HUDSON FALLS – It is with profound sadness, that we mourn the death of Walter E. Scarincio. He bounced into the world on Friday the 13th and left it a richer place because of his life. His boundless energy and love gave us all so many wonderful lasting memories. Walter died unexpectedly, Monday afternoon on October 13, 2014, with his wife by his side. There will be an empty place in all of our hearts as we go on without him.
Born on May 13, 1927, in Albany, he was the son of the late Erminio and Louise (Cunningham) Scarincio.
Walter was proud of his military service, during World War II, in the United States Navy. He was in charge of a LCVP Personnel Landing Craft. His task was to make sure troops and equipment landed safely on shore during the invasions of Saipan, Iwo, Okinawa, the Philippines, New Hebrides and all over the South Pacific. Walter was also a member of the occupation forces on the ground in Japan, serving in Hiroshima, Nagasaki and in Tokyo, following the dropping of the atomic bomb. He also patrolled on the USS Missouri, during the signing of the peace treaty.
In 1998, after being together for several years, he married his soul mate, Nancylee Monroe. Walter was a wonderful husband, who adored his wife and family. He gave them the world. Walter also loved taking care of his cat, Willie. Besides his family, he loved his work. For 49 years, Walter was the proud owner of W & S Roofing. He was excellent at his job and was known throughout the area as a hard worker who strived for perfection.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, John Scarincio and his wife Jane and his sister Rose McIntyre.
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Nancylee Scarincio; his sons, Paul Scarincio and his wife, Julia, Walter Scarincio, Mark Scarincio and Michael Scarincio; his step daughters, Melissa Tefft and her husband, Rob and Denise Montena and her husband, Tom; his step son, David Snyder and his wife, Angela; many grandchildren and step grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Thursday, October 16, 2014, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6 pm on Thursday, following the calling hours, with the Pastor Regina Haag, of Adirondack Friends meeting, officiating.
Burial will be 10 a.m. on Friday, at Union Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward, with full military honors, provided by the Hudson Falls American Legion Post #574, Honor Guard.
Walters family requests donations in his memory be sent to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
