Theresa Derby

derbyFORT EDWARD – Theresa Derby, 88, of Fort Edward, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital.

 

She was born on October 6, 1929 in Saratoga, New York, the daughter of the late Edward and Mildred (Swan) Stevens. Her grandmother Pearl, raised Theresa in Vermont until she was three, when she moved to Hudson Falls.

 

Theresa was a cheerleader and graduated top of her class in Hudson Falls in 1947. As a teenager she converted to Catholicism. She loved the church and was a devout Catholic the remainder of her life. She married Robert in 1949; they lived and loved happily together for sixty-eight years. Theresa was an avid reader. She enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing cards with friends.  She and Robert loved traveling, and they spent several years as snowbirds in Florida.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was good to all and feisty to the end.

 

Theresa was predeceased by her parents, four siblings, and her brother-in-law Earl. She is survived by her husband Robert, her loving children Lloyd, Lynn, and Paul; her grandchildren Robert, Julie, Nicholas, Matthew and Lori, and great grandchildren; Jack, Brianna, Sabrina, Kyron, Adam, Jake, Kyle, Lucien, Willow, Austin, Brady, and Alivia. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Fawn and Louise, and brother-in-law Gene.

 

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, November 26, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

 

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 27 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls.

 

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Edward.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 11 Wall St. Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

    Bob and family, I am so sorry I didn’t see your wifes passing in the paper. I’m sure it is hard on you all after you’ve been together so long. As I told you on the phone at least she went fast which is the best way for it to happen. Again I’m sorry I didn’t get to the service I just didn’t see it. sincerely sorry for your loss.
