Dana Bruce Roy

RoyKINGSBURY – A wonderful set of drums were silenced when Dana Bruce Roy, 65, of Kingsbury, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at the Glens Falls hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 11, 1950, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Marietta (Smith) Roy of Queensbury and the late Jesse Roy.

Dana was a 1969 graduate of Queensbury High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He received his associate’s degree from Adirondack Community College, now known as SUNY Adirondack.

For 9 years, Dana operated the Kayo Gas Station formerly located in Hudson Falls. He then began a 19 year career as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, delivering mail in Hudson Falls.

His fondness for music, especially his beloved drums showed in the many bands he played in. They included, The Tri-County New World Singers, a church group, North Country, Travelin’, Sensation, Patti Dixon and the Real Thing and the Jesscott Praise Band. He had many things he liked, some depending on the season, bowling in the winter, especially in the Fun League, Motorcycling in the summer, golf in the spring and summer, and doing yardwork. His greatest joy, was time spent with his family and the many memories of a trip to Hawaii with them.

In addition to his father, he is also predeceased by his wife, Charlene (Canale) Roy.

He is survived by his mother, Marietta (Smith) Roy of Queensbury; his daughter, Leslie Lovelace of Glens Falls; his son, Chad Roy of Hudson Falls; his sisters, Nancy Skelton and her husband, James of MD, Jill Gervasio and her husband, Bob of South Glens Falls and Heidi Saville of Glens Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved Grand Pugs, Maui, Reef, Hula and Tiki.

Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Patricia Girard, pastor of the Hartford Yoked Parish. officiating.

Interment will follow in Southside Cemetery in the town of Moreau.

Dana’s family suggests that memorial donations in his memory be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 100 Glen St., Glens falls, NY 12801.

Dana’s family would like to thank Dr. Gaiotti-Grubbs and PA Nikole Delair, for their compassionate care of Dana as well as Dr. Amy Hogan-Moulton for many years of great-care and all the staff at the Glens Falls Hospital Broad St. Dialysis Center.
