William F. “Koop” Koopmann

KoopmannQUEENSBURY – William F. “Koop” Koopmann, 60, currently of Moss Street in Hudson Falls, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on May 30, 1953, in Ossining, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick and Valerie (Belina) Koopmann.

William was a graduate of Queensbury Union Free School and later worked in the commercial sales department at Lowes in Queensbury.

He loved classic cars, including his award winning 1976 Stingray Corvette.  William enjoyed watching NASCAR and tinkering with electronics.  He spent many hours monitoring Ham radios and listening to weather updates.  William was a classic rock fan, stemming from his younger years when he was in a rock band.

Survivors include his soul mate, Judy Centerbar of Hudson Falls; his two sons, Scott Koopmann and his wife, Krystal of Chestertown and Nick Koopmann and his girlfriend, Mandie Baker of Hartford; his four grandchildren, Kaylee Koopmann, Lily Koopmann, Bradley Koopmann and Cole Koopmann; his two sisters, Joanie Irving of Queensbury and Kay Shimonek and her husband, Fred of Corsicana, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours and graveside services at PineView Cemetery will be private.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the CR Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
