Wendyn S. “Winn” Schult

COSSAYUNA LAKE – Wendyn S. “Winn” Schult, 91, formerly of Cossayuna Lake, passed away on his birthday, with his son, Roy, at his side on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility in the town of Fort Edward.

Born on January 3, 1925 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Louis and Sylva (Spaulding) Schult.

Following his graduation from high school in Schenectady, Winn enlisted in the United States Navy.  After serving his country, in 1948 he married Helen Wedekind.  They were married for 69 years.

Winn was the owner and operator of Schult’s Plumbing and Heating in Glens Falls until his retirement.  He enjoyed spending time with his numerous pets, including his cat, dog and birds.  Winn also enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake George.  While in the service, he played guitar in a band and throughout his life enjoyed playing and listening to guitar music.  A highlight in Winn’s life was meeting Les Paul and sharing their love of music.

Besides his parents, Winn was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Schult.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Helen Schult of Granville; his two sons, Roy Schult and his wife, Lucille of Granville and Gary Schult and his wife, Sandy of Whitehall; ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

There will be no public services.

The family wishes to thank the staff of S wing at Fort Hudson Health Care Facility for the excellent care and love given to Wendyn during his stay.

Memorial donations in memory of Winn may be made to the Fort Hudson Building Fund, 319 Broadway, Fort Edward, New York 12828.

Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, in Hudson Falls.

    We are so sorry to hear about Wendyn and we are sending our deepest sympathies to the family. I have a great picture of your Mom and Dad taken with the family that I have framed on my wall. I (Bonnie) was about two yrs old. I love that picture and look at it often. We are wishing you all the best as can be expected going forward.
