulson, Jamie Zeno and her life partner, Joseph Derway and Brieanne Ross; her step grandson, Jason (Jennifer) Cross; eight great grandchildren, Joseph, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Abigail and Morgan Zeno, Ryan and Logan Cross and Haley Straut; three brothers, Andrew (Ruth) Cartier, Gary (Brenda) Cartier and Duane (Kendra) Cartier; three sisters, Regina (James) Thomas, Donna (the late Gordon) Bell and Gail (Fausto) Tello; her brother in law, Charles Scally; two sisters in law, Sheila (Albert) Brownell and Mary (Charles) Fuller; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to thank the Glens Falls Hospital Emergency Room Doctors, Nurses and the staff on Tower 6, as well as the Doctors, PA’s, Nurses, CNA’s, and the rehab staff at the Pines, for the care and respect they gave to Jan and her family.

Services will be private.

Burial will be in the spring at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

The family suggests that memorial donations be given to any local organization of your choice.

Patricia Ann LaMoy

KINGSBURY- Patricia A. (Waite) LaMoy was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on December 29, 2016, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born July 19, 1942 to Margaret L. (Trackey) Waite and Lawrence H. Waite.

Pat grew up in Queensbury, graduating high school in 1960. She married Eugene F. “Frank” LaMoy on April 8, 1960. As teenagers, Frank and Pat worked together at the Rialto Theatre in Glens Falls. He worked as an usher, while she served at the concession stand selling candy.

Pat and Frank raised their children together, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and memories to last a lifetime. On weekends, Pat enjoyed going to her cousin’s camp on Lake Champlain with her family, often rescuing turtles stranded in the middle of the road. Pat was the leader of Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4H when her children were younger and traveled all over the area supporting area high school basketball players. When her oldest children were in school she was very active in the PTA and was given a lifetime achievement award.

Pat worked for RGIS Inventory Services for many years and provided care for the elderly for over twenty years as a home health aide. She was devoted to meeting the needs of others, caring for people, as if they were part of her own family.

Knitting, quilting, researching genealogy, tending to her rock and flower garden, were some of Pat’s many hobbies. She served on the altar guild and vestry at church, and belonged to the Daughters of the King. Pat spent countless hours setting up the church for different events, making the rooms beautiful for others. She had an amazing amount of faith and did everything with so much love and dedication that one could not picture it done any other way. Pat made the best of everything and had a gift for always seeing the good in everyone.

The majority of her life she spent fondly taking care of her children and grandchildren. She developed a special bond with each family member, cheering and encouraging all on in their endeavors.

In addition to her husband, Pat was predeceased by her dear cousin, Shirley (Ronk) Houle; who was more of a sister than a cousin.

Those left to honor her memory include her children; daughter, Elizabeth (Donald) Hewitt, son, Frank LaMoy, daughter, Stacia (Robert) Bonanno, son, Jason (Connie) LaMoy; sister, Pamela (Dean) Romer, sister-in-law, Jane (Richard) Choquette; special cousins, Joan (David) LaPier and Bud (Dianne) Graham, grandchildren, Grant (Leslie) LaMoy, Dan (Holly) Hewitt, Matthew Hewitt, David Hewitt, Ryan Hewitt, Felicia Bonanno, Anthony Bonanno, Corey LaMoy, Parker Gugliotta, Nathan Bonanno, Adam Bonanno, Gianna LaMoy, Ivie LaMoy, Jett LaMoy; and 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces, a nephew and cousins.

Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, at Carleton Funeral Home, (68 Main St. Hudson Falls, (518) 747-4243) with a 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial following the calling hours, at Church of the Messiah, 296 Glen St., Glens Falls, with Fr. Karl Griswold-Kuhn officiating.

Burial will be in the spring at Moss Street Cemetery, Route 4 in the town of Kingsbury.

The family requests donations be made to a charity of his or her own choice.

Special thanks to Dr. John Stoutenburg, and Dr. Joseph D’Agostino Jr. for the wonderful care, and compassion given to Pat and her family.

 

 

 

Gary L. Bolster, Sr.

LAKE GEORGE – Gary L. Bolster, Sr., 62, of Lake George, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016, at his home.

Born on April 9, 1954, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Gerald and Helen (Rowe) Bolster.

Gary served in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army for 18 years.

He was a member of the Warrensburg Masonic Lodge. He loved to research his ancestry. He enjoyed wild life rehabilitation. He and his grandson Dru enjoyed hockey at the Glens Falls Civic center. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife of 41 years, Chiara (Derecko) Bolster of Lake George; his three sons, Gary Bolster, Jr., Jeremy Bolster, and Richard Bolster; his grandchildren, Dru, Avery, Kyleigh, and Samuel; his brothers and sisters, Richard, Jean, David, Judy, and Donna; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends are invited to call on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located at 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial with full military honors will take place on January 6, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Gerald B. H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, in Stillwater.

