FORT EDWARD – Malcolm S. Waddington, 91, formerly of Queensbury, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at his home in The Fort Hudson Health Care Facility.
Born on August 4, 1921, in New Baltimore, NY, he was the son of the late Chester and Elizabeth (Wheat) Waddington.
Malcolm served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. For his honorable service, he was decorated with the American Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal and The World War II Victory Medal.
Malcolm was the beloved husband of Genevieve (Adach) Waddington, whom he married on November 18, 1951. After 41 years of service, he retired from General Electric Company. Malcolm enjoyed 31 wonderful years after his retirement. He loved playing golf, walking and solving crossword puzzles. Along with his wife of 51 years, Malcolm traveled throughout the country, visiting state campsites, as they enjoyed retirement. Family was the center of his life. Malcolm especially loved family gatherings and watching his great-grandchildren grow.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Genevieve, he was predeceased by his brother, Howard Waddington, his sister, Ruth Waddington and his stepson, Joseph Weber.
Malcolm was a devoted father of Gary A. Waddington of Queensbury and Susan C. Dalbey of Glens Falls and her loving companion, Carl Abbey; his precious grandchildren, Stephen Dalbey and his wife, Jessica of Burlington, VT, Kristen Hosler and her husband, Carter of Glens Falls and Jason Paul and Courtney Lynn of Arlington, TX; he is also survived by his great grandchildren, Charlotte and Rebecca Hosler and Sierra Dalbey; his son from his first marriage, David Waddington; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home, with the Reverend W. Sheldon Hurst, pastor of the Village Baptist Church in Fort Edward, officiating.
After the Funeral Service, Malcolm will be laid to rest next to his wife at Maplewood Cemetery in Saratoga Springs, with full military honors, provided by the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574.
Following the graveside services, everyone is welcome to a luncheon to honor Malcolm’s life, at the Village Baptist Church on Broadway in Fort Edward, where he was a member.

The family wishes to thank his two caregivers from the Cedar’s, Mandy and Cathy and the wonderful staff at the Fort Hudson Health Care Facility, including, Ashley, Amanda, Ellen, Erin, Kendie, Kathleen, Melanie, Tina, Amanda B., Jen and Kimarie for the compassion, care and kindness given to Malcolm and his family. He considered Fort Hudson his home.
