Wendy L. Godfrey

godfreyHUDSON FALLS – Wendy L. Godfrey, 43, of Clark Street, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at her home.

Born on May 6, 1973, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Paul Gitto and the late Beatrice Godfrey.

Wendy was a graduate of Fort Edward High School.

Most recently, she was employed as a caretaker for the elderly. Wendy loved her work and the relationships she formed with the people she assisted. She was a very loving person and a caregiver by nature. When her father was ill, Wendy was his rock. She also took care of her “little bro.” It was Wendy’s nature to be a helper.

Wendy loved her aunt and uncle, Brian and Tracy Godfrey, and cherished their relationship deeply. She spent a great deal of time with them because sadly, Wendy’s mother passed while she was only five years old. It was a great heartbreak for Wendy and she never stopped missing her mother. Wendy loved her family.   She worked hard to turn her life around and her family was deeply proud of her.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.  When Wendy was younger, she was a member of the Fort Edward Rescue Squad.

Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her grandparents, Fred and Charlotte Godfrey and Sylvia “Nana” Gitto; and her godfather, Paul Godfrey.

Wendy is survived by her father, Paul Gitto of Hudson Falls; her three children, Mark Stimpson of Hudson Falls, Korina McConchie of Glens Falls, and Adam McConchie of Massachusetts; her brother, Steven Gitto of Hudson Falls; her cousin, Stephanie Wright of Texas, whom she considered her sister; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. located on 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Following the calling hours, the Rite of Committal will take place at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Fort Edward.

Donations in Wendy’s name can be made to Warren-Washington Association for Mental Health, Inc.  3043 State Route 4, Hudson Falls, NY  12839.
