James William Young

Young, JHUDSON FALLS – James William Young, 76, of 8th Ave, went into the arms of the Lord, on Monday, September 8, 2014, at this home, with his family by his side.

Born on January 16, 1938, in Fort Edward, he was the son of the late William Clarence and Eleanor (Caprood) Young.

James was a 1956 graduate of Hudson Falls High School.

Following his graduation, he served in the US Army from 1956 to 1962. James worked for General Electric Company in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward as a Leader Welder, until his retirement after 35 years of service.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church in Hudson Falls, where he served as an usher, James was a member of the Arthur S. Kiffin, Knights of Columbus, in Hudson Falls, past President of the Olde Saratoga Seniors in Schuylerville and a member of the Wilton Senior Citizens.

James loved to try his luck at the casinos and he loved to play bingo, he worked bingo ant the K of C on Wednesday’s for many years. He loved to travel and go on cruises and fish and hunt. Most of all he loved watching his grandchildren play basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Elizabeth (Robichaud) Young and his sister in law, Patricia Young.

James is survived by his fiancé and caregiver, Barbara VanNess of Hudson Falls; his son, Jamie Young and his wife, Nicole of Fort Edward; his grandchildren, Austin, Makenzie and Jaxon; his brothers, Jack Young and his wife, Janice of South Glens Falls and Michael Young of Hudson Falls; his caregiver, whom he thought of as a sister, Lucy Welden; his sisters in law, Patricia Robichaud and Evelyn Robichaud; his friends and neighbors, Fay Pat and Billy, who was like a son to him; his two dogs Butterscotch and Dixie; his cat Sassy; friends and neighbors, to numerous to mention; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 10 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Church on the park in Hudson Falls.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

Mrs. Margaret E. Young

YoungHUDSON FALLS – Mrs. Margaret E. Young, 84, of John Street, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on October 6, 1928, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Willard J. and Margaret R. (Stewart) Perry.

On November 17, 1946, she married Richard E. Young, Sr., at St. Joseph’s Church in Fort Edward.  Richard passed away on November 15, 2000, after 55 wonderful years of marriage.

Margaret retired from General Electric Company after 44 years of service.  She enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks with her husband and family and bowling in the Mixed Up Couples league for years at B&C Lanes.   Margaret loved traveling with her husband and spending winters in Florida.  She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.  Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William Wright and her sister, Dorothy Taylor.

Survivors include her children, Margaret “Peggy” Woodcock and her husband, Charles of Fort Edward, Richard Young, Jr., and his wife, Clara of Glens Falls, William Young and his wife, Mary of Fort Edward, Penny Therrien and her husband, Richard of Hudson Falls and Candy Pratt and her husband Stanley “Rick” of Queensbury; 13 grandchildren, Charles Woodcock, Jr. and his wife, Deborah, Michael Woodcock, Christine Woodcock, Rachel Frasier, Richard E. Young, III and his wife, Maleah, Thomas Young and his wife, Nikki, Jody Burgess and her husband, Ethan, Kimberly Therrien and her fiancé, Mark McDonald, Michelle Osgood and her husband, Jake, Melissa Therrien and her fiancé, John LaTour, Nichole Rushlow, Lena Stone and her husband, Jeffery and Curtis Pratt; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Rite of Committal will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon – Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater.

Her family wishes to thank Margaret’s caregivers, Gail Chadwick and Margie McKittrick for the wonderful care and love given to our mother through the years.
