David James LaPoint

QUEENSBURY – David James LaPoint, 63, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at his home in Queensbury.

Born on August 15, 1960, in Glens Falls he was the son of Carol G (Garvin) LaPoint and the late Edward George LaPoint

David attended South Glens Falls High School.

David spent most of his life locally, except in his younger years he lived several years in Florida.  He loved traveling, especially to Maine, Alaska and Key West, Florida.  At family gatherings you could always count on him bringing his favorite, Key Lime Pie.

David will be remembered for being “Just a Good Guy”.

He is survived by his mother, Carol G. LaPoint; his two brothers Edward LaPoint and John LaPoint; three nieces and nephews 6 great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of David’s life will be held on his birthday, Thursday, August 15 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at his brother Eddie’s camp, 8 Ward Lane, Queensbury, NY.

Terri Lynn LaPoint

JACKSON – Terri Lynn LaPoint, 62, of the Town of Jackson, passed away on Friday August 5, 2016, at her home.

 

Born on July 26, 1954, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Sally Frye and the late John C. Brown.

 

Terri received a bachelor’s degree from Empire State College, and received her licensure through the State of New York as a substance abuse counselor. She was employed by the Hope House in Albany where she helped others as a counselor. Most importantly to her though, was the time spent with her family and her grandchildren.

 

In addition to her father, Terri was predeceased by her brother, William “Billy” Brown.

 

She is survived by her husband, Tom LaPoint of Jackson; Daughter Jennifer Rock and her husband, James of Hudson Falls; her stepson Benjamin LaPoint and his significant other, Samantha of Gansevoort; her grandchildren Donald James Thomas Rock, Holly Anne Morgan Rock; Step-grandchildren: Benjamin LaPoint, Jr., Laura, and Eric; Great-Grandchildren: Charli Elizabeth, Zane Jordan VanGundy, Renegade Rose Rock; her brother John Brown and his wife, Kathleen of Hudson Falls; her sister Sally Brown-Frost and her significant other, Jason Payette of Greenfield, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by the light of her life, Arthur D. LaPoint.

 

There will be no public calling hours.

 

Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Friday at the Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls.

 

A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

 

Terri’s family suggests memorial donations in her name be made to the American Cancer Society, 959 U.S. 9, Queensbury, NY 12804; or a charity of one’s choice.

Brian W. LaPoint

LaPoint, BrianHUDSON FALLS – Brian W. LaPoint, 62, formerly of Hudson Falls and currently of Sherman Ave. in Glens Falls, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at his home.

Born on October 14, 1953, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Wayne B. and Edna M. (VanBuren) LaPoint.

Brian graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1973. During the summers, he was employed by the Village of Hudson Falls.  Later Brian worked at Pallets, Inc., in Fort Edward and Robinson and Smith in Gloversville.  Brian was a veteran of the United States Army.

In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting at his home with his father.  Brian also bowling.

Survivors include his son, Brian E. LaPoint of Hoosick Falls; his daughter, Jessica R. LaPoint and grandson Keagan Beaney of Hudson Falls; his brother, Kevin LaPoint and his wife, Theresa of Colonie; his sister, Michele R. Ludeman and her husband, Matthew of Moreau; nieces and nephews, Adam Ludemann, Amanda (George) Reese, Matthew (Laura) LaPoint, Meghan Lapoint and Jonathan LaPoint; as well as an aunt, uncles, cousins and their families.

A memorial calling hour will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 10 am to 11 am, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., with memorial services to follow at 11 am at the funeral home.

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Fort Edward.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to CWI, 37 Everts Ave., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Joyce B. LaPoint

HUDSON FALLS- LaPoint, Proof, 82, died peacefully Friday, April 25, 2014, at her Martindale Avenue home.    Born on May 25, 1931, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter   of the late George Arthur and Alberta (Hendrix) Blake.

After graduating from Hudson Falls High School in 1948, Joyce started work, as a typist, at the Washington County Motor Vehicle Bureau.    Then, in 1956, she moved over to the County Clerk’s Office, and commenced working as a stenographer with Hall Niemer,  Deputy County Clerk.   In 1961, she resigned from her position with the County to work     with Wilbur “Pete” Williams in the private sector, searching property titles and preparing abstracts from them, eventually starting her own business, Joyce B. LaPoint, Abstracts of Title.    A fixture for decades in her small, corner office overlooking the county Records Room, Joyce was known for both the speed and the accuracy of her work.   She retired in 2001.

Joyce enjoyed her home, her friends, big cars, her pool,  scrabble, watching golf on television (especially Tiger Woods),  dachshunds (the companionship of her fourth,  Jackie, was a great joy and comfort to her) and, especially, her family, by whom she is, and will be, greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her first husband, John J. Carella, and her second husband, Robert J. LaPoint; a brother, Raymond A. Blake; and a sister-in-law, Patricia (Richard) Blake.

Survivors include her sons, David B. Carella and his wife, Tigest, of Fredricksburg, Virginia, and Richard A. Carella, of Hudson Falls; her brother, Richard R. Blake, of Fort Edward; her step-daughter, Jeanne Wood, of Argyle; her two step-sons, Robert LaPoint, of Jacksonville, Florida and Dan LaPoint and his wife, Debbie, of Argyle; her grandchildren, James Carella and his wife, Holly, of Clarksville, Moriah Ladd and her husband, David, of Fort  Ann, Joseph Carella and his wife, Brandie, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jonathan Carella and his wife, Rebecca, of Fort Edward and Stephen and Michael Carella, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Michaelene Carella, of Fort  Edward; her niece, Christine Latham and her husband, Michael, of Queensbury; her nephews, Scott Blake and his wife, Tammi, of South Glens Falls, Kevin Blake and his wife, Valerie, of Canaan, New Hampshire and Keith Blake and his wife, Heidi, of Raleigh, North Carolina; her step-nephew, David Connors and his wife, Jennifer, of Selkirk; her step-niece, Shannon Morock and her husband, Jeff, of Raleigh, North Carolina; eight great-grandchildren; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

A private ceremony was held for Joyce on April 29, 2014, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., in Hudson Falls.   “Amazing Grace,” a hymn she requested be played, was sung for her by her grandsons, James and Joseph Carella.

Interment followed at Sandy Hill Union Cemetery, Fort Edward.

Raymond “Ray” LaPoint

QUEENSBURY – Raymond “Ray” LaPoint, 82, a longtime Glens Falls Resident, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing Home in North Creek.

Born on January 3, 1931, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Clifford and Vivian (Rozelle) LaPoint.

Ray was a graduate of Glens Falls High School.  Following high school, he served in the US Marine Corps.

In 1955, Ray married Elizabeth McDonnell.  She passed away on February 9, 2011, after 56 years of marriage.

For many years, Ray worked for Allied Moving and Storage, where he was a member of the Teamsters .  He also worked for Sippy’s Bar and Sandy’s Clam Bar.  After his retirement, he owned and operated LaPoint’s Grocery in Glens Falls, for several years

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Randy LaPoint and his brother, Roger LaPoint.

He is survived by his sons, Michael LaPoint and his wife, Cindy of Wilton and David LaPoint and his wife, Denise of Riverview, Florida; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friend may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be private.

Ray will be laid to rest at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in the town of Stillwater, with full military honors.
