Viele 1 Viele2KINGSBURY – Lester Viele, Jr., 88, of Kingsbury, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at the Haynes House of Hope in the town of Granville, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He is now reunited with his wife of 32 years.

Born on December 21, 1926, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Lester and Eliza (Rino) Viele.  Lester served in the United States Navy as a Seabee during World War II and Korea War.

He worked for the General Electric Company for 34 years and was a member of the carpenters union. After retirement he worked with his step-son Joe Sullivan, refinishing hardwood floors.  He enjoyed working in his shop making furniture and toys and memoires for family and friends.

Lester enjoyed long motorcycle rides, camping, hunting and fishing on Lake George with his family and friends, watching John Wayne movies, the New York Yankees and building and flying model airplanes with his brother Ernie and nephew Bryne.  He was a member of the Barnstormer’s Club and enjoyed snowmobiling.  He was a member of the South Glens Falls American legion Color Guard and a lifetime member of the Queensbury VFW.  Lester enjoyed vacations to the New England Coast and took great joy in giving rides to his grandchildren on his John Deere tractor and his golf cart.  In the past few years he grew especially close to his great grandchildren Olivia and Alex “Grasshopper”.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his wife, Colleen (Sullivan) Viele, his sons, Charles Viele and Craig Viele, a stepdaughter, Kelly Ann Sullivan, a son-in-law Noel Barber; and his six siblings.

Survivors include his children, Connie Miller and her husband, Jeff and Cindy Viele and her husband, Jeff Kendzierski; a daughter in law, Cathy Viele; his step-children, Dawn Pugh and her husband, Calvin, Kris Barber, Lois Sullivan, Colleen Spaulding and her husband, Kenny, Joseph Sullivan and his fiancé, Kelly Carpenter and Thomas Sullivan and his wife Christine; his brother, Ernie Viele, his grandchildren, Scott Beckwith, Chipper Viele, Christina Kelsey and her husband, Shannon, Jeremy Viele and his wife, Anita, Genevieve Viele, Tim Woodard, Jamie Knight, Jason Knight, Jolene Cronin and her husband, Josh, Elizabeth Sullivan, Dennis Sullivan and Michael Sullivan; his great grandchildren; his former wife, Shirley Tucker, whom he lived with for 30 years with his children, in a house that he built in Queensbury; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In keeping with Lester’s wishes, there are no calling hours.

A graveside service with military honors provided by American legion Post 574 of Hudson Falls will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Kingsbury Cemetery located in the Hamlet of Kingsbury.

His family would like to thank High Peaks Hospice and the staff at Haynes House of Hope in Granville for their love and support in Lester’s final days.

Colleen Sullivan Viele

KINGSBURY – Colleen Sullivan Viele, 86, passed away, April 20, 2014, (Easter Sunday), after a long and stoic battle with Diabetes and Heart Disease.

Colleen worked at GE for 20+ years and after retiring she volunteered at the ACC Daycare Center for several years until she left to take care of her grandkids for 18 years and great grandkids for the last 3 years. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Her family was the center of her life and that sometimes included the Kingsbury neighborhood kids who could usually be found playing in the yard alongside her 8 children.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Kelly Ann Sullivan, her son in law Noel Barber, stepson Craig Viele and her 6 siblings.

She is survived by her husband Lester Viele, her children Dawn (Calvin) Pugh, Kris Barber, Lois Sullivan, Colleen (Kenny) Spaulding, Joseph Sullivan and his Fiance Kelly Carpenter, Dennis (Virginia) Sullivan, Thomas (Christine) Sullivan. Step Children Connie (Jeff) MIller, Cindy (Jeff) Kendierski, Chuck(Kathy)Viele. Her sister Ellen Pezzi. Brother in Law Ernie Viele. Grandchildren Jamie Knight, Jason Knight, Jolene (Josh) Cronin, Elizabeth Sullivan and Dennis & Michael Sullivan. Also Scott Beckwith, Chipper Viele, Christina Kelsey, Jeremy Viele, Genvieve Viele, Tim Woodard. Great Grandchildren Olivia and Alex Cronin and several step-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will conducted, 11 a.m. on Thursday, at the Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Kingsbury Cemetery in the town of Kingsbury.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kandora and his staff for 30 years of excellent care. The family would also like to thank the Glens Falls Hospital Emergency room doctors and nurses for the care & compassion they showed her on her many visits there.

Betty Jeanne (Fogg) Viele

VieleHUDSON FALLS – Betty Jeanne (Fogg) Viele, 65, of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly, after a short illness on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at her home.

Born November 13, 1947, in Plattsburg, she was the daughter of the late Albert J. Fogg and Joyce (Kelsey) Rouse.

Betty attended Fort Ann Schools then received her certificate in cosmetology, and was a licensed realtor.  She worked as a waitress, caregiver, and also worked at General Electric and C.R. Bard for many years.

She enjoyed reading, music, and watching classical movies, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Betty is predeceased by her first husband, Paul G. Harrington and a special aunt, Barbara Earl.

Survivors include her loving husband, Ernie B. Viele, of Queensbury; her son, David Harrington, of Queensbury; her two daughters, Paula Maille and her husband, Mark, of Lake Luzerne, Jennifer Lanphear of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Robert Ladd, Jami Ladd, Samatha Celeste, Jenee Osgood, Derick Osgood, Madelynn Lanphear, Gavin Lanphear, Brooklin Lanphear; her step granddaughter, Stephanie Maille; her brother and sisters, Jo Denno, and her husband, Buck, of Hague, Lisa Hyatt and her husband, James, of Hudson Falls, John Rouse and his wife, Gina, of Hudson Falls, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

A prayer will be said at the funeral home, following calling hours, Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 8 p.m..

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
