Mary E. Snyder

FORT EDWARD – Mary E. Snyder, 91, passed away at the Fort Hudson Nursing Center, on Saturday, December 14, 2013.

Born on October 20, 1922, in the town of Moreau, she was the daughter of the late James and Phoebe (Mabb) Balfour.

Mary was a graduate of South Glens Falls High School.  She then worked for 41 years at General Electric Company in Hudson Falls.  Mary was also a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in South Glens Falls.

In addition to her husband, George Snyder and her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, William Balfour, Ralph Balfour, Harold Balfour; her half brothers, John Patch, Edward Patch and James Patch and her sisters, Helen Abare and Margaret Abare.

Survivors include her sister in law, Betty Balfour of South Glens Falls; her special niece, Nancy Snyder of Fort Edward; her special nieces and nephews in law, Donna and Leslie Hickok of Arizona and Sandra and James Clark, Sr. of South Glens Falls; her special nephew, Ralph Balfour of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and several great nephews and great nieces and great great nieces and nephews.

There will be a family viewing from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street, Hudson Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. following the calling hour at St. Michael the Archangel Church on Route 9 in South Glens Falls, with the Reverend Tony Childs, pastor officiating.

The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls.