Jennifer Lynn Traver

traver-jenniferHUDSON FALLS – Jennifer Lynn Traver, 41, of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness, at University of Vermont Medical Center on December 26, 2016.

Born January 13, 1975, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Catherine (Blakeman) Traver of Hudson Falls and the late Denis Traver.

Jennifer was a graduate of the College of St. Rose with a bachelor’s degree.

She was an employee of C.R. Bard for several years.

Jennifer enjoyed hunting, kayaking, and fishing with her significant other David Gibbs. Most of all, her first love was hockey with her son Connor.

In addition to her father, Jennifer was predeceased by her grandparents.

Survivors include, her mother, Catherine Traver of Hudson Falls; her son, Connor of Hudson Falls; her brother, Daniel Traver and his wife, Janice of Maryland and their children, Adison and Nathan; and her sister, Michelle Traver of Hudson Falls and her daughter, Maggie; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home. Inc. located at 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

A funeral service will take place immediately following calling hours at the funeral home at 3 p.m. with Pastor John Chamberlin, Senior’s Pastor at Calvary Assembly in Glens Falls.

A burial will take place in the spring at Moss Street Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Clarence “Tink” Kelley

kelley-cHUDSON FALLS – Clarence “ Tink” Kelley , 83, of County Route 41, Notre Dame Street Extension, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016

Born on October 27, 1933 in Hudson Falls, he was the son the late Howard and Lucy (Greene) Kelley.

Clarence was proud to have served his country in the United States Navy. Following his discharge, he married Lois Bartlett on December 26, 1952 at the Christ Methodist Church in Glens Falls.

He was employed by General Electric and then at Ciba Geigy for over 22 years. After leaving Ciba Geigy, Clarence continued his education at State University at Cobleskill as a butcher.   He worked at the Grand Union in various local stores as a butcher and more recently, was employed at Continuous Care.

Clarence enjoyed hunting and fishing all over the Adirondacks. He loved playing his guitar, especially playing with area musicians at local nursing homes.  Clarence loved to entertain with his music.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed.  Clarence was an honorable man, respected by everyone that met him.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his three brothers, Miles Kelley, Eugene Kelley, and Walter Kelley, as well as his sister, Beatrice Beckwith, and his grandson, Richard Kelley.

Survivors include, his wife of 64 years, Lois Kelley of Hudson Falls; his three children, Howard Kelley and his wife, Karen, of Hudson Falls, Kathleen Sweet and her companion, Brook Waters of Lake luzernend Darrin Kelley of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren, Howard Kelley, Jr., Angela Kelley, Jeremy Kelley, Charles Passno, Dina Passno, Shawn Sweet, Lucy Sweet, Darrin Kelley, Jr. and Breanna Kelley; several great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Gerald B. H. Soloman – Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Rose M. Hodgkins

HUDSON FALLS – Rose M. Hodgkins, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 10, 1929 in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Addiego and Julia (DeMonico) Giacobone.

Rose graduated from Hudson Falls Senior High School in 1947, and on June 17, 1951, she married Austin Walker Hodgkins of North Granville. Rose shared 47 and a half years of happiness with Austin, until his passing on January 18, 1999.

For ten years, she was employed in the office at J.E. Sawyers in Glens Falls, retiring to raise her son.

Her faith was very important to her.  Rose was very religious and said the rosary every day, sometimes even saying it two or three times a day. She also liked to pray for the souls in purgatory. Her favorite prayer was “Jesus, Mary, I love you, save souls.”   She felt very close to the Lord and also felt she was truly blessed.

Survivors include her son, Edward H. Hodgkins and wife, Michelle of Glens Falls; two grandchildren, Randy Hodgkins and his wife, Jessica of Comstock, and Kayla Gregory and her husband, Derek of Hudson Falls; her step-grandchildren, Carrie Smith, Derrick, Joseph and Anthony Burch; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Austin Hodgkins and Rilee Haven Hodgkins of Comstock; two sisters, Antoinette “Anne” Giacobone and Tresa Madonna, both of Hudson Falls; her brother-in-law, Leonard Hodgkins of Morehead City, NC; and her nieces and nephew, Julie Madonna-Morris and her husband, Clayton of South Glens Falls, Donna Latimer of San Antonio, TX, Rosemary Madonna-Swinton and her husband, Leslie of South Glens Falls, Lisa Pangburn and her husband, Glenn of Morehead City, NC, and John Hodgkins and his wife, Sonia of Elizabeth City, NC; great nieces Melissa Latimer and Juliana Morris; and her great nephew Michael V. Latimer.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2016, at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s church, on the park in Hudson Falls with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal, in St. Mary’s Cemetery, in the town of Fort Edward, will take place in the spring.

Memorial donations in Rose’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Rose’s family would like to give special thanks to Fort Hudson Health System,  Homeward Bound and Hospice for their extremely kind and caring help they provided during this difficult time.  They also would like to warmly thank all the special people who gave their time to assist so that the family could continue to go to their special functions (they know who they are!).

