Thomas “Tom” Lindsey

TOWN OF MOREAU – Thomas “Tom” Lindsey, 76, of the Town of Moreau, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, October 24, 2016.

Born on August 9, 1940, in Lake Luzerne, he was the son of the late Henry and Grace (Carlton) Lindsey.

Tom married Lois Covey on December 17, 1977 in Argyle and shared 39 wonderful years of marriage together.

He spent his career in the automobile industry, starting as a mechanic in his younger years at a Mobil station in Corinth. Tom spent most of his employment working at Airland Auto Parts for over 30 years. He loved working and had his own lawn mower business at Lamplighter Acres. While working at Airland Auto Parts, Tom enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking care of his neighbor’s lawns and snow blowing in the winter.

He liked gardening and puttering outside, around his home. Tom was fond of NASCAR, he especially liked to follow Dale Earnhart and Dale Earnhart Jr. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife to Tennessee, especially Pigeon Forge, where they loved listening to country music. Tom is remembered as a loving husband and a great dad, having a wonderful sense of humor and especially for teaching his children through his own life, about having great work ethic. Tom was a spiritual person who loved his Lord.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his two brothers, Harold and Howard Lindsey; his three sisters, Barbara Waring, Marion Diehl, and Betty Guilder; his grandson, Gary Lindsey; and his daughter in law, Deborah Lindsey.

Survivors include, his loving wife, Lois Lindsey of Moreau; his three children, Richard Lindsey of Corinth, Donald Lindsey and his wife, Jennifer of Moreau, Donna Degener and her husband, Kurt of Porter Corners; his two step children, Kevin Elms of Fort Edward and Keith Elms, also of Fort Edward; his three grandchildren, Taran Wright, Alec Wright, and Dennis Lindsey; two brothers, Douglas Lindsey and Bernard Lindsey and his wife, Linda; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingsbury Seventh-day Adventist Church at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Carleton Funeral Home, Inc.

    I worked with Tom Lindsay at Air-Land auto parts for several years myself..he was a great guy!..we had a funny joke we used to tell
    whenever we saw each other anywhere,,”i found a coin out in the desert..marked 10 B.C. do you think it’s counterfeit ?”
