HUDSON FALLS – Michael J. “ Mike” Morency, Sr, 68, the “Mayor of Stephan Drive” passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2016.

Born September 25, 1947, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Simmons) Morency.

Mike was a graduate of Hudson Falls High School and Ward’s Business School.

His first wife, Frances (Norton) Morency passed away April 5, 2003.

He married Mary Lynne Packard in February 0f 2005.

From 1968 to 1979, he was partners with his father, operating Morency and Son Trucking.  From 1981 until his retirement in 2004, he was a Senior Plant Engineer at Washington Correctional Facility in Comstock.

Mike was a long time member of the Sons of the American Legion and also served several years with the Fort Edward Rescue Squad, Inc.

He loved hunting and fishing and for over 40 years was a member of the Garnet Lake 9 Hunting Club.  Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Mary (Packard) Morency of Hudson Falls; his son, Michael Morency, Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Argyle; his grandchildren, Samantha Morency, Alexandra Morency and Michael A. Morency; his sister, Patricia Hunter and her husband, Glenn of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.

Prayers will follow the calling hours at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Mikes family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff on T-2 at the Glens Falls Hospital for the wonderful care and support given to Mike during his illness.
