William “Bill” McGovern, Sr.

McGovern, WilliamSOUTH GLENS FALLS- William “Bill” McGovern, Sr., of South Glens Falls, passed away on Saturday September 23, 2017.

Born on October 7, 1950 in New York City, he was the son of the late Thomas and Helen (LeBright) McGovern, Sr.

Bill’s younger years were spent in Manhattan, until his family moved to Glens Falls.    At that point, he resided on Crandall Street in Glens Falls, where Bill attended Glens Falls High School.

He worked for many years at SCA Tissue, previously known as James River, and Patrician Paper Co. in South Glens Falls. Bill enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and friends on road trips to Atlantic City, watching football games, and days at the Saratoga Race Course.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Thomas McGovern, Jr.

Survivors include his children, William McGovern, Jr. and his companion, Stacey LaFountain of Glens Falls, Patricia McGovern of Queensbury and Dan McGovern and his wife, Annette Parisi of Saratoga Springs; his grandchildren, Gage Fuller of Massachusetts and Matthew McGovern of Corinth; his sister in law, Deborah McGovern of Saratoga Springs; his nieces+, Katie McGovern and her husband, Michael Schin of Saratoga Springs and Shannon McGovern of Queensbury; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are scheduled for Friday, September 29, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.  at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Burial will be at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.

Bill’s family suggests that memorial donations in his memory to be made to the Moreau Emergency Squad Inc. at 1583 U.S. 9, Fort Edward, NY 12828.

    I’m shocked! This is his long lost niece Stacey from Tennessee. I’m sad to see your gone on to the afterlife before I could had met you one more time. Your with my dad Tom! Nanny and poppy. I can’t Waite to be with you all for eternity.They can’t take that from us! I hope to be with you in heaven one day.