Herbert E. Schooley

schooleyHUDSON FALLS – Herbert E. Schooley, 87, a longtime Hudson Falls resident, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016, at the Stanton Healthcare and Rehab Center in Queensbury.

Born on March 5, 1929, in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late Herbert and Effie (Gee) Schooley.

Herbert attended Hudson Falls High School and served with the United States Army during the Korean War.

His wife, Vivian (Coltey) Borden Schooley passed away in 1989.

He had a passion for automobiles beginning as a teen working in his father’s garage. This life-long passion continued throughout his career and ending with doing small engine repair. He also enjoyed fishing and cooking.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Alice Gray; a brother-in-law, Thomas Gray; a step daughter, Patricia Bezio; and a step-son, Herman “Skip” Borden.

He is survived by a step-daughter, Gladys Monahan of Hudson Falls; a step-son, Ralph Borden and his wife, Mary of Hudson Falls; a niece, Allison Paulzak and her husband, Michael of Florida; a niece Marion Leombruno and her husband, Thomas of Lake George; and several other nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

There are no calling hours.

A graveside service will take place at a time to be announced, in the spring, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

Herbert’s family would like to thank the staff at The Holbrook Adult home for the wonderful way they helped him in his rehabilitation, each day boosting his spirits. Thanks also go to the staff of Tower Six at Glens Falls Hospital, and to the staff at The Stanton Healthcare and Rehab for all they did in making Herbert as comfortable as possible.  They would like to thank Andy DePalo of the Washington County Veteran’s Service agency for his dedicated assistance to Herbert and family.

His family also suggests that memorial donations in his memory be made to the Veteran’s Agency of one’s choice or the Holbrook Adult Home Patient Activity Fund, 73 North St., Granville, NY 12832

William J. Bordeau

QUEENSBURY – William J. Bordeau, 79, of the Boulevard, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on July 3, 1937, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Loretta Bordeau.

William was a graduate of Glens Falls High School in 1955. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and remained active until 1961. William was a very patriotic man, who loved serving his country.

William was united in marriage to Kay Alden in 1996 and they shared 20 wonderful years together.

He was employed by Doty Machines in Fort Edward. William truly enjoyed the people he worked with and was also able to use his creative talents.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his two brothers, and his sister.

Survivors include his loving wife, Kay Bordeau of Queensbury; his son, Douglas Bordeau; two brothers, Sanford Bordeau and Edward Bordeau and his wife, Donna; his sister, Sharon Havens and her husband, Robert; step-children, Jack McDonald and his wife, Lisa, Michael McDonald and his wife, Bonnie, Mark McDonald and his wife, Kim and Bill McDonald; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be private.

A burial will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery in the spring.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.

FORT EDWARD – Jody Lynn Pond, 47, of Washington Street, went into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, December 17, 2016.

Friends may call on Wednesday, December 28, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m., following the calling hours on Wednesday, at the funeral home, with Reverend Flossie Gage-Bates, officiating.

HUDSON FALLS – Michael D. Oliver, 68, of Pearl Street, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Bay State Medical in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Born June 4, 1948, in Middlebury, VT, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Yolan (Tiber) Oliver.

Michael was a graduate from Middlebury, VT, High School and soon after joined the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country and then continued his education at Castleton State College and St. Michael’s College, both in Vermont. Michael graduated with an Associates Degree from SUNY Adirondack.

He was joined in marriage to JoEllen Sherman on July, 1, 1977, at the First Baptist Church in Fair Haven, Vt.

Michael was employed many years as a carpenter for Giancola Construction in Rutland, VT, and also as a Deputy Sheriff in Rutland County, VT, while at the same time employed by the State of Vermont Department of Corrections. After moving to Pennsylvania, Michael worked for many years as a maintenance mechanic for Empire Kosher, until his retirement.

He was a member of Truthville Baptist Church in Granville, Grace Baptist Church in Whitehall, and First Baptist Church in Mifflintown, PA. Michael volunteered in recent years for Tomorrow’s Hope in Pennsylvania, a homeless shelter for Veterans. Through the years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially loved hunting and fishing with the three generations of his family.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Peter Oliver; his grandson, Isaiah Oliver; and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his loving wife of almost 40 years, JoEllen Oliver of Hudson Falls; his children, Christopher Artiga-Oliver and his wife, Connie, Aaron Oliver and his wife, Beverly, Kate Mu, Asa Oliver and his significant other, Ukiah Spencer, and Kaela Baumgardner and her husband, Vincent; his 12 grandchildren: Sahara, Nico, and Lilu Artiga-Oliver, Ethan Oliver, Tyler Mu, Devonn, Faith, Airian and Ezra Oliver, Nathaniel Oliver, Isabelle and Levi Baumgardner, and many others he considered to be part of his family; one sister, Ruth Berger of Vermont; his special Uncle Bob and Aunt Peg Oliver of Vermont; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services for Michael will be private.
