Theresa M. Mayotte

MayotteHUDSON FALLS – Theresa M. Mayotte, 93, a long time Hudson Falls resident, and most recently of Fort Edward, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015, at her home.

Born on February 22, 1922, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Charlotte (Patterson) Higgins

Theresa was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and for many years served as the manager of the school lunch program for the Hudson Falls school system.

On September 29, 1940, she married Donald R. Mayotte at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hudson Falls.  He passed away September 18, 1990.

She was a member of Tee Bird Country Club, the Hudson Falls Branch of the Glens Falls Hospital Guild where she recently received her 40 years of service pin and also was a member of the “Red Hats.”

Theresa enjoyed skiing, bowling and golfing into her late 80’s. She specially enjoyed time spent with her family.  She had such a love for people and was happy to always leave her friends with a smile.

While living in Queensbury, she attended Our Lady of the Annunciation Church and when in Hudson Falls, she was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her brothers, Charles, Wilfred, Donald and James Higgins and her sister, Kathleen O’Brien.

Survivors include one son, George Mayotte and his wife Nancy of Chesapeake, VA; two daughters, Kathleen Maynes of Syracuse and Susan Whittemore and her husband, Phil, of Queensbury; her six grandchildren Todd Mayotte and his wife Wendy, Amy Mayotte, Sean Costello and his wife Laurie, Eric Costello and his wife Melanie, Sarah Matte and her husband Christopher Ryan Doyle and his companion Sarah Flower; her seven great-grandchildren Alden Mayotte, Isabel Costello, Carter Costello, Drew Costello, Kate Costello, Bailey Matte, Charlotte Doyle; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church, on the park, in Hudson Falls with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

The Rite of Committal will take place at the convenience of the family at St. Paul’s Cemetery on Vaughn Rd in the town of Kingsbury.

Theresa’s family suggests that memorial donations in her memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

Her family would like to thank Dr. Cunningham, Dr. Pillimar, Hospice and Theresa’s aides who gave her such loving care.

I had the pleasure of meeting Theresa a few times, and she and my Nanny would share stories of trips they took when they were younger, giggling like school girls the whole time.     George, Kathy and Susan and family ; I extend my sincere condolences on the passing of Aunt Theresa. She was a delightful lady and a hoot to be around. She was my Mayotte family historian. We would try to see her when Cliff would visit, She would always have a tear in here eyes when we had to leave. A remarkable person. RIP Aunt Theresa.
